If I could, Id give a 2.5 This is really long. I had my baby delivered there last year. The nurse who helped deliver my baby was kind of testy, I dont know if it was the end of her shift or what. The nurses who helped me in postpartum were SO kind, though a couple of times it took over an hour for one to attend to me when I had asked for medication. My baby was kept in the infant room and had to have an IV put in. It was suggested I not be in the room, because it can make the babies cry a lot--understandable--but when I went in the room later, all of the nurses were sitting around chatting and when I went over to my baby, she had dried blood spots on her head and hand. I didnt care that they were sitting around chatting, but it frustrated me that they couldnt take a minute to wipe off her blood before doing that. My baby had low oxygen levels and they couldnt seem to get them up. A few times I asked the infant nurses questions, and they kind of blew me off, like I was being an over-worried mom. I know they get that a lot, but I guess I expect to not be treated that way by nurses/doctors. My husband and I spent the whole next day waiting around for someone to tell us what was going on, going into the infant room, asking if anyone knew when the doctor would come in, etc. We heard nothing until late that afternoon when one of the postpartum nurses told me she thought she heard my baby was going to have to be life flighted. What?! I hadnt heard ANYTHING about this! The hospital was clean, the delivery nurse helped me figure out how to nurse, my baby was delivered just fine. There were just fine things, it just felt like the nurses in general had this idea of patients being overly needy and worried when they dont need to be, and that definitely influenced the way they treated us. This was only a one-time experience, so maybe it wouldnt be like this all the time?

I was recommended to go to this facility by a friend, not knowing this was an Intermountain Healthcare facility. Almost all of my experiences in the past with most Intermountain facilities and services has been pretty awful, so imagine my surprise when we walked right into the ER, had zero wait time to get in, and I was processed into the ER in an incredibly timely manner. Not only that, but I was treated incredibly well too. One of my few complaints was the time I had to wait to get discharge, but this is a very minor complaint at best. I would rather wait a few hours to get discharged than get crappy treatment and discharged quickly. I went in thinking my stomach issues were about to become an emergency, thankfully this was not the case at all, and the entire staff was great at easing my mind on the matter. The only other issue I can think of right now is that Alta View is under construction for what seems to an enormous (and pretty awesome looking) expansion, and it also seems as though that they have relocated their ER temporarily. As a result, the hospital size is a bit constricted, and I cant give it my full recommendation as I can foresee other potential patients having issues with parking and wait time. Ending this review on the positive note, it seems to be that the stereotype that hospital cafeterias have filling but unsatisfying food. This is absolutely not the case. Me and my partner went to the cafeteria after our visit, and holy crap, I was incredibly impressed. I hope that all of my future visits to Intermountain facilities go as smooth as this.

Avoid this hospital at all costs, because it will COST you big! I have used this hospital in the past and it has ALWAYS been on my Insurance Providers list. Now, at 2:30am I use the same hospital I have in the past and when I get the HUGE bill for only 2 hours in the ER, they tell me that just this one IHC Hospital "Alta View" is not on my Providers Plan anymore. Why didnt they tell me when I was checking in? I was conscious and answering questions. I gave them my Blue Cross Blue Shield of Utah card and paid my CoPay with my credit card! Where did IHCs Customer Service policy go wrong? I turned over the check that BCBS of Utah sent me and am not trying to get out of paying the bill. But now IHC: Alta View is charging me the highest amount possible which is 3 TIMES what BCBS was willing to pay under the contracted price that they pay at all of the other hospitals. And, to top it all off, they will NOT let me talk to a real live person. They make me write a letter and FAX (yes fax) it in to their Patient Financial Services Department. Again, this is not about trying to avoid paying the bill, this is about Alta View Hospital knowing full well hat they were not contracted BCBS when they took my insurance card. DO NOT USE THIS HOSPITAL UNLESS YOU LIKE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

I have never known a hospital to turn away grandparents of a new baby until now. My husband and I (the grandparents of my sons new baby) were treated very rude by a nurse and told to leave and was reprimanded in public out at the desk, instead of her being professional and pulling us aside in private and explaining politely instead of making sure that she was in charge and throwing around her authority. I am not a stupid or insensitive person. I am reasonable. BUT my youngest (very young) son had just had his first child and its a very emotional time. My husband and I did not need to be disrespected that way. We wanted to be there only for a short time and should not have been told to leave while the other set of grandparents were allowed to stay. I will let everyone I know of the treatment from this nurse. I am sorry that she may be immune to giving a crap about the significance of a birth of a baby since she sees it on a day to day basis, but for us it was a breathtaking, miraculous, precious, possibly for some a once in a lifetime moment that I feel she denied us.

Saw Cardiologist Armond Lapine. They changed my Dr last minute. I had an appointment with J Lee Burke. They did not ask me or tell me in advance. He just came in to introduce himself and I was think who are you? Had a mild heart attack. Saw a Primary Care Dr who referred me to here. They were fully booked for a month. When I came in to see them they did not believe me when when I told them my symptoms and what happened and acted like I was stupid or making them up and any further testing was just humoring me. I had a very scary event and they played it off as it was no big deal because I wasnt about to die. Do I have to be dying to get good care? If youre not about to die. Dont come here unless you are actually having full blown symptoms right when you come in, be sure to plan your heart attack, as theyre booked a month in advance. Awful care. Felt very rushed, like an ER. Go somewhere else. A specialist is supposed to make you feel special, not like youre a liar.
