Im sure they are fine for routine care of your animals but not when they are gravely ill. I was neither impressed or unimpressed when I took my cat in for her shots, they vet barely spent any time with us (I didnt have Dr. Alicia) the vet tech spent more time getting information than the vet did examining her. My cat got a perfect health score and her shots and we were sent out the door. 3 days later my cat started to vomit, it was a Friday and it was only a few times so I didnt think anything of it. The next day she vomited a total of 26 times, I took her to the e-clinic but couldnt afford their diagnostics so I opted for palliative care (anti nausea meds, fluids and pain meds) to keep her going until I could bring her in to Prairie Winds on Monday. On Monday I brought her in and they ran diagnostics but didnt find anything wrong so they opted to keep her overnight on fluids until they could give her an ultrasound the next day. They did not give her anything to stop the vomiting, they did not try to give her any nutrients. All they did was fluids and cleaning up the vomit when she vomited. On Tuesday they did the ultrasound without me present although we had is set up so I could be present, all I got was a call saying she was doing fine but she needed surgery and the base rate for the surgery would be $1200. I had a friend listening in on the conversation who suggested I give Casselton Veterinary a call so I did and their price was much more manageable. I then informed Prairie Winds I would be taking my cat to Casselton and to please send her records and tests over, they excelled in doing that at least. When they brought her out for me to take her she had soiled herself and vomited in the carrier, she also didnt have the strength or energy to move. Once we arrived at Casselton they took her temp and their own x-ray, her temp was 105 (max for a cat is 102.5) and it appeared her bowels had ruptured and her abdominal cavity was infected. Prairie Winds had said she was FINE when I picked her up, no way had her temp gone from normal to 105 in the 40 minutes it took me to get her to Casselton. If I had left my cat at Prairie Winds Im fairly certain she would have died. Casselton saved her and nursed her back to health and now a month later my baby girl is doing perfectly fine. Thankfully her bowel hadnt ruptured and it was abnormal fluid in her abdominal cavity instead of infection. She had a bacterial infection and cell death in her small intestines and they were so inflamed nothing could pass so she was vomiting everything up. After everything else was ruled out the only probable cause of all this was the vaccines Prairie Winds gave her. Casselton will be giving her her next shots a week apart from each other and with antihistamines to try to prevent this from ever happening again. SUMMARY: Routine care they are fine, my vet was a little lacking in the hospitality realm but if your animal is really sick take them elsewhere (Casselton is really great option if you can drive that far)

I was hoping that I found something special with this place, especially after reading some positive reviews. Well, I should know better, just another uncaring vet and clinic. I arrived and waited a good 15 minutes Beyond appointment time. Vet came in, looked here there, I explained I am looking for someone to team up with me for reproductive health of my dog. Was promised a call back from "Dr. Alicia" the next week as she was out for the rest of the week. Was told she is the specialist regarding this topic. Two weeks later I receive a call back from the vet I saw "Dr. Kate" she was very cold, bluntly told me although Dr. Alicia does work with reproduction shes not seeing any more patients. Basically told me to transfer my records. Not only that she took the initiative to go ahead and email my records to me before she called to get me out faster. I dont even get it, I was very pleasant and nice. Feeling very confused and hurt.

Absolutely top notch! I was doing a little "pissed off" searching of the are vets, services, and prices after being told from our vet of 7 years that a seven month old "wellness" visit would not be sufficient to do a heart worm test and issue a prescription. For all three of my dogs! I would have to pay for three wellness visits, three heart worm tests, and three prescriptions. Not happy after all these years of taking our pets there. I was so happy that I found Prairie Winds when I did. All THREE wellness visits (since I was told they needed new ones anyway), heart worm tests, and prescriptions cost less than if I had taken two to the other vet! The staff is very friendly and accommodating, not to mention genuinely interested in the pets history. You wont be disappointed.

I adore this place. They are all so wonderful, fun, and treat your animals like gold. They dont shove a vaccine in your pet and then your out. They really make the pets comfortable and their very friendly to both pets and wonders. The store is clean and very pretty! Alicia (Main Vet) is amazing. So personable and thorough. Shes excellent. Before we found this place we were taking our dog to Southgate on the corner of 32nd Avenue S and 15th Street South in Fargo. (Terrible place) I will never leave this vet and will continue to take my pets here!

Dr. Alicia and her staff are the best! They love and care for your pet as the family members they are. I took my corgis to her years ago - starting back in 2002 when Princess jumped out of a car window and broke her leg! I lost track of her for a few years and was thrilled when she opened up a clinic right across the street from where I work! When my Scarlett was critically ill in 2013, I was so grateful to have the Prairie Winds staff caring for her. I knew she was in the best hands.

Last year our 12 year old cat started having behavioral issues and we werent sure what to do. Prairie Winds helped us to determine what was going on with her, in the end she had dementia and the issue became so great that we unfortunately had to put her to sleep. The Veterinarian and tech came to our home and did the procedure in such a caring and respectful manner. It was a very sad day and we were so thankful that the last thing our sweet girl saw was us and she wasnt scared.
