A quiet lane in a small clapboard building -- Not very impressive but certainly worth your consideration if you are looking for good/excellent care for your pet. You cant judge a book by its cover. Our experience with Hopewell Vet has been just the opposite of some of the others. We have a menagerie that has included up to 11 cats and a Great Dane, not to mention all the farm animals. Our farm is located close to a no kill shelter. When the shelter cannot take an animal, sometimes the cruelest owners drive around the corner and release the poor thing into one of the fields nearby. We have taken in many of these "lost" cats. First stop is Hopewell. They saved a cat that had found its way to our hay barn in the dead of winter. Poor thing was an elderly Abyssinian, declawed and toothless. It took a while to catch the terrified thing. By the time I got her to Hopewell, they couldnt get a body temperature reading on her. They had her for 3 days. She was skeletal. They saved her life and she lived another six loving years. Another blur in the night delivered 6 kittens in the horses stall. After she weaned them, we caught her feral self and off to Hopewell for spay and vaccinations. They were great and because we knew we couldnt catch her again for the one week follow up, she stayed in their care until the stitches were out and everything was done. Their rates were extremely reasonable. We did it again when she had an abscess over her eye. Shes fine. Still 90% feral but we take her as she is. Re the staff. I find them to be friendly and kind and at the same time very capable, especially when we show up with the anti social barn cats who are already traumatized by being caught and the the trip in the car. I am forever grateful to them when they opened their doors one morning to find my panic stricken son, holding his favorite cat. The cat had been hit by a car. The vet was not in. The staff examined the cat and were certain that nothing could save him. They spoke to both my inconsolable son and to me via phone. Poor cat. They put him down and tried to comfort my son. Later they called me and explained further and expressed their sympathy. They could have shunned this problem and sent him on his way to the ER Vet hospital some half hour away only to run up huge bills, if the cat had survived to get there. The damage was catastrophic and they handled that sad scene as well as one could want. I like Dr. Preston. I trust her to be honest and knowledgeable about what ever condition the animals have. Shes been great for our veterinary needs. She is not chatty but she is focused on what brought you there in the first place, your pet. Another anecdote if you dont mind. The Dane is not so good around horses. One of my sons horses landed a kick on her. A real body blow. She is my sons constant companion, a truck dog, if you will. We called Hopewell and begged them to take a look at her ASAP. Instead of sending us off to the ER Vet, they said we could bring her right over. They x-rayed her and found that she had a bruised liver but nothing like a broken rib or collapsed lung or internal bleeding which we feared. It didnt cost us a fortune which is all Ive ever experienced with bills from the ER Vet. They were able to perform the necessary tests and give us the results right away. We were reassured and since then, she stays in the house when hes working with the horses. If you want a ultra modern glitzy office and vets who are too, Hopewell is not the place for you. If you want your pet well taken care of at a reasonable price by vets who seem to really care, go to Hopewell.

WORST Vet in York County!!!!! I have never written a review but now I have to speak up this is a TERRIBLE vet. I took my 10 year old dog to Hopewell because they are the closest vet to me and my dog was in need of care for a somewhat urgent matter. When I called they took my info and asked for my normal vets info to check on if my dog was up to date on vaccines. Then said they could get him in 2 hours after I called because they had some openings. I took him over and they listened to his heart, looked in his mouth, and then took a rectal temp. The vet was not friendly and they asked if he was up to date on shots I told them he was probably due but they told me over the phone they were calling my normal vet. They then gave him 3 shots, never took care of the actual issue I called in about, and charged me almost $100 for the visit then sent us home. About 1 1/2 to 2 hours later my dogs face is swollen he has big red bumps all over his body is itching his eyes are bloodshot and hes shaking! He had some type of horrible reaction from one of the shots and has never had problems with anything before. This is not the first time I had a problem here but last time was 10 years ago with my cat who after a spay surgery had to be rushed to the ER vet due to a adverse reaction to the stitching. For some reason I thought maybe things were better now and gave them a second chance. What a TERRIBLE mistake! NEVER take your pet to this HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Place!!!

Look no further for your veterinary needs! As I am a new pet mother, I was recommended to Stewartstown Vet Services and couldnt be happier with the services they have provided to my furry friend, Mister. Upon arriving for my kittens first exam, I knew he would be in good hands. The reception staff was extremely warm, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. It is obvious that the staff truly cares about animals. The veterinary technicians were very patient and caring with my little guy, even with his spunky attitude, and he always seems to be comfortable while he is in their care. The veterinarians and their assistants thoroughly explained everything prior to touching Mister, so I had a good understanding of what to expect. Bills are never the fun part but I appreciate how everything is itemized in detail and gives a summary of the visit and when your pet is due back! It is also a plus that I can purchase Misters flea and tick prevention, along with any necessary medications all in one visit. I continue to be impressed by the their expertise and kindness, and value their advice and recommendations for his continued care. Mister and I look forward to visiting the office in good health, but only when their helpful postcard reminds us to!

We took our dogs there for years. Used to be ok, Now there is a new doctor who shares the practice. BEWARE!!! This office has become all about money, twice now we were presented with bill of over $400 and $600 for just "assessment" of the situation. So no matter what the problem is, there will be no common sense or deductive reasoning used to diagnose or evaluate your pet, no matter what you try to explain to her, you will be dismissed and ignored. We were told our dog needed a series of tests to evaluate her and that will get you on a $400+ bill just for showing up. Yes, I understand sometimes you need testing, but when it is clear that there is broken nail, do you really need a set of X rays, anesthesia, blood work, etc, etc??? we had to pay the bill which came out to $600+ (because they had to put a bandage on it and cone on her head so she wouldnt take it off). Actual treatment: pain meds, and antiseptic to clean her paw. I couldve have done that at home!! Rip off!!
