They took total advantage of me without having insurance and spent three days there, it has been over a month without many answers to tests, and the few we did get results on they left me via VOICEMAIL! Never again! I will walk down three doors to St. Peters! They also changed their mind on diagnoses about three times during the three days! And come to find out the first thing they ruled out ended up being one of the first answers, which they now changed again! They never return my messages, and it took me three days to get in for an MRI which I was promised twice every day that it would happen, so after finally getting in and finishing it before the end of the business day, I waited three hours before they informed me that NO ONE WAS THERE TO READ IT! So I stayed another night (without insurance) to wait to hear about the MRI! I will hire an attorney before I give that horrible unprofessional hospital a penny!

The nurses and doctors in the intensive care unit are emotionless robots. While my family and I were grieving, they gave us no privacy or respect. The nurses were sitting around laughing and talking loudly about nothing pertaining to work while we had to all stand without chairs and see the last living moments of our relative with the loud mouthed staff behind us. Instead of sitting around doing nothing they should offer chairs to family members. The nurses were stuck up and rude and did not give us time to be with our relative they just wanted to get in the room and unhook all machines ASAP to basically "get it over with fast". They want to throw you out immediately because to them health care is a business. You are better off at a different hospital because compassion and respect are important especially in an intensive care unit. The doctors were were rude, pushy, and pessimistic.

Had a daughter admitted into the PICU, and the only advice Id give to any other parent is that you dont leave your childs side, and know that only you have an unbiased love for your child. We experienced stress, undue burdens, and attempted unnecessary procedures. Not all the staff was as bad as the first Nurse we had that never gave my daughter a call button and had my wife sleeping in our van in the parking garage. The surgeon went far and above her duties to get my wife out of the parking garage the morning of surgery. The level of communication with us was Non existent even after meeting with the nurse managers and Multiple Drs. They simply did not know how to involve us in the care she was receiving there, and Had I not stayed awake and by her side especially in the PIUC I have no doubt that shed still be there.

Bedside manors of nurses are terrible, they have no compassion for patients. The hospital is very dirty and just seems unsanitary. The ER is the worst ever. Whatever happened to communicating to waiting patients. Staff could do a better job of communicating when the wait is going to be over 4 hours. It is ok to maybe suggest another hospital for patients to go to. I came with my daughter who has had all her children there, but only because she was high risk. We waited 4 hours and there were people there for 4 hours prior.??? something is wrong with that. Maybe the triage nurses need to be educated more on what is priority. And taught that it is ok to have compassion for people. Somehow that seems to be on the bottom of their list. AMC you need to practice compassion skills, and communication.

If I could give the poor excuse of a medical facility a negative five star, I would. We were told to bring our child to AMC by the nurse line as her condition was dire and while there we waited until close to seven hours to see a neurologist - albeit a resident, who dismissed everything we said. Upon shift change, I had the pleasure of watching a nurse face timing her daughter and a second nurse swearing like a sailor. A great childrens hospital that is for sure! Our child then was transferred to a regular bed and based on prior notes another resident made the decision that the condition was caused by behavior and sent her home. The neurologist on call also dismissed everything my wife said. If AMC is my life line - thanks but no thanks, send me to a real hospital.

The entire staff made what could have been an experience from hell more manageable, both the medical team (nurses, doctors) and non-medical (social workers, security, dining). Forever grateful for treatment we received. The ER physician diagnosed my brother with a rare virus and brain infection (prevalence of 1 in 2 million) only within an hour after my brother was admitted! Started him treatment immediately. We stayed at the ICU for 10 nights, and the staff was so professional and compassionate. The Choices cafe has a diverse, generous, and fairly priced selection. The Chapel on the 1 level is accommodating to peoples of different faiths and is open all the time. Hilton Inn convenient for emergency situations and people without a car coming from out of town.

I have a granddaughter that has global development disabilities. She required a pediatric neurologist along with a geneticist. I cannot say enough good about both physicians. Dr. Pugh is friendly, professional, a listener and most of all an excellent doctor, very knowledgeable. I never felt rushed. He is genuine and is a blessing to the department. Thank you so much Dr. Pugh for everything you have done for us. Dr. Adams was also a great listener and helped us in our time of need. We had visited another hospital in Syracuse however once at Albany Medical the choice was clear who was best. I give both departments 5 stars. We never waited more than 15 minutes and all staff has always been extremely helpful.

The ER in this place is HORRIBLE ; Miserable, loud, crowded. Half the people are there for mild self-treatable injuries or in general bullshitting; probably looking to score some drugs. I wouldnt recommend coming to this ER if you have or think you have a life threatening emergency. We ended up leaving after 2 hrs of waiting because of the noise. Went to St Peters and within 5 hours of treatment and no success my gf was admitted to the ICU. BUT I will say that the treatment in the neurology ICU is great! The nurses are very nice and helpful and do everything in their power to make sure yoi are comfortable.

While some of the staff are amazing....some of them lack basic decency. If youre in need of emergency medical help do not go here. My mother was brought in by ambulance and left in a room to decline for over 6 hours. Her "nurse" barely checked on her. It took me raising my voice at another nurse for movement to happen. By this time my mother was in far worse shape than we knew. The er never gave definitive answers. We never knew what was going on until she was admitted to icu. If you or someone you love need emergency help, avoid this er like the plague.

Not sure if it was a fluke, but TEN hours spent in the ER as of this post; no sign of when this atrocity will end. Nothing compared to the poor woman next to us who has waited 13 hours!! Dozens of overflow patients lined up in the halls, leaving us to see and hear things we should NEVER see or hear. Central station seemed more like a social gathering for nurses; conversations about hairdos, jewelry, colleague drama, and food. Four doctors asked the same questions, obviously not conferring with one another. Poor bedside manner. Never again!
