I hare this place. First, the good: Dr Egashira and Dr Steele are wonderful people to work with. The bad: The front staff and optician staff are awful. There is one older optician lady with dark hair who was excellent, but she seems to have moved on. I used to get my glasses from Dr Egashira in the 90s as a teenager so I came here first when I moved back to Bainbridge. She wasnt available so Dr Steele checked my eyes and gave me a new prescription (even though I didnt feel like I needed one, she said it was required). I paid $450 or so for some new glasses, and waited a week or two while the glasses were prepared. When they arrived, one of the lenses was clearly wrong: it was fully blurry. The other lens seemed correct. I took them in and was told by the younger optician lady that my eyes just needed to adjust to the new lenses, which is insane considering I had one one lens giving me problems and the other was perfectly fine (my prescription hadnt really changed over time). She wouldnt talk to me further until two more days had passed. After two days, she still didnt believe me, but took the glasses back. She tested them and assured me that they were perfectly to spec (pun intended) for my prescription. She ended up ordering replacements, which were also bad. Finally, Dr Steele did another eye exam (thankfully this one was free because I dont have vision insurance and this was getting very expensive), and discovered that - whoops! - someone in the office had mistakenly written down my prescription for that eye as +3.25 for astigmatism, instead of +2.25. There is the problem! She apologized and ordered new lenses. Another 10-12 days passed by bringing this event to a duration of a few months (meanwhile Im using junk glasses from 10+ years ago because my more recent ones had broken, thus the trip to the eye doctor). The new ones came and were correct! yay! Mind you: my prescription hadnt actually changed and this process should have taken 2-3 days to just order new ones based on the existing prescription, but no - they have to milk us for all we are worth and accidentally created some significant complications. The new glasses had a strong orange color cast to them. I am a photographer and work closely with color values and this was a problem, because it shifted all color in a very noticeable way. I asked why they were orange. I was told that it was because of a coating that minimizes blue light from computer screens (makes sense to throw some orange on there to block the blue), but that it is invisible so I was making it up. I insisted that the orange was highly visible and I wouldnt just make this kind of thing up, but they turned me away and treated me like a troll. Then the crappy glasses frames ($450 shouldnt be crappy) began to lose screws. They would loosen up after a few weeks and Id have to tighten them up. But one day I got to a screw too late and it fell out. I couldnt find it anywhere so I called and asked what kind of screw to replace it with. "Just come in and well help you out!" she said. Well, that works for one occasion, but I want to use these frames for many years and I would like to be able to do my own repairs if Im out of the country or something. She couldnt tell me anything about the screws, she said. So I went in and she put a screw in. Yay! This new screw is way too long and sticks through the far side and juts out so it catches on things occasionally. Annoying, but fine. But wait, theres more! This screw works itself loose every week or so, so I am tightening it down way more frequently than the others on the frame. Yesterday I scratched my lens while out of state. I called and asked how much replacement lenses would cost. They told me that my prescription had expired and they cant give me new lenses unless I get another eye exam. I am furious. Dont go here. Just dont. Dr Egashira is brilliant and kind, Dr Steele is awesome and seems great, but this staff and these office policies are just a nightmare. There are too many good places to go; stay away.

Bainbridge Vision Source has very knowledgeable staff and doctors who utilize current technology and methods. They take time to discuss eye health and vision with patients. I always feel very well treated and leave with knowledge after each visit. Ive maintained my eye care at Vision Source for several years and highly recommend them for eye care.

I had a very thorough eye exam yesterday with Dr. Egashira (my third time over as many years). She was extremely competent, professional and knowlegeable and she explained everything in laypersons terms and answered questions satisfactorily. She is also delightful and very friendly and exudes positive energy!

First eye exam in my adult life and it was great. Dr. Steele took all the time needed to thoroughly educate me and evaluate my eyesight needs. She set me up with mono vision contacts and I am thrilled to be able to leave the reading glasses behind! Great experience, great practice.
