Ive been a patient for a few years and I never really had a problem with anything. Dr, nurse and office staff seem nice enough. Im about 40 lbs overweight so I tried to make an appt with the weight loss Dr. I called the number and got a recording to leave a msg. I left a msg with my name and contact info. ( on the recording it said they answer text msgs much faster but call me crazy I would rather not discuss any medical info via text) It was maybe 2 days later I get a text msg from I guess the nurse. I returned the text asking to make an appt. She then responded that there would be a group meeting the next night. I have 3 kids so a evening meeting would not work and again I really didnt want to join a group of people to discuss my medical issues and concerns about my weight loss. I again asked her for an appt during school hours when my kids would be at school. ( All this by text which I find extremely unprofessional, it would take less time to pick up the phone have a conversation with a patient. ) I was getting pretty upset by now, all I wanted to do was schedule an appt, which I would pay for. She then texted me back saying " well I guess I could call you and tell you all about the program". Great, finally we were getting somewhere. I asked her to please call before 4 pm. She agreed and that was 3 months ago. Still no call or appt. Why is it so complicated to pick up your phone and contact a patient??? Why would any professional medical Dr or nurse feel it was okay to text to discuss health issues??? I mean appt reminder text msgs are okay but thats it. Hopefully they get it together.

A 1 star review is being generous. I went in after vomiting all morning and being in severe pain, blood in my urine. They told me I was dehydrated and thought it was my appendix, sent me to an imaging center and then called there and told me my insurance had denied their referral for imaging and wouldnt cover it and that I should go to the hospital if I felt it was necessary, or to go home with the Zofran they prescribed for the vomiting. I called the insurance company immediately, come to find out they did not deny their imaging requests, just required a peer to peer consult which they refused to do. Lying to people about what their insurance tells them should be illegal, and it is definitely immoral. I ended up in the hospital in severe pain later that night and the ER doctor was dumbfounded at the "diagnosis" I was given earlier. He said it was quite apparent to him even before the scans that I had a large kidney stone and that their appendix concern was no where close to logical. They also left me in the exam room for over half an hour with nobody coming in to give me my discharge/check out papers. Come to find out, Mia the nurse practicioner had gone to lunch and forgot she hadnt finished with her patient! So unprofessional on top of grossly misdiagnosing the issues. I will never return here.

You would think when you go to a doctors office you would be seen by a doctor. Not at this place. Ive been here twice and every time Ive been I was seen by a ignorant nurse. She would talk to me as if I was pretending to be sick and that I wasnt sure if I had back aches from a car accident. The ONLY reason I went to this place is because it was in the area and my family doctor is an hour away. Also I dont think it is really professional to tell your patient they are 12 years old-asking where your parent is when they are a grown adult in their mid 20s. I wouldnt suggest this place to anyone because they just want your COPAY. And they just want you to come back when you are even more sick. Seriously if you have had a fever for over 4 days and you are having sever headache wouldnt you want to help that person. Furthermore, the nurse couldnt even listen to my lungs in her stethoscope, she kept on telling me I wasnt sitting up straight in a rudely manner...maybe because Im congested?! Just a thought. ANY SUGGESTION TO PEOPLE WHO ATTEMPT TO GO HERE....SEE A REAL DOCTOR who went to medical school.

The front desk is nothing out of the ordinary. I had to see Dr. Mangalick regarding my ADHD results, and I had a terrible experience. Not only did Dr. Mangalick basically called me a liar, but he also said that I was wasting my time by going to the outstanding psychologist that my insurance company referred me to for the testing. He told me that it would be best to wait to get tested at the school that I was planning to transfer into. But I cant call my current school and work and say... Can you not grade my papers until next year when I get tested again? Something like ADHD shouldnt be treated like that. Specially when Im in college. What a joke. Seriously. The only part of the office that was somewhat nicer was the lady collecting my co pay. What a joke. Save your time and money, and dont go to San Marcos Family Medicine! Theres way better doctors in the San Marcos area.

I have had so many problems with this office. Theyve switched me through different doctors 4 times. Ive had lab testing done and they were supposed to call and tell me the results. I never received a call and when I decided to call them, they couldnt find a doctor so the person on the phone just looked through my file and said the results and gave me no information regarding them. I also recently made an appt with them and showed up. The woman told me that someone should have let me know that they couldnt see me anymore because they didnt accept my plan. She told me they had discharged me in May. Why was I able to make an appt if I was discharged? Nothing was ever about the patient there. I was never informed of things going on with my health. The doctors never took their time with you. It was almost as if I was inconveniencing them.

I have been going there for over 10yrs. I have not had any problems until my doctor just disappeared from there with no warning. No one will say a word, that was three years ago. After that I was treated by a wonderful nurse, my husband and I loved this woman. She would sit and explain things and work with us to find solutions. Now she has disappeared with no warning. Now here is a doctor I have never heard of and he has no bedside manner, very ignorant. "i will only give you 10 pills and expect for it to last for three months, it wont bother me if you go to another doctor". There has been a high turn over rate of assistance, and the ladies in the front are unprofessional, sitting and laughing on Facebook not doing anything. Oh forgot to mention you are seen as an ATM.

Just my Opinion
The office staff is typical rude and dismissive. They seem to be engaged in anything but the needs of the patients. I stopped in to pick up a prescription and they acted like it was a real imposition to help me especially since it wasnt at the desk and they had to actually get up and go find it. I was in a hurry and called to be sure it was ready. I was told it was ready and would be at the front desk. All that being said, My main concern is that the doctor I was seeing left the group and I was assigned to the new doctor in the group. I tried to give her a chance but it just isnt working out. I am currently looking for another practice. I miss my previous doctor!
