I have been coming to this hospital for six years now. I had my first surgery here in 2012. I have only noticed the quality and care of patients decline in this time. It is not the hospital it was six years ago, but especially in the past two years it has taken a serious turn for the worse. I had surgery here on July 20, 2016. Prior to surgery the anesthetists were argumentative with me when they asked if I had sleep apnia and I said I did not. They insisted I did, although it was not documented in my medical file nor had I ever shown any symptoms. They were extremely unprofessional with their insistence. I told my Dr about this, and he confirmed post-surgery that I did not have sleep apnia. The anesthetists never apologized for treating me so rudely. Then post surgery the nurse called to me from the next patient over that I needed to wake up. She was so busy with other post-opt patients she never came to check on me. I called to her to tell her I was in pain, but she would not come see me. Finally, after crying for 30 minutes, she came and said to me "you have been crying for 30 minutes, what is wrong with you?" I told her I was in pain and she finally checked my IV. It had fallen out sometime either during or after the surgery. She tried to stick me again, but then called for someone to take me to my room where she said "I would be more comfortable." It was close to an hour after surgery and I still did not have any pain medications. When the nurses were setting me up in my room I told them I was in extreme pain and it was hard to breath. They told me I had a lot of gas in my body from the surgery and I had to "wait it out." I continued to struggle to breath to the point where I stopped breathing and they had to call in a rapid response team to put me on oxygen and check what was wrong with me. I was terrified. No one was explaining anything. I was in so much pain, I could not breath and I had no idea what was going on. My mother walked in the room at that point and I honestly thought I might die. Finally, they gave me pain medication and were trying to help get the gas out of my body. The ER Dr that came to help explained that the gas had settled on my chest and that they needed to keep on top of me to make sure the gas got out. If it was not for him I do not know how the day would have proceeded. The nurses continued to make things difficult for my stay not providing pain medication. They would wait till the pain medication wore off then they would ask a Dr and then they would give it to me. During my 2 1/2 day stay in the hospital I always went an hour or two without pain medication. The nurses complained to me that they had too many patients and that the Drs did not respond fast enough. They also said it was the hospitals policy to wait till medication had worn off. I would highly recommend if you are having surgery to go to another hospital, or go to a different country because clearly this hospital is operating under policies that are ancient and not in the best interests of the patient.

DO NOT, I REAPEAT DO NOT GO HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. Please read below and help me spread the word so no one else has to go through what I have been going through: On December 23, 2014 I was training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (which is a contact sport) that evening. When I was leaving the gym once training was over, I felt a sharp pain in my right hip/lower abdominal area. The pain lasted for several hours and I couldnt sleep so I decided to go to the hospital to have this checked out to make sure it wasnt something serious. My experience at this hospital was the equivalent of a used car dealership. I had FOUR separate doctors convince me that my appendix need to be removed, and this is despite the fact that the Appendix appeared normal in the cat scan but my white blood cell count was high indicting that something was wrong. So after they told me that if the Appendix were to rupture I could be in the Hospital for a month. I reluctantly decided to go ahead with the procedure. (Who would want to risk being in the Hospital for a month?) About five days after the procedure, I still didnt feel right and felt something in that area still. So I decided to go to the Surgeon who performed the operations office to address my concern. Apparently he wasnt in the office but his assistant was able to reach him on the phone. I was absolutely appalled by his reaction to my concerns. He spoke as if I were some sort of druggie and was shocked that I still had pain and just completely disregarded me. I went to the 2 week follow-up and he asked how I was doing. Again, I told him that I still felt something in the same area and once again, he disregarded my concerns and said itll just go away. Six weeks after the procedure, I went back to train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and even during the warm ups I felt something in that area, but hey the Doctor said I shouldnt worry about it and itll go away on its own right?! Ive been trying to figure out for months whats wrong with me. My shoulder and neck muscles started to get tight, my leg limp got worse and worse. I thought the shoulder issue contributed to the leg so I was more focused on that. I saw several different doctors and my shoulder and neck were fine, so I was stumped. I just didnt feel right and I knew something was wrong. In a 10 month span I went from an Athletic, Energetic person to feeling like an 80 year old man. My leg has gotten so bad that I cant even walk without the use of a crutch. After pushing for it I finally got an MRI on my right hip area and it turns out that I have a high-grade, partial tear of the attachment where my quad muscle meets my hip. So for the past 10 months I have been walking around like this and now my entire body is destroyed. I went to Arlington hospital with a very common sports injury, and left with one less organ. The Surgeon that performed the operations name is Dr. Steve David.

Absolutely the worst hospital experience of my life and Ive had many! My health was in danger almost the entire time I was there. Let me make a list for you: #1. They didnt tell my husband I was in my room after surgery and he sat in the surgical waiting room* WITH A HOSPITAL PAGER* for an extra 3 hours after my surgery. He was worried to death about me and nobody knew where I was. DUH, YOU TOOK ME TO MY ROOM, MORONS!!! HOW DID I BECOME LOST???? #2. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO FEED YOUR PATIENTS. First they brought me foods on my first day after STOMACH surgery. I had to tell them NO NO and send them away. Then they brought me a tray of food the next day and I was allergic to every item on that tray. No one input my allergies into my chart. I had their ALLERGY wristband but no one put them on my chart. To make it even worse, they never replaced any food of those food items and they never brought me any food. I had to send my husband to the grocery store to get me something to eat. WHOEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING? Plus that made him paying extra for re-parking the car. #3. Probably the worst of the worst of my complaints: Three different doctors gave me 3 different sets of instructions on how to take my meds after surgery. One named Henna even wrote down that I was to take 3 pills a week for the next week" and IT WAS SUPPOSED TO SAY 1 PILL A WEEK FOR THE NEXT THREE WEEKS. OMG HOW DANGEROUS IS THAT???? Every medication on my list had different instructions from 3 different people. Isnt that dangerous to my health???? #4 Then, finally, one doctor said I could go home between 1:00 & 2:00 in the afternoon. He came back later and apologized and said I couldnt leave until 6:00p.m. OK, fine, but no one was there to release me so I had to wait until 7:30 to go home AND THEY HAD STILL NOT FED ME ANYTHING SINCE THE MINUTE I ARRIVED AT THIS NUTHOUSE. And the whole time they preach the importance of maintaining proper nutrition and hydration after this particular stomach surgery. HOW COULD I? YOU BROUGHT ME NO FOOD. Total incompetence and I do not recommend this hospital or its staff to anyone. I will say the nurses that were available and the nurses aids that were available were incredible. Especially Anna, but when you are understaffed and have so many other incompetent interns and staffers, your patients are in danger and in harms way. I will never go back to this hospital. Id prefer to live a lot longer and a whole lot healthier.
