CAVEAT: this is a lengthy review, but PLEASE read if you are concerned about your dental health and are looking for a great dentist to help you. Of course every experience is different, but I would just like to clearly and thoroughly tell others about my personal experience at Active Dental. I came here on two separate occasions and both were great experiences! The first time I went in for a consultation/regular check up/cleaning. I had expressed my concerns of periodontal disease and wanted to know whether or not I would have to get a deep scaling/cleaning, a rather costly procedure Ive had before at another dentists office. Both Dr. Patel and the dental hygienist (I believe her name is Macy) were both very kind and professional and made me feel as if my dental health was their top priority. I felt very comfortable expressing my concerns with them and they were very knowledgeable, answering all of my questions. After taking a look at my x-rays, they took additional digital photos of my teeth. Soon after, Dr. Patel sat next to me and went through the photos one by one and expressed his concerns about each individual tooth, pointing out dental issues that he saw that were virtually unnoticeable to my untrained eye, in addition to the dental problems I had described initially. For example, he informed me that I had a slight overbite/overlap that was causing some problems with my smile, affecting some of my bottom teeth leading to some sensitivity. He expressed that it wasnt such a big issue now but may become more problematic 10-15 years from now. They suggested I use Invisalign in the future without sounding like pushy salesman (this is something I will definitely consider in the future when I have the money). Luckily, my gums were fine and I did not have to have the deep scaling procedure done, but they did find four cavities that needed to be filled in addition to some other problem areas that showed the initial stages of decay. They quickly booked a second visit to have my fillings done and went on to proceed to clean my teeth. Macy did a wonderful job and was extremely gentle with my teeth. My second visit was very quick and equally enjoyable. I was greeted immediately when I came in and they were enthusiastic and well prepared. They numbed me and filled in my cavities very quickly and Dr. Patel made sure multiple times that I was without discomfort before, after, and during the entire procedure. Both he and his dental assistant thoroughly explained each and every step of the procedure, informing me of what they were doing. I was out the door in an hour. I really love that they were comprehensive and informative both times, telling me about possible issues with my teeth and for proactively making suggestions. They really seemed to care about me and this is a great reflection of how Dr. Patel runs his practice- where customer service is highly regarded. Dr. Patel and the rest of his staff (even the receptionists) all were very inviting, considerate, incredibly friendly, and professional- very refreshing considering my previous dental experiences at other offices. In addition, I understand that some of the top reasons that turn people away from visiting a dentist are 1) the pain and 2) the price. Addressing the pain issue, Dr. Patel and his team try to make it as comfortable as they can to limit the discomfort. As for the issue of cost, I also had some concerns about the price of the procedures since it is well known that a trip to the dentist can make a quick dent in your wallet, especially if youre not on top of your dental health (its been about 9 months since my last visit to a dentist). The price was the most intimidating for me, considering I have no dental insurance, but they offer an annual membership for those without insurance that reduces the cost of many dental procedures and cleanings, which I found very affordable. Overall, a wonderful experience! I HIGHLY recommend Active Dental!

This was the worst experience me and my five year old have ever had. From the phone call last thursday. I called thursday due to my sons mouth swelling and expressed my concerns of the price. I was quoted an estimate of 120 for an abstraction, was very pleased made an appointment for saturday. comes Sat morning we got 15 min early. They did the x-ray and exam than decided we were going to go ahead and try to pull it. I asked even with it infected would they still be able to and doc said yes. Then it was time to finalize the price and sign. At that point the price had gone to 245 because I had not decided to do the dental plan they offer. That was not explained to me before hand. It would have only been 120 if I paid and additional amount for the discount. So I still decided to do it. They honored my childrens dentist price of 220. so they go to try and the dentist then tells me they cannot pull it because it was to infected. I was never told it was because my son was not compliant. He than prescribed an antibiotic and recommended he go back to his dentist. That seemed like a suggestion to me. So I paid 79.99 for the exam and x ray which would have been included in the 220. Its been a week now and I called to schedule the abstraction. I was told that he could not because the dentist had referred him out and that it was best considering my sons in compliance. At this point I said that is not what I was told. I was informed that my sons tooth was to infected to numb and that he did a great job and was a champ and that they understood giving that it could not be numbed. The receptionist Tracy continued to say we so sorry we can no longer help. I said I would be contacting the better business bureau to file a complaint. I am very upset at this whole situation. I now have paid 79.99 for them to now tell me they cannot help and I will have to pay another 220 for his doctor to do it. I had no problem taking my son to the dentist but being a single mom of four with two being 1 yr old twins I was trying to save money. in there website it says they work very well with all ages even with anxious patients. This is not true. I am not writing this to say he is a bad doctor or anything but to say there customer service was awful and very disrespectful. Whats more aggravating is they were so sweet in saying he was a champ to find out that they wrote he was in compliant and refer him out . I hope that anyone who reads this that has kids will take in mind that there advertising of working well with kids and anxious patients is far from true.

Dr. Patel and his staff are incredible! I needed to switch dentists and I was looking for the best in Irving. I have certainly found it at Active Dental! I showed up for my appointment right on time, 1/11/17, and even as a new patient didnt have to tell my life story. I expected a long wait time and tons of paperwork, just like Ive experienced at every other dental or medical office, but I was called back within 10 minutes of my arrival. The hygienist, Jessica, is the sweetest! She was very comforting and knowledgeable as she measured my gums and explained things she noticed on my X-rays. Dr. Patel saw me shortly after X-rays and actually apologized for my wait which was only a mere 5-10 minutes - what a gentleman! Dr. Patel was very thorough in explaining the work that needed to be done. Ive never had a dentist care enough to explain the what and why to me. He was very frank, in a personable manner - a rarity these days. Micaela came in about 5 minutes after Dr. Patel was done and went over all of my payment options. I have always been astounded by pricing at dentists but Active Dental has amazing deals! I was pleasantly surprised and scheduled all my work that day. On my second visit, 1/12/17, I was called back within 5 minutes of my arrival. Jessica welcomed me with a genuine smile. She explained what she was going to do during my deep cleaning and was thorough and attentive to any discomfort. Afterwards, she was more than happy to answer my questions - not once did I feel rushed. Thats something else unique about Active Dental. They set aside time for you to be taken care of. They dont overbook and rush you out the door. They wont even schedule work for you if they know they dont have a time slot long enough. Why doesnt every place do this?! Genius! I have more work to be done and, surprisingly, am looking forward to it. If youre looking for the best dentist, dental hygienist, and dental staff in DFW look no further than Active Dental!
