I do not recommend Dr. Ramirez. My son was with her From his 2mo to his 6mo appointments, and every single time there was an issue. She never remembered his name, she had no idea about his development and never bothered to ask- she kept her eyes on a piece of paper and ran through a checklist, then dismissed herself and left. She vocally and almost argumentatively "discussed" her opinions on circumcision, which were pro-circumcision, after I had explained that I had absolutely no interest in having the procedure done with my son. I told her repeatedly and adamantly that when it came to surgical procedures on infants, I was wholly opposed- the only exceptions being that a condition would not heal itself or cause major issues. This became a problem again when my son had an umbilical granuloma, which is a very common and usually self-resolving issue. His was mild, and as his mother I noticed that it was healing, slowly but definitely. (At an appointment where I tried to explain this, she actually had the audacity to try to tell me I was WRONG and she remembered it being worse! I assure you, as his MOTHER, I knew and was aware of the changing condition here) And the procedure to remove it used chemicals on open skin. She wrote me a referral, which I did not use- I chose to let the granuloma heal on its own. It did, about a month later, and my son has a beautiful, perfect, healthy belly button! But when I told Ramirez I had not used her referral, I got a LOT of attitude about how "I have no idea how inconvenient it is for her to write one." Well, Im not sorry for "inconveniencing" her for what I felt/feel was the best choice for my baby- and Im also not sorry for switching to a pediatrician who not only remembers his name- but knew him before we had our first visit! Our new doctor is wonderful and we never imagined a pediatrician so gentle, involved, and caring. SUCH an upgrade! Note: On a related note, if you have sons, I just dont think Dr. Ramirezs office is boy-friendly at all. Im pro-gender neutral parenting personally, however her office is entirely pink, stuffed with dolls and flowers and paintings of girls... Not a single item seems fit for more boyish children or gender neutrality.

Update - Change of insurance and Ive experienced other pediatricians and Dr. Ramirez is by far the best! As a mother Im stubborn and Im opinionated but Im no doctor and Ive ran into those "mom knows best" scenarios and for some things thats true but its those things I wouldnt even think to look for that she sees. I thank god she is who she is which is 100% pediatrician, and Id even go as far as saying she is like a second mother to her patients and an evil mother in law to us moms if she feels it is in the best interest of the child and as a mom we do not like hearing we are wrong but Im thankful that she did what she felt necessary to insure the best health and wellbeing of our children. Gosh, one of my kids was suffering from a disorder that was causing failing grades and low self-esteem because of it. Everyone, and I mean everyone (google, school, other doctors, and myself) thought it was ADD or laziness. Thank goodness Doctor Ramirez saw something different and showed me examples. My child suffers from a thyroid disorder and that diagnosis and stabilizing medication has been life changing! Shes introduced me to the child that was trying so hard to show me what a truly amazing child she is. Im so proud and I feel horrible that she went through all she did and am so thankful for Dr. Ramirez she is the strong voice my daughter needed behind her. I know my kids are in the best possible care under Dr. Ramirez.

We have used Dr. Ramirez to mixed results. At one point my daughter had pneumonia but I couldnt even get a phone call returned. Most recently I took her in to get the HPV vaccine. Dr Ramirez said she couldnt because my daughter didnt have her period yet. I checked with several nurses, doctors and the drug maker and this was patently false. Additionally, she said it was a required that my 11 year old daughter have a full understanding of STD"s prior to getting the vaccine. I combed through TX law and this was requirement is completely made up by her to push her beliefs on my family. I am so disappointed that despite recommendations from the AMA and the CDC Dr Ramirez thinks her own personal or religious beliefs are more important that the well being of the children she treats. Absolutely shameful, what a terrible doctor you are.

Today my daughter had a sick and well visit with Dr. Ramirez. We just relocated to Texas from out of state, so this was her first visit as my daughter is a new patient. From the time I made the appointment, to the time I left Dr. Ramirezs office, her and her team were nothing but professional and friendly. I felt extremely comfortable with her knowledge, open communication, and professionalism. There are no gray areas with me, so Im either very satisfied or completely turned off. In this case, I am very satisfied and I dont foresee my daughter having another pediatrician as long as we reside in Dallas.

My kids have been patients of Dr. Ramirez for 4 years and we absolutely love her! Though there have been a few times where the wait times have been longer than expected, its such a rare occasion that its certainly not a strike against the doctor or the practice. Dr. Ramirez has always shown a personal and compassionate touch to our children and to my wife and I. She has a no-nonsense kind of approach but weve always appreciated her honesty and willingness to talk in laymens terms isntead of just medical jargon. I would highly reccomend Dr. Ramirez to others.

Well never EVER go back to see Dr. Ramirez again! Her wait times are SO Long because she just talks non-medical related topics, then charges more than other doctors. Ummm wait longer get less and pay more. Really? She does not return my calls when I had a question. The attitude when finally going to the office multiple times is "because I am a doctor, I am smarter than you" attitude. Inexcusable and unacceptable. You can imagine, I do not recommend this office.
