Excellence. Artistry. Compassion. Dentistry the way it should be, and it is not an accident...it is Dentistry by Design. Dr. Akeel, his staff, and his office are all wonderful. After 3 disappointing dentists in 3 years in the Charlottesville area I came to Dentistry by Design by word of mouth (ha, ha), and it has far exceeded my expectations these past 4 years which has included routine cleanings, cavity fillings, and crown work. Dr Akeel has been a delight to work with because he truly is a craftsman - he stays current with the latest techniques and technology and he takes pride in his work. I trust his clinical expertise and always feel confident that he has my best outcome in mind (not my purse). Hes also personable and communicates well. His staff are friendly too yet unobtrusive. Ive worked with several hygienists over the years and theyve all been great. Cheryls been my go-to the past two years because of her demeanor and expertise. She is quick on sincere compliments and her years of experience are great when discussing various products to keep my mouth happy. The front desk has always been courteous and they have communicated clearly with me about appointments and billings, even with a minor insurance snafu that resulted in a refund --months after the fact. The office is aesthetically pleasing and comfortable, and the treatment areas are private. I highly recommend Dr. Akeel for all your dental needs.

My boy friend went to Dr. Akeel, his front office staff told him they called his insurance company to find out what was covered, and what he would be responsible for. (Because he told them he would not make his follow up appointments without knowing first what his cost would be). After the procedure was complete, he gets a bill, nothing was covered, they didnt call, if they had, they would have known his insurance only covered services for that procedure for patients under the age of 19. What does that tell me, they lied just to get his money, knowing that he would have to pay for the services after the fact. Dishonest, The reviews I have read about his billing practices are right on. I would not trust this dental practice at all.

Dr. Akeel and his team are thorough professional. Appointment wait hours are very minimum. Very clean office set up. As per my familys personal experience, he is not here to make money but to provide the genuine best quality possible dental service. He wont force you to come and have that wisdom teeth extracted which needs to actually be extracted. He lets his patients choose and make their own decision unless it is life threatening situation. Unlike most other dental facilities, he wont milk money out of you by calling every 3 months sighting periodontal problems. He is very honest and genuine at his profession. A gem of a dentist in todays business era. Lots of my friends trust Dr. Akeel and his service like we do.

Ive had a root canal, crowns, and general cleanings through Dr. Akeel over the years and all the trips have been great! I hear how painful root canals can be, but it was painless with Dr. Akeel. He numbed me up, was very delicate, and would check in on me to make sure I was doing alright. The staff is very friendly and the offices are clean and high-tech. My view of dental offices were drab, dim orange light and a lot of pain involved...NOT THE CASE HERE. Loads of natural light, knowledgable staff, and great treatment!

Dr. Akeel has always been the best dentist around. He is very gentle and always makes sure you are comfortable and okay during procedures. Dr. Akeel even won over my husband who would never go to the dentist. My husband received implants due to smoking and gum disease and Dr. Akeel cured his gum disease and he has a beautiful smile again. Thank you and your staff so much for your great services!! Please confirm with staff/doctor about the service which you requested. After 8 months I received bill with the service which I wasnt requested and Dr. serviced for that which I didnt know until I received my bill. When I called back saying this was totally unfair that I was accomplished by service which wasnt requested and its not my fault but still staff was saying you have to pay as you received the service.

Dr. Akeel is a very kind caring and very gentle dentist. His office technology is amazing and he is extremely smart and up to date on the latest in good practices. He is also very honest. His office staff are all very nice and thorough, They work hard to make sure appointment reminders are done and that billing and insurance work is done properly. He and his staff are awesome.

I ate breakfast on the morning of my appointment to try and drown out all the Butterflies, but when Dr. Akeel was finished I realized that the Butterflies were all in my head. It was a pain free experience, Dr. Akeel and his staff did a great job, and I had nothing to worry about at all.
