PART 2 of 2 She also stated while I was @ PT, they would fit me for a knee brace that I should use when Im doing a lot of walking or stair climbing. She recommended R.I.C.E. therapy @ home until I heard back from their PT dept. on the approval/disapproval of PT from my Ins. Co. So - 2 weeks of not hearing back from their office, I called to follow up. After holding on the phone for 11 ½ minutes, I finally spoke to Karen @ the front desk. She accessed my file & said there was no referral order for PT, only a ‘recommendation’, nor was there an order for a knee brace. Sorry, but the last time I checked, isn’t a doctor’s recommendation the same thing as a referral?!?! Karen then tried to patch me through to their PT office to have them contact my insurance office to get an authorization for scheduling, however; at 3pm in the afternoon-they had left for the day. She said she would send a message to them to call me 1st thing the next day. After all I’ve been through with my knee over the past two weeks, it’s like my doctor’s visit never even happened; except, of course, for the $30 copay that I am out. The following day, I received a call from Angel at PWFM’s PT Department. She informed me that they don’t do braces at their office & that I would need to call my insurance co. to ensure they authorize the PT without a referral. This is where the steam began to depressurize through my ears! I tried to explain to Angel what Ms. Crawford said during my office visit but it was like my words fell on deaf ears. She said she would have Ms. Crawford call me when she gets in @ 9:45am - but speaking w/Ms. Crawford only dismally intensified the level of frustration that I was feeling about this whole matter & their office. Ms. Crawford said she didn’t recall discussing w/me the need for a knee brace, but she did recall her recommendation for PT. She said that she would again send the order over to their PT office but that I would have to call my ins. co. to see if they would approve it. During this call, Ms. Crawford was quite condescending, rude & down-right unprofessional! Belittling the patient does nothing to help any situation but apparently, Ms. Crawford thought it was appropriate behavior & becoming of a NP such as herself. She finally suggested I seek out a second opinion, since I was dissatisfied with the care she was trying to provide. What care?? 1st you type my symptoms into a computer & wait for it to tell you what is wrong, only to recommend a brace & some PT that you fail to input the order for & then expect me to do your administrative staff’s job? You have truly lost your mind & forgone that Hippocratic Oath that you took during your licensing procedure! I could go on & on about this office & their down-right atrocious practices & the numerous misfortunes I’ve experienced over the years. For example - They ‘say’ they’re going to call in 3 prescriptions for you. You drive to & wait @ your local pharmacy for the filling of said prescriptions. Your name is called & you go to the counter to pay for your 3 prescriptions, only to find that whomever it was from the dr’s office that called in your prescriptions, only called in 2 of the 3 prescribed by the dr. Then theres the whole call-you-in-every-3-months for inhaler refills & they don’t even give you a breathing test – they just chat with you, write the refill, and require you to do the same thing in another 3 months. BOOM - Copay acquired – and more money for them! Here’s a clue… I’ve had asthma my whole life! It’s not going anywhere… but I AM! I will never set foot through those doors ever again and I suggest you save yourself the hassle, time, money and mental sanity by following suit.

I concur with the reviews about the rude, inattentive and untrained front staff, and with the reviews of being treated as a nonperson, and their trying to blame the patient for the problem! I called ahead to see if I could get in to be seen quickly for an allergic reaction, clearly stating that the the problem was an allergic reaction, Id seen this before, and that I needed to be seen quickly to avoid a trip to the ER, which could result if not treated promptly. I was also clear that if they could not see me, *just let me know that, and I could go elsewhere *. I also called again, when my arrival was delayed (by the need ice down the swelling to be able to safely drive), to reiterate the situation, the need to be seen quickly, and the request to let me know if they could not still fit me in because I could go elsewhere- again to avoid a trip to the ER. I was able to drive myself to PWFM (past the ER, and past and two other clinics that would have treated me with an $85 office visit and the cost of the shot). Upon arrival, I reiterated all of the above, but because PWFM staff ignored everything I told them and left me untreated, all the while saying "itll just be a few minutes" and then even leaving me unattended in a back room for yet more delays, by the time the doctor got tome, my condition had deteriorated so badly that I ended up being transported * by ambulance* to the ER- to the same ER I drove past to get PWFM. I then had the ER AND physician bill AND the ambulance transport- bills of over $2000, all out of my own pocket, for a simple allergic reaction that could have been treated for about $200. When approached with this after the fact, PWFM said "Our policy is to transport all allergic reactions by ambulance to the ER". And the reason they didnt tell me that when I called , twice, specifically saying a trip to the ER was what I was trying to avoid, would be .... what????? If they had been forthright with me, I could have driven MYSELF to the ER if need be, and saved the the ambulance charges.Or just picked a walk-in clinic off Google. The parent company, Fairfax Family Practice Centers PC, presented with all of this also said, in effect "too bad, were not taking responsibility for what happened". No complaint with the doctor, though by the time he finally saw me, it was just to call the ambulance, because the damage had already been done by the front staff. CONSUMER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT EXPECT TO BE HEARD BY THESE PEOPLE!

Let me start off by saying I had no issues, ever, with Molly White, Maureen (front desk), or the nurses. I work with special needs children that are very susceptible to colds or illnesses. I had a cough over the weekend and wanted to know if it was contagious so I knew if I needed to call off work or not. At 8:09 am I made a call to the Manassas location. I talked to a guy on the phone (should have gotten his name) and he told me they didnt have any openings until 3 pm. I told him I needed something sooner, so he looked at the Gainesville availability, and told me I had a 10:45 am appointment with a doctor over there. I even repeated the information to him to ensure I had the right name and time. I drove to Gainesville, and the front staff checking me in unfortunately informed me that I had never been scheduled for an appointment. I had to drive all the way back to Manassas and I was able to get an appointment in at 11:30 (thought they didnt have any until 3 pm?). When I got there, the lady at the front desk, Maureen, was very nice and helpful. There was another lady, who I was later informed was the Clinical Supervisor, who was very rude to me. When I kept getting pushed around, I called my dad to have him talk to them, and when I went into the office, the other lady (Clinical Supervisor?) told me that I cant have my dad calling for me, and that I am an adult, and need to be responsible for doing things on my own. I felt that she was very rude to me. I do agree that I need to do things on my own, however when I tried to do that, they messed up. I explained to her that I called in, and was scheduled for Gainesville, only to be told I never had an appointment, and she said that GAINESVILLE should have made time for me, never once admitting that her office staff had made a mistake. Finally, I was able to get into a room, where I had an upper respiratory infection, which I was told is infectious, meaning I could have given it to the children that I work with. By the time I left the office, I had missed 6 hours of work. Needless to say, I will be switching offices. The only reason I gave this office 2 stars was because of my doctor, Molly White, the nurses, and the very nice front staff lady, Maureen.
