March 16th I went to Apex after hearing about them on a radio ad. The had a new building that they had just completed in Sandy and I thought to myself, if Im going to a dentist, I want it to be someone with the best and newest equipment. It turned out I had a few cavities. The actual process of repairing the cavities seemed to go rather well. It wasnt until after the next day after the numbness had completely gone, that I notice my lower jaw was aching. The dentist, Dr. Armstrong was courteous and made a follow-up call where I reported such. Now, I had just had cavities filled on both sided, top and bottom so I thought it might be internal bruising causing the pain and after a few days it would heal and Id be back to my old self. Rather, a few days later my jaw continued to ache as well be sensitive to hot and cold (cold mainly) as well as pressure when chewing harder stuff. None of which I experienced before. On April 6th, I went in for a post-op where I was seen by a dental hygienist & then another doctor whos name I cant remember. Everything seemed to check out ok and they treated me with a double coat of a product designed to reduce the sensitivity. This did help the sensitivity, however, my jaw still continued aching and about a week later the sensitivity had returned. Now its 1AM on April 25th & Im writing this review because my jaw is aching to the point where its difficult not to focus on it and just fall asleep. My complaint has nothing to do with the friendliness of the staff or quality of accommodations, they get a five star there (though I do want to note that chair I was in during the post-op had a broken arm rest so the building must have been new but not all the equipment), rather, my experience after. Sure, the cavities caused discomfort when I was eating root snacks & chewing with my molars, but since then its been a constant ache when I breath cold air in, drink a cold or hot beverage, chew... I went in with a little discomfort & traded that for a whole lot. And my teeth have NEVER been sensitive in the past though Ill admit that I dont like ice pops. Now, Ive had cavities in the past. In fact, some of the cavities they were filling had formed on the edge of the previous treatment. however, I have never experienced anything like this. Since sugar doesnt appear to be something causing pain right now (its hard to really say since theres constant aching), I feel the cavities have been completely addressed. So, my only other explanation is that the product used for the filling conducts temperature & pressure better than the stuff used in the past by other dentists. After about a week of pain, I scheduled a follow-up visit for the doctors at Apex to take a second look. The doctor on staff took me back, physically looked at my teeth, then evaluated my bite & determined that the bite was the issue. Some minor work was performed to make the adjustments & I was sent on my way. After my first follow up visit, I continued to experience a constant ache in my lower jaw as well as increased sensitivity to cold/hot & pressure. The pressure would be from something like a sunflower seen baked into bread, would cause much more pain the regular aching. Armstrong looked at my bite again (for some reason these guys think everything has to do with the bite) & made some additional adjustments. He also told me to start using toothpaste intended for sensitive teeth & sent me home with some paste to apply to my teeth over the next few days. More than 6 months later, I still suffer from constant ache & pain. Ive decided to cancel the appointment scheduled for September 2016. I thought I was going to a dental practice with the newest technology and the highest trained dentist. What I got is something that used hand-me-down/broken equipment and a dental team that has negatively impacted my day-to-day comfort. If youre asking "are they good?" To sum up my entire experience... No, theyre not good.

If you want to be over charged, treated like just another number and be billed for things that you have no idea about two months later, this is the place for you! I have AWFUL anxiety when it comes to dentists, ever since I was about 7 years old. I have been to cleanings on and off over the past few years, but I did not have insurance through college and the first couple years after, so I have not been able to make an appointment to get my teeth cleaned. I chose apex because they were open late and worked with my schedule. I will now take time off work to go somewhere else. Upon arriving I told the assistant about my anxiety. She just kindof brushed me off, and the dentist was cold and unsympathetic towards my fear and anxiety. Basically treated me like I was a horrible person for not having been to a dentist in a while. The only good thing was the hygienist, who was actually really nice. Upon leaving the office with another appointment to come back and get a few things fixed, I was in shock at what it was going to cost me WITH INSURANCE. I called a few days later and canceled my appointment simply because I couldnt afford it and my husbands first appointment because I was disappointed in the way I was treated and will be going somewhere else. I canceled these appointments over 2 weeks before the appointment would have been. TWO MONTHS later I received an unexplained bill for $25 no cost breakdown, no nothing. I had left that appointment with owing nothing, and magically after I cancel two appointments I called 4 times and left multiple messages, no response. After getting another bill in the mail today, my husband called 9 times and they finally picked up and simply said "we dont know and the lady who does is gone for the day." Dont waste your time here, especially if you have severe anxiety like I do, they dont care about you or your well-being.

This was my first visit to their WJ location! Upon entry, I immediately could tell that it was a "high end" dental office. So that alone made me believe I wouldnt be cared for as I had hoped. I CLEARLY misjudged the office by its appearance, and the BEAUTIFUL models they have as staff!! I couldnt have been MORE SATISFIED with the amount of LOVE and CARE that I received afterwards! Dr Welch greeted me while I was in the lobby, and made me feel comfortable right away!! He was VERY engaging, and he really cared about my situation. Despite running into a snag with them not being able to confirm my insurance information, and possibly requiring me to make a $98 payment upfront, Melyn was able to get it confirmed, (even tho my health insurance office was closed.) She was SUPER helpful explaining all my financial options available to me, and was really genuine and went ABOVE and BEYOND, letting me know that she lived close by, and would go out of her way to get me my prescription, over the weekend, if needed. This put my dental anxiety at ease completely! From the extra special care Dr Welch gave me during the extraction, along with Ty, who informed me about my after care. I knew I was in GOOD hands!! Tilly was EXTREMELY HELPFUL during my appoitment, letting me know how GREAT I was doing the entire time! She showed REAL compassion and love throughout my entire process, up until I left the office. Never before had I been so cared for and loved, by any dentist, in my entire life!! Im definitely considering changing dentists, and becoming a permanent patient of Dr Welch and Apex Dental. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
