My now elderly dog has been a patient at Point Breeze Veterinary clinic for over eleven years. I have been impressed with their vet techs over the years as almost every single one remembers my dog by name. I have been especially pleased by the friendliness of receptionist Andrea and vet tech Annie for her compassion and skill. Unfortunately, my sweet girl was diagnosed with cancer and I have been bringing her every month for follow up to determine when palliative care will be necessary. Dr. Gerson has been very patient and kind; going as far as sitting with me one afternoon soon after her diagnosis when I didn’t even have an appointment. I had come into the clinic without an appointment, ran into him on his day off and he took the time to listen to my concerns, answer my questions and even told a few jokes. I will say the tests were expensive and I am still paying them off. However, Dr. Gerson has been understanding and even met with me and my dog for free and at a discount. This has been a difficult process that I am sure will become more so, but I am grateful for the compassionate care that both my dog and I have received.

Super Impressed with their setup, attitude and level of attention. Basically I judge most new vets by two things: the time they spend with my pet/how rushed they make me feel during a routine visit, and how much time elapses before they talk to me about Science Diet. These two things tell me the doctor is on auto-pilot and perhaps has too big a panel of patients and maybe isnt such a great human being. I brought my whole tribe of animals for a new pet visit, they spent over an hour and a half going over care routines, previous issues, new questions, etc. I love that. Their advice is practical and they dont push products, very respectable. Both the techs and vet were all SUPER knowledgable and they went out of their way to give our pets treats and keep them comfortable. They focus on preventative care, which is great. They also have two locations but werent super packed, which tells me they manage their panel well even after having expanded.

I usually never write reviews for places, but I felt like I had to for this one. I cannot say enough good about this place! My cat recently had an emergency and they took him in right away, and took the time to explain to me what was going on. They will work with you on a payment plan if you need to do so. Dr. Gerson has been so great throughout this experience and was willing to answer all the questions that I had, also providing me with reliable resources if I wanted to do further research on my cats issue. The same can be said for the rest of the staff (shout out to vet tech Joan)! I called every day Dub was an in-patient and they even let me come in to visit him, and they were always happy to answer any questions I had (which were many)! I guess I cant speak for any other veterinarian practices in Pittsburgh, but I know that I wouldnt want to take Dub anywhere else but Point Breeze.

We moved into the area... from overseas... bringing two cats and a dog. Each time we have come here the staff have been great. My dog loves the place- never scared at all and my cats purred the whole time they got their check-up which is weird because they normally hate the vet. I put the successful visits down to the really lovely and caring staff, vets and techs included. They are so gentle with the animals and really take the time to make them feel safe and comfortable. My only con for this place is that it can be really hard to get into if your animal gets sick suddenly... you need to call before 10am most days to get in. I cant speak to the price, I havent been anywhere else over here. I have found that they are good about telling me what is and is not absolutely required so that Im not spending money on things I dont need.

Our cats have always gotten excellent care at Point Breeze Vet. Unfortunately, our big boy was just found to have a large lung tumor. I really appreciated Dr. Mathias perspective that it would be futile to attempt to treat this in a 14-year-old cat, and she encouraged us to put him to sleep. We were too stunned to do it right then and there, but we took him home for one last good day, and returned the next day, when Dr. Simard very gently put him to rest. We were so pleasantly surprised to be shown into a very home-like office setting, where Rocky was calm and we could stay with him till the very end of his life. There was no rush for us to leave the office. The techs were also so incredibly kind and gentle. We really appreciated their care at this very difficult time.

We have been taking our dogs to this clinic for several years. We think Dr. Simard is one of the best vets in the city, however, the charges are becoming quite exorbitant. Not only are the costs for services rising but their charges for meds are also quite high. We dont think our vet has much control over the costs as the fees and management seem to be in the hands of the founder of the clinic, Dr. Gerson and his wife. Unfortunately in a multiple dog family paying over $500 for a neuter is a bit high. Thank goodness for Spay and Neuter Clinics that provide a great service to the community at a considerably lower and more affordable cost. The rating above reflects our like for our vet. I would rate the clinic itself as 3 stars.

Honestly one of the best vet clinics I’ve taken a pet to – definitely the best in Pittsburgh. I took my 9 year old rescue dog to Point Breeze Veterinary Clinic not knowing what to expect. All of the staff were very helpful and patient, both with me (an anxious rescuer) and with my very skittish rescue. They reassured both of us. The appointments were easy to schedule, prompt, and staff communicated everything very clearly – particularly regarding costs and treatment options. I recommend this clinic without hesitation.

The facility and staff at Point Breeze were fine. They were friendly and knowledgeable enough, and kept a modest little neighborhood practice. I would have appreciated having them take care of my Great Pyrenees... until seeing the bill. Our first visit cost in excess of $160 for an office visit, heart worm screen, and screen for intestinal parasite. Nevertheless, I thought I would take the pup back for spaying, only to find out that Point Breeze spaying starts at over $550!!! Thanks, but well find another vet.

You may want want to seriously reconsider using this Clinic if your African American they are racist and will not treat with respect, I came in to get my kitten nurtured, micro-chipped and de-clawed. After three visits ( where my kitten was given immunizations) they still wouldnt do it, my friend is white white two cats used them and didnt have to go threw anything. They also associated my name with having a Pittbull when I tried to schedule my first visit, never owned a Pitbull in my life.

Very friendly staff. They have always made my dogs feel welcome and cared for. They are very knowledgeable, professional, and want the best for your pets. I have seen a few different vets there and each one has been great. The only problem is that it can be hard to find the time to schedule an appointment, but if you call in advance, they can usually fit you in. I plan on continuing to bring my pets here in the future when they need checkups or are sick.
