Took 14 yr old dog in for anal gland expression. Assistant comes and gets him. A vet tech comes back with dog and report of what she got out. So, vet didnt see him? Nope just tech. I asked for vet to see him (isnt that why Im there?). "Sure", she says...I see Gibson who spends far more time shaming me for his teeth (again hes 14/15 yrs) and telling me his teeth should be pulled. I told her I am not happy about anesthesia at that age. She scoffs and rolls her eyes, saying..."thats not a risk." I stated that humans are required to have anesthesiologists during any surgery where the patient is under anesthesia and that vets do not hold the same level of expected safety. She made some comment to a vet tech, who smiled, but I didnt hear it. I told her that if she will write me a signed letter, guaranteeing that if my dog does not survive the surgery that she will pay 20k dollars, I will do it. She scoffed angrily and said, "Anesthesia surgery always has a risk". Wasnt that my point in the first place? Far too expensive, far too many vet assistants doing the vets job, and vet techs are NOT in anyway qualified in diagnosis and treatment of dogs. Avoid!

I have been going to Compassion for about 3 years now. 3 annual checkups, one visit for an infection, and numerous presrciption refills. I feel that Dr Gibson and all the Vet Techs and receptionists really do care. That goes a long way. I also feel the care that has been given to my dog is on par with any other vet I have been to in the NOVA area. I have had several animals over the years and been to Sterling Park Animal Hosp, Reston Animal Hosp. and Peidmont Pets Vet. Care (Warrenton). Compassion is as good if not better than those. Only CON I can think of is that the cost of Frontline is much higher than you can get it online. But, Im sure they dont do the same volume, therefore dont get the same cost.

The best way to sum up my experience at Compassion Animal Hospital is to say that I trust Dr. Gibson and her staff with the health of my pets. I have been going to her practice for approximately 9 years. They have ALWAYS been knowledgeable and compassionate in taking care of both my dogs and cats. They have been there for the happy times, (new puppy), and the terrible times, (the necessity to put our dogs to sleep), with a couple of emergencies in between. There are many vet practices closer to our home but we choose to go where we know our pets will get the BEST care.

Compassion has been my familys vet for as long as I can remember- I brought my puppy here for surgery because three vets we tried where I live dont know what kind of breed she is and make me nervous with how they interact with her. Dr. Gibson and the techs are very understanding, and I am confident they have the experience and skills far exceeding what my pup needs. :) Very happy to have such a good relationship with a quality vet!

We trust this vet with all of our pets (7 cats, 2 dogs, 2 rabbits). They are always pleasant and will find a way to fit you in for an appointment even when theyre busy. They are exceptional in emergencies and have saved a couple of our "kids" after traumatic events. Their location is convenient.

We absolutely love it here! We had the unfortunate experience of losing our dog, and the staff and doctors here were absolutely wonderful to us. When we were ready for a new puppy, we couldnt imagine taking him anywhere else! Fantastic vet!

Long wait in exam room for doc after long wait in waiting room for tech. Never had to wait nearly so long when I lived in a very densely populated area. Switched to a Warrenton vet and have never waited longer than 5 minutes TOTAL.

For nearly 20 years the staff at Compassion Animal Hospital and Dr Gibson have taken outstanding care of our dogs and at a reasonable cost. I would recommend Compassion Animal Hospital to anyone.
