I took my wife to the ER around 1130pm because she has been extremely suicidal and she decided she needed help in anyway possible. When we went to check in to the ER she started vomiting which in turn hurt the wound on her stomach (that she got from someone robbing her at knife point which ended in a stab to the stomach) and I expressed to the lady at the desk that she needs mental help and she is in a dangerous state of mind and since shes also been sick if they could possibly check for infection in the wound. Later we found out that she pretty much ignored the fact we went for mental health and her being suicidal and just put her down for stomach pain. We waited for a room for 2.5 hours which isnt a big deal seeing they cant control that. We got a room around 1:30Am and the Dr came in to talk around 2:00Am. All he said was "so your wound hurts huh?" and glanced at it and ignored everything we tried to say to him. He was out of the room within 2 minutes and then the nurse came in and I tried explaining to her the main reason we were in the ER that night and we would like a crisis worker to help us get the correct help for my wife. The nurse was sweet and sounded like she was going to pass on the information she gathered from us. Well, between 2:00Am til right before 6:00Am only one person came in the room and it was only to restock the cabinets. For 4 hours we didnt get checked on and didnt hear a single word from anyone. They transferred us rooms around 6:00Am and had us wait another hour before talking to anyone. The crisis worker came in and he actually listened to us and understood the severity and that we werent really there for the stomach pain. He understood my wifes desire to be admitted into the psych and was going to make it happen. Unfortunately his shift ended and we got a new crisis worker and she didnt want to listen to us and just said we are sending you home. My wife was extemely distraught at that answer because shes been feeling this way for weeks and she finally grew the courage to reach out for help. At this point my wife wasnt making sense so I explained clearly what she was going through what shes afraid of and why she wants/NEEDS admission. The crisis worker kept interrupting both us then stormed out the room. She later came back saying we arent going to admit you, and he reasons seemed like poor excuses, she said "Other hospitals and ourselves wont admit you because of the insurance." Less than a minute later she said "There isnt a single open bed in all of Utah so youre on your own." We basically begged for any form of help for her and she wouldnt listen and said "Your just faking it so youre not going." My wife said she was scared and she truly believes she dont think she will make it on her own and she has thought of several plans on harming her self. The lady said now your manipulating me and I wont help you and rushed out the room and never came back. 30 minutes later the nurse came in and wouldnt speak to us and gave us discharge papers and walked out. Im sorry this was long but this Can not go unheard. We spent 9 and a half hours being disrespected and mainly ignored when we came begging for help. Apparently if you feel suicidal they want you to just end your life then to bother them cause they just dont give a damn. I hope a higher up reads this and seriously improves this "crisis" team. By the way, the Hosiptal 5 minutes away from here actually brought her in and listened to her and has been supportive and extremely helpful. Thank you and I hoped I save someone from trying to help them selves by going to these unprofessional inconsiderate money hungry "caregivers"

If I could give a negative star I would. McKay-Dee has totally gone down hill. My father came into the ER with a Kidney Stone. If you have ever had one you know how bad they hurt, you feel like you are going to die! He was throwing up and had to use the restroom. He had no where to throw up in or at. The restroom was closed. My mom went up to the desk and the lady at the desk was so rude, she acted so bugged, told her where another restroom was and didnt even get her something for him to throw up in. My poor father was so sick and in so much pain, he was on the floor in the waiting room wailing in pain. As my mom was watching other people go into the ER ahead of them with snotty noses. One lady went in with a bloody nose, and even asked the nurse if my father could go ahead of her, and she said "no, its almost HIS turn." I dont understand why you cant triage!! I get that the "heart patients" and the very "critical" patients need to come first. But you cant tell me that the huge ER was completely full with Heart patients. In fact I know it wasnt my mom saw plenty of people walk in before them that wasnt. That is ridiculous! They might as well called the paramedics so they could of spent even more money, but would of been seen immediately. You need to have maybe a INSTA CARE and an ER, walk in the same door, have an actual triage nurse, say, You go this way, you go that way! Then the people that arent critical (Thanks OBAMA) that come in with paper cuts, no insurance taking up the actual people that work hard and cant afford to come into the ER unless they are dying can be seen in a timely manner. And the (Thanks OBAMA) people that can come into the ER with the sniffles everyday with no insurance can quit taking up the time of the people that really do need emergency help! And will pay thousands upon thousands of hard earned money for an IV and medications. And like I said, can only afford to go into the ER when they are literally dying! So when my Father was finally seen, the first nurse he saw was very nice (that is the one star I decided to give) PS when they FINALLY got back (2 hours) the ER was NOT busy, tons of rooms empty. Nurses sitting on their phones. So frustrating. Doctor was terrible, other nurse terrible! Such rude people. Tests took forever. Everything took forever. Would of been better going to another hospital. They Will NEVER go back. They told everyone they know. I work at another hospital, my hospital would never ever treat anyone that way. Even when we get busy, we arent rude! WE TRIAGE! I suggest you start working on your customer service, and your triage skills.

Ive had appointments here which were fine and great. The ER visit I had for severe left knee pain this morning was horrible. I have never been to an ER where they take you from the waiting room to the xray room then put you back in the waiting room. Ive been through a lot of crap growing up so Ive been in a lot of ERs but this one was the worst. Im crying from my pain, named my pain level at an 8. When they finally do put me in a room, the dr comes in and asks if they did an xray, I told him yes but I havent gotten results, he then decides to diagnose me without the results but tells me hell take a look and get back to me but will have the nurse administer some anti-inflammatory. Nurse comes in, hes getting the shot ready, doesnt bother telling me the name of the drug, I have to ask. After he tells me, I told him I have never had that before. Then I ask him, before the shot, "did my xray results come back? The dr said hed get back to me with those and I havent heard back." He looks at his computer screen and tells me the xray shows no breaks or fractures of the bone." Oh awesome because he told me I might have either a torn or strained ligament Soooooo they didnt even do a test to make sure. The nurse then gives me the shot, which Ive never had before and then immediately had me leave the hospital. No waiting to make sure I didnt have an adverse reaction and no rx for painkillers besides 600mg ibuprofen which I TOLD them Im already taking 800mg and its NOT WORKING. They mustve been super busy I guess... What with 6 of the nurses up front by check-in all learning how to give each other massages and giggling 12 feet away while a family was waiting to hear news about their friend whod been stabbed through the chest and was currently in surgery for over 3 hours with no update and panicking.
