Dineen Animal Hospital used to provide great service several years ago when my girlfriend and I took our dog, Oliver, there back in 2009. However, their staff is now absolutely atrocious, ignorant, and incompetent. We moved back to Wilmington in late 2011 and found a dog on the side of the road one day, so naturally, my girlfriend took him to Dineen the day after as he was terribly ill. One of the vet technicians essentially accused my girlfriend of stealing the dog. Mind you, this dog was covered in fleas, had intestinal parasites, and was nearly skin and bones. The audacity of this hideous, wannabe-punk rock chick, vet tech to put her disgusting accusations on the table before considering the well-being of the animal is unreal. It certainly speaks to you of the complete lack of integrity that is maintained within those walls. Additionally, when the dog was taken to the back room to get tested, he had an accident due to his parasitic infestation (and most likely from nervousness due to the evil energy that engulfed the place), and the other moronic vet technicians proceeded to make a big deal about how disgusting it was, raising their voice at the dog. Who works in a veterinarian hospital and makes animals feel like theyre being reprimanded because theyre sick? They evidently promote inhumane behavior at this vet and even the receptionists and veterinary doctors are boorish. Bottom line, Dineen Animal Hospital is an absolutely disgusting place and I could not insist more that you take your pets elsewhere if you truly care about them, because the parasites who work at that establishment certainly dont care one bit.

I dont care what any of these reviews say - Dr. Dineen is a saint! I rushed my extremely ill & listless bunny here one day right before closing time - I was not a current patient, and had no relationship with him, but I called ahead and they held the clinic open for me (not many vets will even see a rabbit). I was absolutely distraught, but I appreciated Dr. Dineen giving me the hard truth - my bunny was very ill, and was unlikely to make it. He gave me my options - put the bunny down, or face hundreds of dollars of vet bills for an animal that was very unlikely to pull through in the end. I was broke and in college, and I had an essential breakdown in his office. I knew I could not afford mounting vet bills, but wanted to save my pet. Dr. Dineen allowed me to sign over my baby to him so he could give him free care, and then would allow me to adopt him back for a fee that we would agree upon together should he pull through. He didnt make it, sadly, but even after three days of costly hospitalization, Dr. Dineen didnt ask me for a dime when my pet passed away. Most vets would have turned me away, but this vet has heart - he really loves animals and their owners. This is the best vet in Wilmington. Period.

When I moved to Wilmington in 2002, a friend recommended that my dogs go to Dineen Animal Hospital. Ive had dogs my entire life and theyve mostly been pugs and french bulldogs who have their share of health issues. Of all the vets Ive seen over the years, I can honestly say that Dr. Dineen and his staff have been the best and have far exceeded my expectations. During each visit, the entire staff happily greets me and my pets. When there has been a concern, Ive always been told to bring my pet in right away and never had to wait for an appointment. I would highly recommend Dineen Animal Hospital to anyone who wants the best care for their pet.

Disorganized, rude and condescending. There is a decided lack of basic care or compassion from any of the current staff. Had taken both pets there several years ago and had a good experience with the vet who treated them. However, I have witnessed a dramatic decrease in the level of service, from longer office waiting periods, to the high price of meds and overall decline in attitude from the desk staff. Not sure if the management has changed or if the staff is simply overworked and disgruntled. Either way, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

I have had a prairie dog for eight years. During that time I found that the staff had the expert knowledge to care for her. At the end of her lifespan, the vet and staff were sympathetic and did everything possible to make her passing as easy and painfree as possible for both of us. There are no words to express my gratitude to Dr. Stephen Anderson and his staff for going above and beyond to make "PD"s final days comfortable and to help me through such a difficult time. Sincerely, Rona Garm

I took my cat to Dineen for almost three years. I had a sickly cat and had no idea how to make him well. I spent a ton of money on a variety of foods and medicines, but my cat always got sick again. When I broke down in tears, waiting for the results of an unnecessary FLV test, the staff was very unsympathetic. I switched to The Sound Cat who gives me straight answers and permanent solutions. Beware of the Emergency Clinic as well - they also specialize in quick fixes.

We took our dog to Dineen for many years before he recently passed. They handled everything from minor care and check-ups to full surgery without issues. When our dog finally passed from old age, the staff at Dineen was a great help with the services needed after, and were caring and compassionate throughout. A good place to take your pets for anyone seeking a new veterinarian in the area.

Our 15 lab, Cherokee, was a patient of Dineen Animal Hospital his entire life. We could not have been more pleased with the caring and compassionate, knowledgeable staff. When our baby passed away, we received a handwritten note from Mrs. Dineen acknowledging our pain and expressing what a privilege it had been to provide his veterinary care throughout his lifetime.

I like Dr Jeff Dineen. Hell talk to you like youve know each other for ever. Hes thorough in his work, but my problem is with the tall woman at the front desk. Just like the rating I read above from someone else. Shes rude and talks down to you. Give me a break lady! Not happy find other work!

Couldnt be more satisfied with the staff. Competant and caring. Knowledgeable and proficient. Courteous and compassionate. Been going to this clinic since before they moved back to Wilmington. Over 4 animals cared for sequentially and a wide range of problems. Ohashi, Ph.D.
