My father was here a few months ago from a stroke. The only decent thing here was the therapy. The lady who came to the hospital and promoted this place to my father is not to be trusted. Her name is Jackie. She was extremely pushy at the hospital and we eventually chose morningside because of lack of other options. She lied about free taxi service to the rehab center, which was a major inconvenience because of the busy lives of my family members. Day to day life for my father was terrible. First, we were shown this room my father was going to stay in by hisself. Then, my father got changed to a bigger room, but still by himself. We never complained because all we and he wanted was to be by himself because my family and I visited him every single day after school and on the weekends, so we needed him to be by hisself. One day, we randomly find out that my father got placed in a room with this random person, which wasnt even run by him or my family. The floors smelled of strong pee and the nurses would just be gossiping in groups and talking rudely to the patients. When I visited, I always made sure to engage in nice conversation with the people they had lined up in the halls because the nurses just ignored them all day. On the days we couldnt visit, they were horrible. They would FORCE my father to stay in the recreational room and not let him go be in his room unless one of us came to the facility. My sister and I had school until 2:20 and my mother works until 5, so one of us would always have to rush to Morningside to take my father to his room. On days that we couldnt visit at all, we would call and call for them to move him and they wouldnt so hed sit there in the recreation room frustrated. When we experienced this problem, Jackie was nowhere to be found. She ignored all phone calls, messages, and voicemails. Another issue was dinner. If we werent there to pick up dinner for him, my father would have to wait until everyone in the recreation room ate to receive his dinner which is pretty messed up. There was a very kind Puerto Rican lady with blonde hair who advocated for my father to get his food on time but there was only so much she could do when we werent there. When we finally got fed up with the service there, my mom wanted to start discharging him to bring him home because he wasnt making much progress in therapy and the situation was increasingly difficult at Mornignside, the lady told her that my parents dont decide when my dad leave, they do. In all of this, the pushy hospital promoter wasnt of any help, even though she gave my mom her information and said she can always contact her. I dont recommend this place to anyone.

The most incompetent staff ever. If you care for your loved one, and wish for adequate healthcare - I suggest you look at another facility. They leave their residents in the hallways unattended for long periods of time. The call bells are constantly wrapped around the bed so that the resident doesnt use it (therefore the resident must rely on a staff member to do their "not so frequent rounds"). They will say ANY and EVERYTHING to make any incident the fault of the patient or natural causes so that they are not held responsible (with over 18 suits, I see why). Many of the patients are displeased with the quality of care but can not voice their opinion because it falls on deaf ears. I am utterly disgusted with myself for even allowing my loved one to stay here. I am working closely with my team of representatives to remove my loved one from this facility. Rule of thumb: IF ANYONE EVER SAYS THEY WILL FOLLOW UP WITH YOU, PLEASE TAKE IT WITH A GRAIN OF SALT. .. THE WORLD WILL SPIN 10 TIMES before you are followed up with... IF THEY HAPPEN TO REACH OUT TO YOU IN LESS THAN 10 orbits .... THEY WILL MOST LIKELY TRY TO BELITTLE YOUR SITUATION, NEVER ADMIT THEIR WRONG DOING, and WILL REFER YOU TO SOMEONE ELSE IN DEPARTMENT XYZ, WHO DOESNT EVEN DEAL WITH WHAT YOU NEED. Nonetheless, this facility needs to be investigated immediately, because there are many inhumane practices going on inside of 1000 Pelham Parkway S.

This place should be shut down. I service the patients here through an outside vendor. The supervising staff in either facilities are very rude, and have nasty attitudes. They are difficult to work with, very impatient & unfriendly without reason or provocation. You can be as nice & friendly as you wanna be & rest assured it will be met with complete sarcasm & attitude. They dont communicate amongst faculty or other agencies they work with & on the occasions where they do, they are outright mean & abrupt when they speak. Then they have Aides working in the Assisted Living building passing themselves off as actual nurses which causes unnecessary confusion & is a disservice to the patients. And when they are confronted they become hostile allowing their egos to dictate their behavior. The patients are treated poorly, neglected, spoken down to & ignored by nursing staff who lack any type of empathy or concern for them. This is not a place I would send my worst enemy to live out their last hour. Someone who also posted wrote "GHETTO" which is an accurate description of the people that work there. And this has nothing to do with race cause the white people that work there are just as nasty. I WONDER IF THEY EVEN READ THESE REVIEWS... Apparently not!

Morningside Nursing Home is a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE place I had no choice but to put one star if it were up to me I would definitely put a thumbs down instead .... the staff have attitudes and do not provide good care to their patients/ residents. Weve made a complaint several times and got an unprofessional response from the head of nursing. I was a CNA myself and never treated my patients the way the staff at Morningside Nursing Home does.... They speak to the residents in a way where they just tear the residents dignity apart to the point where they become depressed and scared, they also leave their residents sitting in their urine and feces for too long and yell at the residents and say" I have other people to take care of". This is not what nursing is about, during nursing school, nurses are taught not to mistreat residents or patients and are told they will get their nursing license taken. A nursing job is for people with compassion, and love to help with great communication skills also is a good listener. I am going to take this matter to the next level in hopes of pushing for my family member to getting the proper care thats needed in hopefully another facility that provides quality care, respect and a positive atmosphere.

Do NOT leave your loved ones here! I made the mistake of sending my father here for insurance reasons and time problems. It is clean but the nurses are so over worked they literally only have time to run up and down and give medicine there is no time for any other patient care. My fther almost went into acoma due to there lack of attention. Another night my fathers blood pressure was so low he had to call 911 himself from his cell phone bc the nurse was to busy for him. He was admitted to the hospital and saved his own life. When I complained the administrators had nothing to say.
