Im very appreciative of the care that Dr. Dawn Todd provided for my dog, who had the tip of his ear bitten off at the dog park, but Im very disappointed in the way I was treated during my time at the clinic. My dog is 9 months old and is a rescue. We also just moved to Minneapolis two months ago from San Diego, so hes been adjusting to his new surroundings and hasnt had much of a chance to socialize because I dont know many people in the area. When we arrived at the clinic, he was uncomfortable and stressed out, and when he gets that way he becomes protective over me and starts to bark. He is generally a good dog and nice to strangers, but gets high-strung in stressful situations. With that being said: he barked at the ER tech and he barked at Dr. Todd when they came in to examine him, which I think scared them and put them off (understandably so), but the way they responded to my dogs barking was, in my opinion, inappropriate. Immediately, Dr. Todd starting telling me that at his age, he should not be acting so aggressively, and that the reason why hes being so aggressive is due to poor socialization on my part. She called my dog "naughty" and said that she didnt trust him within 10 minutes of walking into the exam room. She didnt say hello to me, ask me how I was feeling about the fact that my dogs ear was bitten, or seem to consider the fact that it was an emotional experience for both me and my dog to be at the emergency clinic and that that could contribute to his aggressive behavior. She made no attempt to ask me what I have done to socialize him since his adoption and didnt ask me about his past or possible reasons why he was behaving the way he was. The way I see it, she saw an aggressive dog and assumed I had done nothing to curb his behavior. I felt that there was a lack of compassion and empathy on her part. Obviously I dont want my dog to behave the way that he does; I dont want him to bark, or be aggressive, or scare people, which is why Ive enrolled him in over 5 training classes and have been trying to get him to interact with other humans as much as I can, since I adopted him. Hes a german shepherd, so he already looks intimidating, and I dont want him to fulfill that stereotype of being a scary dog. But Dr. Todd didnt care to ask me about any of that; she just assumed that he was bad dog and that I wanted him to be that way. To me, if youre a vet working in an ER clinic for the purpose of responding to emergency situations, you should expect and be prepared for tense and stressful circumstances such as the one I presented to her. Like I said, Im grateful for the fact that Dr. Todd was able to treat my dog and didnt refuse her services from me because of my dogs aggression, but I dont think I will return to this clinic for emergency or veterinary care simply because I felt as though I was treated as a poor dog owner and had assumptions made about the way I train my dog that I did not appreciate. The receptionist there is great, though - my dog even liked her.

My boyfriend and I fell in love with a very malnourished and sick stray cat I had found begging for food outside of my work. We tried our best to help her but we were losing the fight. My bf called several vets seeking immediate help. Since we both work evenings we were lucky to find this place. We brought kitty Sheba in as soon as we could, but there was nothing we could do. The staff and doctors were extremely informative to us and compassionate towards our kitty. Unfortunately we had to put little princess Sheba down, but she passed in my loving arms. It was a very difficult experience, but we both took comfort in knowing shes not suffering and the veterinarian staff

My Pom-chi was hit by a car, I ran her here. I was shaking and hysterical. This horrible experience was made better due to their knowledgeable and caring staff! She required surgery, so needed to stay a total of 5 days. They called me twice a day with thorough updates, Made me feel comfortable to visit and call w concerns. After she came home, the genuine care for my dog didnt end. I called w questions, they called to check on her. We still have 6 more weeks of rehab and PT to go through. I have 3 dogs and will never go to another vet!! AWESOME, AMAZING AND KNOWLEDGEABLE!!! The Drs and staff LOVE animals and it shows w their treatment of everyone!

Weve taken both of our dogs here at various times (one for chocolate ingestion, the other for a ruptured anal gland) and they have been so helpful. Ive also called about an abandoned, malnourished cat we took in, and they gave me advice and told me what signs to look for to know if I needed to bring him in. He ended up being fine, but they gave me peace of mind that first night so I didnt have to worry until I could take him to my regular vet. Great staff, convenient location and wonderful service. Thank you!

I was so happy the amazing after hours staff was there at our time of need. New Years Eve my very old guinea pig fell ill, we knew that she wouldnt tolerate treatment. We took her to the AfterHours clinic to be euthanized and the staff was amazing and compassionate. We are so happy we chose them. Pricing was amazingly affordable for the care we received.

Great care, friendly staff. Our regular vet wasnt open when our dog got injured, so we took her to AfterHours on Dale Street. Long wait because they were tending to more serious cases, as they should. Initial treatment, then ongoing follow up with our regular vet. So far, so good.

Excellent and compassionate care during an emergency. You made a sad situation as easy as it could be. Reasonable price. Thank you for all you do.
