After reading somewhat negative reviews that didnt seem like they would pertain to my medical issue, I decided to try this dermatology center based on two criteria: the distance from my home, and the age/experience of the doctors. While my overall experience was positive, I am compelled to alert anyone reading reviews to BE WARY of any after care products they try to sell you while you check out. A $4.50 (Targets price) tube of Polysporin ointment for my 10-stitch incision was sold to me for $10 plus tax while I was making my follow-up appointment at the counter. No mention was made that this product could be purchased elsewhere for less when I said, "$10? Really?" just a somewhat apologetic-sounding, "Yeah," by the woman at the counter. Because Id only ever used Neosporin for regular scrapes in the past and I was specifically told NOT to use that, I assumed that the Polysporin was a stronger compound, or contained prescription-only ingredients so I succumbed to the "doctors office knows best" mentality and just paid it and left. Imagine my surprise today when I was in the first aisle at Target to get more supplies for my incision and saw the exact same product for HALF the price. I understand that when a medical practice that has cosmetic surgery as a large part of their business located in a PRIME upper-middle class intersection, it could be assumed that all patients are willing and happy to pay a 220% mark-up for the convenience of not having to stop at the Walgreens down the street to buy common OTC after-care products. My assumption was that all patients there are NOT viewed as cash cows and the fact that the product could (or could NOT) be bought elsewhere for less would be mentioned (as it is at ALL of my other medical care professionals from my family doctor to the optometrist). Sadly, because I do not live in that adjacent, well-known neighborhood and cannot throw money carelessly around, this experience has left me both disappointed and angry. Disappointed with the medical business for this being their practice, and angry with myself for not being smarter/more assertive about my "spider sense" tingling while paying $10 tube of ointment even though I was shaking and full of anesthetic. I WILL be saying something to both the doctor and the front office staff when I go to get my stitches removed, but Im just chalking this up to "burn me once, shame on you". I wont get burned twice and I hope YOU wont get burned either by having this knowledge going in. Again, the entire other 90% of the experience was positive so I am still recommending this place based on that.

Topic: Complaint against Dr Warthans billing office when receiving a refund in a timely manner, and how they originally messed up when they actually filed the claim. My wife had an appt with Dr Warthan on Jan 18th of this year. The doctors office had us pay the full bill up front as we had not met our deductible. This was required even though the doctor is in our network. This is actually another issue I have in that in network providers should be willing to file with insurance first and then bill later once the exact amount owed is known. Anyway, I talked to Dr Warthans billing office the day after my wifes appointment to make sure that when they filed with my insurance, that they filed such that any refund would get paid to me directly from our insurance company in case we had paid too much. They agreed to do that !! I kept looking for the doctors claim to reach my insurance and be processed. As it turned out, by the time the claim reached my insurance company and was processed we had met our deductible. Thus we actually only owed the co-insurance of approximately $35. So now, we were owed approximately $380 !! Not a small amount of money. The claim was received by insurance on 2/3/17. So after a couple weeks, I called my insurance company on 2/21 and that is when I found out that the doctors office had sent the refund to the doctors office. Thus revealing that Dr Warthans office had filed with insurance INCORRECTLY !!! I contacted Dr Warthan billing office the same day and found out that they had received the payment on 2/16 and that it would take a FEW WEEKS to get the refund to me. I told them that that was NOT acceptable (and I admit I lost my temper). I was told that was the process. Some process, they expect payment immediately, yet pay back after a few weeks. I called and complained to my insurance company and they conferenced in the billing office. They told the insurance rep the same thing, except they said that I not given them the chance to say they could expedite it and it would take 1-2 weeks to get a refund. That is correct (as I had lost my temper originally), and I still told them that was not acceptable at all. As it turns out, I did not receive my refund until 4/3. I had actually called the billing office on 3/28 and was told then that it was still getting processed !! So it took them from 2/16 when they received payment until 3/30 before my refund was processed. THAT IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. I have told my wife not to go to this doctors office anymore.

Ive been going to WARTHAN DERMATOLOGY for about a year now and seen Dr. Mandy Warthan, M.D. and Lindsay McCauley, P.A.,. Both have treated me very well and I would highly recommend WARTHAN DERMATOLOGY to everyone I know. Ive read some reviews about this place and I can not be leave what Im reading. Im always greeted in a very professional, positive and friendly way. I feel so bless knowing that my skin is being looked over with the keen eyes that has spotted early stages of skin cancer. WARTHAN DERMATOLOGY doctors are sisters and if I got my info right, their father was also a dermatologist, so to say that the doctors at WARTHAN DERMATOLOGY knows what to look for and how to treat your skin, would be an understatement!!! I have never been pressured into buying any of their products and was told that Walgreen sells one of the products I needed for a few dollars cheaper. Im never had a billing problem with this business, they bill insurance and no problems at all. As for my last thought, its not easy to have anyone look over your skin when your so out of shape and Dr. Mandy Warthan is professional and tries to get the exam done as soon as possible and with outstanding quality. Ignore the bad reviews, you wont go wrong here.

Would never go back to this clinic. I went in to have a 2-3 mm size what I thought was a cyst on my cheek looked at. I went in on time and 30 mins after appt time I finally went back. After waiting in a room for another 30 min. She came in for a total of 30 secs. She said "yup its a cyst and we will schedule a return visit to get removed. Wont take but a couple mi utes and 1 stitch to remove. You will never no it was there. Went back another time to get the cyst removed. After waiting another 20-30 mins after appt time. Went back to a room and waited another hour for her to come in and cut this thing out of my cheek. It took her a total of 3 minutes to do the thing and then said thanks and Tha k you. Went back 2 more times that I did have to pay a office fee everytime which I thought was a rip. A tin cyst that I shouldnt even know was there is know a 1/2 scar on my cheek. I should of left alone as you couldnt see anyway. Will never go back and dont recommend.
