A hard lesson learned. Imagine making an appointment with an experienced cosmetologist at a high end salon. The receptionist answers and you ask for an appointment with "Claude." You indicate that you are a new client and that you need a haircut. The receptionist gives you some dates and you schedule an appointment several weeks out. On the appointment day, you arrive and the under-stylist take you to the shampoo bowl, gives you a sleek black cape, and a Dasani. They shampoo you and wrap your hair in a towel and finally take you to Claude. Claude is charming and he runs his expert hands through your hair and begins to question you about past treatments. "How long since you had a color? How long since you had a perm?" He then tells you how experienced he is and gives a list of treatments that he would love to do for you on your next appointment. He also says, "You can even get a haircut!" At this point you are uber-confused as he takes out the dryer and begins to dry your hair. You question,"Hey, I thought I was getting a haircut today?" He says, "Honey hush! We have you down for a new client CONSULTATION in the appointment book." He gives you a nice spray of Paul Mitchell and sends you to the front where the clerk says,..."That will be $250 for today" What the heck, you say as you walk out with no haircut. This is what Cypress Internal Medicine did to me in an analogous way. I called for a Physical appointment as a new patient, and I was given an appointment. At no point during scheduling was I given any disclosure, that the office requires a $377 consultation, BEFORE I could get a physical. Imagine my surprise as I sat patiently answering questions about my medical history when it became clear that I would not be having a physical. Sitting in the chair with wet hair and all and not really knowing what to say to "Claude" as I realize that this was a consult, not a physical. So I would be advised as a new patient. They did not disclose this policy at all, and I had no reason to expect that I was not going to get a physical on that day. I asked for a physical, and the nice receptionist gave me an appointment. Be advised. After three phone calls and pleading with them to do the right thing, there has been no concession on the part of Cypress Internal Medicine. Unethical business policies. Next time, I will just go see Nancy at the "Curl Up and Dye Salon."
