Cant say enough about how awesome Dr. Greenfield is! Dr. G is a quality vet dentist and I would definitely use him again for my dogs dental needs. My dog presented with severe facial swelling due to a cracked and abscessed upper 4th pre-molar (a very difficult tooth to remove without surgery) on a Wednesday, and we saw Dr. G on a Friday. Dr. G examined my dog with great care and quickly scheduled surgery for the following Monday (thanks to a last minute cancellation). He was professional, took his time examining my dog and explaining the situation clearly, and performed a quality surgery on my dog. He ended up doing full mouth x-rays and surgically removing both upper 4th pre-molars (a very serious procedure no regular vet should do themselves without x-rays and dental tools). He even found and corrected an issue related to a tooth my regular vet pulled (left a root in the socket which led to abscess) during a teeth cleaning 6 weeks before surgery (they didnt notice the dental issues Dr. G saw). After surgery, Dr. G showed me pictures of the x-rays and the teeth and explained to me what he saw in the x-rays that showed him these teeth needed to come out. Before leaving after surgery, Dr. G gave me his personal cell number and told me to call or text if we needed him (a huge plus). Dr. G cares about his furry patients and goes above and beyond to make sure your dogs dental health is top notch. He is very friendly and I had an extremely positive experience with him and his team. Dental issues in dogs might not present themselves in an obvious manner--which is why you should seek a specialist if your dog is having symptoms. Now that the surgery is over (2 weeks post-op) my dog has more energy than ever before, even for a 7 year old dog. Its crazy to see how the pain of those abscessed teeth were bothering her-- and she has a very high pain threshold. I can tell that she definitely feels a ton better now! Dont ignore the signs of dental issues in your dog. You wouldnt wait months if you had a broken tooth, nor would you go to your regular doctor with a broken tooth! Photo is swelling right below the left eye socket before seeing Dr. G.

BIG THANK YOU TO RELLA :) I live in Missouri about 6 hours drive from Memphis. A vet in Missouri told me he refers his patients here because they have a board certified veterinary radiologist to do ultrasounds and their equipment is equal to ultrasound equipment at universities. I have learned her name is Dr. Jennifer Miller. My cat has been sick with pancreatitis for 3 months now and after seeing 3 vets in Missouri hes still not recovered. He still has pain after every meal despite 3 medicines that help with pain. Buprenorphine, Gabapentin and Cerenia. I called Memphis Veterinary Specialists and left a message on Dr. Millers voicemail and promptly received a phone call back from her assistant named Rella. I cannot say enough about this young woman. She spent 70 minutes on the phone with me until I ended the call ...not her. She never rushed me to get off the phone and she listened to everything about my cat and gave me knowledgeable answers and honest answers. She told me the cost of the abdominal ultrasound was $400 and she let me know that it would show inflammation and the size of my cats pancreas but not likely necrotic tissue or scar tissue which is what I was wanting to know. She told me there are other locations closer to me like Tulsa, Columbia, Missouri and also in Kansas. She answered all my questions about cats they see with severe pancreatitis and gave me information I needed to know about what helps a lot of these cats get well and also what condition some of the cats are in with pancreatitis when they are admitted who unfortunately arent able to do as well. She explained to me the ultrasound exam and how my cat would be prepared for this procedure. I just want to thank her so much for everything she helped me with on this call. There was no persuading me to come to Memphis for a costly procedure. Rella was looking out for my cat and me to save us a long trip.

I have multiple pets who are patients of Memphis Veterinary Specialists. I moved to the Memphis area 6 years ago, and had one pet who required specialized care in another city prior to my move. Upon arrival to Memphis, I immediately set out to find a new specialist who could care for my pets needs. How lucky I was to find MVS! I have 6 pets and through the years a couple others have become patients as well. My oldest dog sees the internal medicine department several times a year for a check up and is doing great, I have 2 pets on allergy vaccines with Dr Brown (she is great - and the allergy vaccines work wonders!) and I have another dog who Dr Maxwell recently examined and determined that he had fluid built up in his shoulder causing his lameness. One small procedure later and my dog is back to normal. He will require a TPLO surgery on one of his knees in the future and I know that he will receive the wonderful care I have been accustomed to at MVS. Ive read the negative reviews below about the costs - yes, specialized care does cost more than my regular vet, but I expect that as these are HIGHLY trained doctors. We humans pay more when we see a specialist or visit the ER so why should anyone expect any different for our pets? We Memphians should feel lucky to have such a great speciality hospital in our city for our beloved pets, as not everyone has access to this type of care.

I see a lot of reviews based on the emergency room site which is actually a totally separate business than MVS. They just use the same building. I recently had to use both. We had to rush my girl in after a biopsy site began to hemorrhage. The ER side was able to control bleeding - although that dr could have learned some bedside etiquette. However, the MVS people were coming into work as we were finishing up. My dog was already scheduled for a possible amputation but due to the severity they agreed to take her immediately. The surgery was successful. We were able to visit anytime of the day or night after the first 24 hours. The staff were always helpful, friendly, and available whenever we needed them. The doctor called every time he said he would and communication regarding surgery and after care was wonderful. The cost was not cheap but certainly in line for this level of procedure. I have talked to many others with tripods in the week following the procedure and it is clear that my dog is doing WAY better than most when she went into the facility in far worse condition. The fact that they were prepared to do transfusions and had 24x7 care for her made all of the difference. I would definitely and highly recommend if your dog is in need of specialty care!

Great Vets? Yes. Outrageous costs? Absolutely. I felt like I was at a shady car dealership. The doctor made a gracious, pleasant visit and then sent his helper in to do the dirty work of presenting you with a bill..... and then she conveniently whips out a "plan B" bill, which is less care for a little less cost. Then she leaves for a minute, and comes back with a different speech, a different bill. Clearly, they have rehearsed how to make a buck - it is all such an act. If it wasnt for the fact that my pet was dying in the middle of the night, I would have been torn between laughter and outrage - I am in the medical field, and I know how much it costs to start an IV, do an x-ray, etc... This is MUCH more than you would encounter in an ICU at a HUMAN hospital. I will not go here unless I absolutely, positively have no other choice. And then, you have little choice - and they know it - that is why they dont care what the consumer thinks - they make their money in the end. Sad day that a surgeon caring for humans makes half what the vet makes - sad. I ended up traveling several hours to have my pet cared for at a better place for a third of the cost.
