First, Im not the type of person who gives negative reviews to businesses, in fact this is the first one I have ever given out period, and Im over 50 years old. Went and saw Dr Coleman, got a new prescription and my eyes had changed a little and I had been rocking the same power lenses for over 5 years - I wasnt surprised as its to be expected at my age. They gave me a temporary pair which werent my correct prescription but "near enough" to get me by until my new ones came in 1-2 weeks. From that point on everything went horribly wrong. I got a call at work (I work in downtown Dallas) and was told my new lenses had arrived and were ready to be picked up. I actually left work early to get there before they closed as my "near enough" contacts were OK, but just, and I was ready to see 20 20 again. Imagine my chagrin after an hour fighting I35 traffic to be told they WERE there, but as this was a fitting, I couldnt have them without Dr Coleman checking them out, and Id have to make another appointment to see him and pick up my new lenses. Another weeks wait. I asked why couldnt they have told me this and made the appointment when they called me to say my contacts were ready to pick up? I got a shrug. Imagine my horror when I couldnt even see the big E at the top of the eye chart with the new lenses. They were so bad, I asked if Id actually got the correct lenses and hadnt been given someone elses by mistake? Dont worry they said, sometimes people dont see the same way out of different manufacturers lenses and they were ready for that and had 2 manufacturers lenses to try. I put the second pair in, hardly better They would order more lenses, I should go home with those and try them. But yes you guessed it, another 2 weeks wait for the next trial pair to arrive. I drove home in the lenses, at home i discovered I couldnt see to read on my laptop. I hoped my eyes were tired. They had put their fingers on my eyes and turned the contacts several times trying to get them "Correctly oriented". Im an optimistic person by nature but even I was having grave doubts at this point, I drove to work in the morning and as soon as I was in my office, pulled out the contacts and replaced them with my "near enough" pair which Id fortunately kept just in case. I couldnt function in the new lenses and on top of that it was dangerous for me to drive in them, especially in the dark. 2 weeks later new pair arrive, tested, couldnt see squat. He even told me to try taking the right one out and trying just one lens... Im like wtf?? Went home, dutifully tried the one lens is enough method, apparently just enough to not use a laptop and not drive safely. Again went back to the trusted "Near enough" pair, but at this time Id actually had enough. I called the following day, left a voicemail saying I hadnt been able to see adequately in 6 weeks now and I was done trying. Explained I didnt want the prescription because it didnt work and was useless, I just wanted my money back at this point, and how could we go about this? They called back 2 hours later when I was in a meeting, I missed the call but the voicemail said happily that my prescription was at the front desk ready for me to pick up.... Called again and kept calling till I got a human, explained politely I didnt want the script for lenses which I couldnt see out of, just wanted my money back...... Long silence.... someone else would call me right back and talk to me, what was my number again???? And here I am, 4 days later, still waiting lol. Fortunately I wasnt holding my breath waiting for them to the return call as Id have been long dead by now. Im still rocking my "Near enough" contacts as its all I have, resigned to going back to my original Optician (Omg do I want a do over on trying this bunch) and also resigned to being out $200 having to pay the full amount as Id already wasted my insurance money/co-pay on this bunch. Older and wiser, read this and just be forewarned..

My husband went in for an eye exam and had major changes in vision from his last exam. He order top of the line frames with extras (transitions and crizal lenses). We did pay with commercial insurance, but did have a co-payment. The glasses were ordered. Two weeks later, after no call letting us know the glasses were there, as promised, we did a drop by and picked them up. We left with the glasses, but quickly noticed that the transitions were not added to the lenses. We took the glasses back to wait for another two weeks. Again, my husband had to continue to drop by because no one would call letting us know when the glasses were back (communication with the office is awful and at times the people answering the phone are nothing short of rude). Again his glasses were incorrect. The transitions were in place along with two right lenses. My husband again dropped the glasses by to be fixed. Today, I have tried to contact the office and ask that a rush be put on the glasses due my husbands difficulty driving and working, and have left three messages for the office manager with no call back. A fourth call and they put me on a continuous ring to no voicemail. This office is very unprofessional and very poorly administrated!

I have been going here for a couple years, every time I am there they goof off, laugh and talk in the hallways, and are extremely slow about getting you in at your appt time. They gave me the wrong trial pair of contact lenses, and when I went back to get my prescription(1800contacts is half of their price) they printed the wrong prescription. While I was ordering on 1800contacts they called total eyewear, and they confessed to accidentally writing my prescription down wrong. I do not recommend this place, unless you want to spend tons of money, wait forever, and not get the quality for the amount you pay.

I absolutely love the office. Everyone is friendly and helpful. They are open with the charges I will have and never require me to do any procedures that I dont authorize. Also, I go yearly and have not encountered much change in my prescription to justify the comments on here insinuating that the office is "up selling" and requiring people to make purchases they dont need. Two years in a row, my prescription has been the same with no additional glasses needed! It all just depends on your eyes, genes and how much you stare at a screen.

Best Eye Doctor in Denton! By far!!! I loved the staff and atmostpere at Total Eyecare & Eyeware Gallery in Denton!! Dr. Kelby Trusty is so kind and actually took the time to understand the problem I was having with my vision! Apparently somehow I got a piece of plastic in my left well, but in two minutes I was pain free! I went to several other eye doctors and they couldnt figure out what was wrong, but Dr. Trusty was patient and figured it out! He is so nice! I 100% reccommend this office as the BEST EYE DOCTOR IN DENTON!!
