Wish you could do half stars. Real rating: 4.5 And guess what, past reviewers, you probably actually have gingivitis! Okay so this is long but a thorough. I needed a cleaning/check-up. Aspen has a free new patient exam. Office was clean, modern, painted nice. Waiting room has a TV, magazines, open feel. Waited about 20 minutes (pretty normal) and got in for xrays. X-ray tech explained it well and helped me. Machinery was pretty cool. They did a pan (nice skull view) and roots for all my teeth. Digital. If you want thorough, Aspen is the place. Teeth, roots, and jaw. I have TMJ, so I notice if a dental office is a bit lazy and does not look at jaw structure and roots. Lazy offices often don t look and that bugs me. Takes more time but I know they can see my worn disks on my jaw. Any other office just takes the one set and I know from past experience I won t get as good care as an office that is thorough. They took 18. Waited in operatory area but its not a room. Feels private, has cupboards to divide it but its not your own room. Had Hygenist look at areas and check pockets depths. If your old dentist didn t do this, shame on him! I still had a few deep ones but they are getting better. Again, staff was nice. Place was clean, had hooks to hang purses, and when I complained of being cold they gave me a lab coat to cover up with. Had TV to watch. Was offered sunglasses. Told I wouldn t get a cleaning that day but I knew that already. Kinda a bummer but Hygenist explained that they do this so they can see if I need the deep cleaning (scaling) or not. Met Doctor. He seemed nice and pretty easy-going. He explained I had some deep pockets (I did already knew that from previous dentist) and that I would need some cleaning. Talked about how I had a cavity - dang! and what type of filling I could have. I asked about my old fillings, he did not upsell me or try to convince me to replace my silver fillings with white. No decay underneath so they are fine. Some dentists are against silver-fillings or ask to replace old ones as a preventative thing. But I m cheap so I don t want to do that till there is real reason. Asked if I had any pain or sensitivity. Looked at my xrays on a big screen. I love that skull pic one. Looked at my gums, discussed that I was brushing wrong. I am doing better on back teeth being clean but being too rough. Checked bone loss, (no one did that before - so that s new) I guess bone loss means loose teeth and possible problems in future. Had cancelation so got my teeth cleaned anyway. With hygenist. She was pretty gentle. Super nice, dug some gunk out of my few back pockets. Did not need scaling this time and talked to me about flossing and using an electric toothbrush. I use sonicare and she wasn t too pushy at all. Aspen sells their own ones and I have heard they can be pushy. She wasn t. Liked that she wiped her tools on a cloth out of my line of site. I know I bleed but I don t like to see it. Felt comfortable. Non-room thing was a bit odd but still felt private. Kinda odd not to have dentist clean my teeth. This was a change for me but not in a bad way - just different. Next to go back for filling. Patient bathroom - nothing special but clean and fully stocked. No broken fixtures or missing paper towels. Could use some color. Pros: - very thorough, you will know exactly how your roots are doing and learn new words like pockets and root planing - Office is clean, staff is nice - TVs in chairs are cool and I like that I got to see my x-rays - prices seem comparable - free new patient exam Cons: - not a fan of the room set up - did not like that I would not get teeth cleaned that day when I scheduled appointment (that is an Aspen policy I would suggest changing, I got lucky that she had a cancelation right when I walked in) - Dentist visit was shorter than expected. It does fill odd to spend most of your time with hygenist. My last dentist did cleanings. So this was a change for me. But not enough to make me not go back.

Well, I had terrible tooth pain of an unknown origin, and my dentist was out of town. I had expensive tickets to a music festival, so needed to be seen and fixed fast. I called the 800 number early in the morning, and was able to be seen at 7:00 a.m. Everyone who helped was very nice and cheery, though it was odd that the receptionist came in late to work and everyone seemed like it was normal. They took (what I think) was an unnecessary amount of x-rays. I was shuttled to a room, where the dentist spent a total of 3-4 minutes with me, explained I needed a root canal, and that he could not help me. I was in TEARS, confused and upset. He handed me a slip of paper for a referral at an office in Appleton, asked if I needed a prescription (for WHAT- he explained nothing. Did I need a prescription?). He then left the room, said good luck, and I was left on my own to find my way out (still in tears) and literally in shock and my mouth hanging open at how coldly I was treated. In the end, I did have a root canal done that day at the office he referred me to, where I was treated with kindness and compassion. They made room for me in their booked schedule, and were sympathetic and helpful. I walked out pain free and enjoyed my holiday weekend. They also said they would get my X-Rays up to the other office ASAP via e-mail, and never did. When they were called again at 12:00 to ask for them again, they were told it could take 24 hours. Bottom line, they are NOT EQUIPPED TO ASSIST OR HANDLE EMERGENCY DENTAL ISSUES. They can diagnose you and send you on your way, and that is about it. So, one stars for the very nice hygienist/assistant that took my X-Rays, and another for the television that kept me company while I waited in the chair for the dentist. Thats a nice touch.

My son who is 18 scheduled a cleaning appt. He took off of work so he could make this appt. For a cleaning before he went to college. I had called the previous dentist to have them send over his previous ex rays and dental records, when my son arrived with all of his paperwork previously filled out which he printed offline , they proceeded to tell him that they did not have his ex rays so instead of calling the previous dentist they took a new set of ex rays which of course insurance will not cover, when they were done doing that they then told him that they do not have time to clean his teeth and he will have to reschedule. Really. ... the purpose of the cleaning was to have it done before he went to college now he has to come back at the end of September to have a cleaning which should have been done when he was there. Aspen Dental if you are giving the option to clients to schedule online then you very well should have an hour set aside for a cleaning. What should be done on your site is to honestly let people know that you have no intention on performing the cleaning on the initial visit but it is just another money making scheme to have the client come back again to once again get paid by the client and or insurance company for another office visit. Not ethical Aspen.
