Our former vet has been a dear friend for many years, but 2009 saw him take his much deserved retirement. Although our vet was located in Mesquite, and not personally familiar with the Highland Village / Flower Mound vets, he was able to refer us to Double Oak Veterinary Medical Center - based on positive things he had heard through the grapevine. Well, Thanksgiving was unexpectedly shifted to our home, (4 days out), causing the need to have our Akita and Golden Retriever groomed. (*Formal dinner with an Akita that is still blowing her coat is an emergency!) So, I called the Double Oak Veterinary Medical Center and was given an appointment for the next morning. *Also, upon my request that morning - the staff made the time to tend to their yearly physicals and vaccinations. I called the clinic to let them know we would be arriving within the next five minutes. Upon our arrival Patty, the head Groomer, and another staff member were waiting at the door to receive Pebbles and Shelby. They were sincerely sweet and gentle in their demeanor and in their handling of our "babies." (It certainly made it a little bit easier to leave them behind with "strangers.") Patty called me twice to let me know how Pebbles & Shelby were doing and when they were given to the medical side to begin their checkups. During which one of our "babies" showed signs of a urinary tract infection. Before proceeding a member of the staff called for permission to treat and (before I could ask) explained the procedure and cost to do so. The medical staff were all very kind and attentive to me, my husband, and our "babies," including the doctor who took a half hour or more to discuss their physical well being. He never rushed through anything at any time, and it is worth noting that this was well after closing time. The fees for the various services were all very reasonable and below the costs of another local vet in Highland Village. I am certain of this because I called for a quote for the same services, and what a huge difference. When you consider the excellent and gentle care Double Oak Veterinary Medical Center provided at a substantially smaller price tag I can’t think of any reason to go anywhere else. We will definitely continue to use Double Oak Veterinary Medical Center for the canine members of our family.

My wife and I brought our "presumed" ill 6 year old Labrador to this vet and were told (after a $200 xray) the disorder was hip dysplasia and that it is/was quite severe and how could any prior vet have missed such an obvious disorder. When we went to meet with the orthopedic professionals (another referral from Double Oak) we were told the issue is actually a neurological disorder and we are now moving to a fourth facility for treatment. My wife and I do not fully fault Double Oak for potentially missing the real issue but we do object to: • Dismissing information from other vets and owners as incompetent • Failing to follow-up with a phone call to determine if the oral medication for the dog is working as promised. We were told they would call to determine if the medicine worked or if the dosage needed to be adjusted. We have yet to hear from them after two week. • Failing to send the referral and all important, yet wrong, x-ray to the specialist. We HAD to have this x-ray which did not isolate the issue; wasted time and received an dismissive approach from the principal manager of the facility due to theft from his personal residence. The group is nice but extremely disorganized and everyone within the practice fails at every level to f/u on what they tell you. You will spend a lot of money here and get very little from your time and effort and I would suggest finding another vet having interest in your pet vs. their own wallet.

It was very easy to schedule my pups grooming session. Very attentive and interested in information about my dogs.when I made the appt. over the phone. I looked forward to seeing the end result from the grooming session. They come highly recommended! I will say the grooming was very good for both of my fur babies, however the staff isnt very friendly. As soon as I arrived, obviously overwhelmed dealing with two dogs on a leash and multiple other dogs in the waiting room obviously anxious about the other dogs entering the facility. The receptionist didnt even say hello or good morning, I actually introduced myself. When the groomers came out they didnt introduce themselves or say Hello, just saying Im taking care of Shadow and the lady groomer saying now tell me how do you want your Yorkie cut? No introduction or anything.....I was brought up to show respect and be friendly to everyone, however if my dogs really didnt need a grooming that day I would have turned around and walked out simply due to the lack of common decency. Like I said, grooming was excellent, however the common courtesy of being friendly was severely lacking.

We had the wonderful opportunity to have Dina groom our 11-month-old Wheaton Scottish Terrier. We have been going to Double Oak for many years for our veterinary and grooming needs, and we were so impressed with Dina. She came out to greet us prior to leaving our pup, and she inquired about the specifics of the type of groom we desired. She was genuinely invested in ensuring our little guy received just the type of cut we wanted. Dina was exceptionally professional, punctual, and friendly; we cant thank her enough for the stellar job she did on our Finn. The staff at Double Oak have been consistently wonderful to us and more importantly to our two Scottish Terriers over the years, and Im glad Dina is part of their team.

The other posting by me should be removed but Google does not allow editing and/or removal. This review was largely based upon my shock and grief relative to the unexpected demise of our dog. My family and me have enjoyed multiple relocations over the past few years. Dr. Wood and Double Oak have been very helpful and professional since relocating to the north Dallas area. Sadly, our six-year-old Labrador has become quite ill and his life span is becoming very short. This has been an extremely difficult time for our family as we have all grown unexpectedly close to our dog. Anyway, Dr. Wood is incredibly professional and supportive.

Everyone at the Veterinary Medical Center has been amazing with our geriatric Persian Cat. We have seen all the Vets and primarily Dr. Russell but all the staff has been excellent to work with. I moved to Double Oak in 2012 and visited other vets before I choose Double Oak, The first impression I got confirmed that was the clinic I wanted to use. There were issues with the groomer and due to Emmas age and some of the experiences with that groomer, we are not using that aspect of the clinic. As a geriatric cat, Emma has health issues and they have been resolved and she is leading a long life because of the care she got at Double Oak.

Im staying at 3 stars for now. They were supposed to put stitches in my cat. I said while she is under clean her teeth. They put her under to clean her teeth, but then didnt stitch the hole because it was healing up well. What I would have said is dont put her under anesthesia. Then I was referred to a dental specialist off 1171. I will likely go back because family referred and says they are good with cats. Next time I will be very specific
