They call themselves Emergency (24 hour) Care Hospital in Fredericksburg.. Yeah right... I brought my dog in yesterday around 2:30pm due to blockage in throat as we thought.. We did pay $90 for him to been exam and did decline x-ray that was $210 but the doctor said he would do an x-ray within his own vision...with that said he came back and told me, my dog has bloat and that we only have two choices to pick from.... Surgery cost $3500 up-front or put to sleep. For one they did no blood work with exam that cost $90 and they didnt want to show me the x-rays (in fact, at the end of my visit the report was missing a few things). They told me to apply for care credit , I did and denied... We were there for four-five hours trying to decide what to do for my dog..It was painful and uncomfortable. The staff didnt really seem to care and nor did the doctor, they were trying to make us hurry to make a choice....I couldnt make a decision if my dog was showing me good signs and a happy face.. I then asked them if he would last till morning they said they didnt know.. I asked the "doctor" if I could take my dog home and he said its your choice. As soon as I loaded up my dog up,left & drove away, I get a call from Stafford County Animal Control, they said they were calling upon Care Hospital request, that I shouldnt have taken my dog home and that if he passes at home or comes back for surgery in the morning it would be consider animal cruelty. Of course I was more irritated that the fact these idiots have called me to tell me this type of information...Yet its my choice, Im the owner. These people dont care or have hearts, in the end they really wanted my dog asleep and I felt pressured, I then went back and told them okay lets put him to sleep, before starting the process my dog got up and was more alert, you could tell it was not time.... I declined, they were mad that I took my dog back. I took my dog back home watched him all night got him down to Helping Hands in Richmond and they were happy to help us. Within the last 48 hours my dog is still alive and had surgery in fact made it out alive! Thanks to Helping Hands, they did a great job. FYI considering what they tried to do to me is a form of harassment. This case will be pushed for more investigating. To anyone I would not recommended this place, they are greedy people, sneaky with white lie reports, misinformation to get you to pay more at the end of your visit & want your animal pretty much dead. P.S They did not at all want to work with me, They dont do payment options which is extremely DUMB and knowing I had spent my last $90 dollars on my dog to get taken care of, they declined me for care. If anyone is CRUEL its Central Animal Referral & Emergency Hospital. (Care Hospital) ---Daniel&Monica 11/28/2016

Our dog was brought in sunday night, from anal bleeding. we were told that it was bloody diarrhea and that he was okay to go home for the night as long he takes his antibiotics and we come back for blood work. the doctor specifically stated that our dog was fine to go home and that he would be okay. we had every intention of bringing him back for blood work. we did not have enough funds to get him the blood work so of course we had no choice but to take him home of course the doctor said it was okay. the next morning, he passed away. didnt even get a chance to take his meds. ive been calling back to back to speak to someone in billing about the bill for the visit. we had to literally give up all the money we had on hand to get him cremated the same day. it was literally costing us so much money just to get an autopsy to find out exactly why he passed. so instead we decided to let him rest peacefully. we are in the process of buying a house, which is why we are so low on funds. our dogs sudden death was very unexpected and we never thought we had to say goodbye. we felt that the doctor didnt have any interest in helping because of the fact that we didnt have enough money to get him the blood work that same day. we planned on coming back on that following friday to get the bloodwork, but of course our dog suddenly passed. ive tried several times to speak to someone in billing to help us get an extension or possibly waive the bill. i left message after message, and i just keep getting told that the person is not in. Ive left my cell and work number and still have not gotten a response from her. My boyfriend completely devastated. Hes had his dog since he was a puppy. He wouldve been 7 yrs old next month. We just dont understand how that sunday morning he was up and running , and playing around as usual, to now having to be cremated AFTER we were told that he was fine to go home. We had no choice but to go here, because there was no other place opened late. Yet, somehow, our dog is gone and not coming back. Rest In Peace Bo!!! :(

Took my elderly cat in for constipation symptoms (hes had such symptoms before and it turned out to be a more serious urinary tract issue, so I wanted to be on the safe side). Turned out it was just constipation and mild dehydration after all. This place is definitely expensive: consultation is $80, two x-rays were $190, and the enema was $75. All told the bill was over $400. Most expensive enema ever! BUT the point is that often one isnt sure if a condition can wait until normal vet hours the next day or not, and peace of mind, and a fur-childs comfort, is worth something. Overall the staff was great, and my conversation with the vet (my receipt says Dr. Crumpler) was great. I never felt like he or anyone else was pushing for extra tests, blood work etc. etc., which is a feeling Ive had from other vets in the past. So yes its expensive, but it is an after-hours/emergency clinic, and high prices come with the territory. If its a choice between that and no after-hours option at all, Im happy that a place like CARE is available. Edit: I have to comment on a couple of the negative reviews regarding prices: when you commit to own a pet, you also commit to the possibility of bad (medical) things happening. Such bad things are generally going to be expensive, whether you go to this hospital or any other. In this circumstance you have a choice of the expensive procedure, or putting your pet down. It isnt the fault of the veterinary hospital if neither of those alternatives is to your liking. Those are the choices to which you committed when you got a pet.

Worst vet office Ive ever been to. Brought my cat last Tuesday, who has an upper respiratory infection with a lot of congestion and bloody mucus. She received an antibiotic injection and a steroid injection was discussed. She has not improved so brought her back this morning. The doctor offered the steroid injection. So after waiting 2.5 hours (which is ok since it is walk-in appointments) she advised that they actually do not carry the steroid and to go to Banfield to get it from them, as if theyre a pharmacy. Banfield of course said they would have to see the cat first, but they are booked for the rest of the day. So second visit was a complete waste of time and money and poor kitty still isnt breathing well. Also, the exam room did not have sufficient space to put the animal carrier or for an actual exam. My cat was placed on a small counter next to a sink and a bunch of brochures. The vet tech fussed when she went to rub up against the brochures. Why have them there if thats the only space allotted for the actual exam? The scale she brought in the room barely fit on the counter. Very odd. Anyway, will not be going back there again.
