My review/story is pretty similar to The Heffels experience from a few months ago. I went in to have a mole removed but Quarles said it looked fine and that it didnt need to be removed. However, he said even though it looked fine, it also looked suspicious (confusing mixed messages) so he wanted me to come back to just take a piece off of it for a biopsy. I still dont understand how he convinced me it wouldnt be best to just take the whole thing off at once but hindsight is 20/20. So I had the procedure done on my second visit and then came back for a third visit to get the biopsy results - which came back fine so he said he wouldnt remove the mole. He told me, "theres no sense in removing it - youre just going to keep getting more moles as you get older." Six months later, I went in for a fourth time because he said I needed to have my moles checked out biannually. This time he told me that, "The previous biopsy results came back and the mole is suspicious. We need to take it off." He never explained why I was told it was fine at first but then told it was suspicious later, but regardless, we scheduled our fifth appointment to have it removed. He said that even though the biopsy confirmed it was suspicious, we still had to do yet another biopsy on the mole after removing the rest of it. I came back about a month later to get the second biopsy results and Quarles told me "The biopsy results came back negative. You need to stop having these benign moles sent out for testing like this or the insurance company is going to get on us about it." So somehow I was to blame for all this... After five visits and nearly $750 out of pocket, the mole still isnt gone and I feel like Quarles made an absolute fool out of me.

Its been about two years since Ive been in but I just received an email from them out of the blue and it jogged my memory of my bad experience. (Way to keep up with your patients, by the way. Two years, really?) Anyways, I Went in for a mole I needed biopsy on. I was recommended by another Dr. To have it removed after I gave birth due to the drugs they would have had to use not being safe for my unborn child. Well I went in, the tech or whomever she was, was nice enough I guess but when Dr. Quarles came in he had horrible bed side manor. Basically said I didnt need the mole removed, laughed as I expressed concern about the numbing drugs affecting my breast milk, said "Im not going to touch your breast milk", not my concern at all. Then he only removed PART of the mole! It was not a large mole, wouldnt have been difficult to remove the whole thing. So now I have specs of mole in that area rather than one whole mole or what I had hoped to be no mole at all. Then they call me to come back for results, which had me worried for the worst. I go back in just for them to say the biopsy came back benign. So basically they had me go all the way in with my newborn just to be able to charge it as a visit and make money off of something that could have very easily been relayed over the phone. That was the last time I will ever go to Quarles Dermatology. Unless you like a half ass job and being treated like dirt, I would not recommend them.

History of skin cancer in family-went here for overall skin exam-he stood in front of me and told me I was just fine (I was still dressed!). Didnt bother with an exam Or checking a questionable uneven spot on my leg that an intern thought needed biopsied. I got up and left, what a waste of time and money.

Not thorough. Been going for years and still confused about whats going on. Never seemed concerned. Went elsewhere and doctor took the time to explain what was wrong.
