I would rate this hospital a 10+, on a scale of 1 thru 5. I was taken to the emergency room on Sunday June 10, 2017, for severe right side hip pain. I currently have no medical or pharmacy insurance. That made absolutely no difference to the staff. After taking my vital signs I was seen the DR doctor, within the hour, I was told that I would need to have x-rays of my right hip and the lower portion of my back. ( After being brought back to the room & I want to emphasize I mean an actual room, not an area with other patients just separated by a drawn curtain) The nurse came in to let me know that they were going to send me for a CAT scan, and she would be right back to draw blood. Within 10 minutes she was back and I explained I was what they call a hard stick. Either my veins collapse while in the process or they arent able to get a vein at all) she got the vein on the first time she attempted to draw blood & it didnt collapse at all. After having the CAT scan she came back to tell me that she was admitting me. Within 2 hours I was brought to the 2nd floor. The room was extremely clean, and it didnt have the smell of a hospital or heavy pine, or other cleaning solutions. All my blood work and other test results came back negative. Now I was going to have an MRI done of the same area. When all the test results were complete I was given pain meds and whatever other meds I needed. The following day I went for the MRI, and that same evening I was seen by the PA of the orthopaedic dept. The test showed that I have a chip in the right hip area, but it didnt look that it was a fresh injury. He then proceeded to give me a shot of steroids in the same area. The end result is that I was admitted for 4 days in which time, I had asked why it was taking so long. After being in the hospital for what seemed like an eternity. I was given a week supply of all the meds I needed, except the controlled substance. The Dr and nurses in the ER were extremely knowledgeable. The entire staff on the 2nd floor north were extremely knowledgeable and informed. I have been in and out of so many hospitals over the past several years and words cannot express how I feel about the entire staff of Huntington Hospital. I would recommend this hospital for anything at all that you might need. Like I said before the staff and the service are extremely off the charts. Please take this advice seriously. Whenever I get my medical insurance reinstated I plan to see if their is a clinic associated with this hospital.

If you value your health, wellbeing and sanity go anyplace but here. The ER is a disaster. You will be put on a gurney and lie there IN THE HALLWAY, in full view of everybody else in that hell-hall. Your private medical details are now dicussed openly in front of strangers. Meanwhile you are lying there with people caughing and hacking, and sneezing who knows what kind of germs around you. Adequate sanitation is not upheld, gurneys and equipment not properly sanitized, so you are literally lying in a bed full of infectious pathogens. The staff have zero hustle, zero proactivity, zero sense of urgency. The Barney Fife "security guards" will menace and harass you if you so much as scream in pain. And god help you if you have PTSD, and suffer a panic attack, the "doctors" will not help you. The "doctors" would rather watch you suffer than give you pain medication. I had to beg for an Advil to try to ease your pain. A simple over the counter Advil. They screwed up my ct scan by NOT giving the IV contrast solution therefore they found nothing wrong. I was promised a copy of the CT report with my discharge papers, they broke thier promise. I am notifying my insurance company and Medicare they are to deny any claim from Huntington Hospital. I hope they sue me for it. When I testify under oath as to the non-quality care I recieved there, it will become a permanent record of thier complete disregard for patient care. My name is Stuart L Brenner. I will not hide my identity while accusing this "Emergency" room for abusing me.

Horrible, no one knows how to treat my problem, i am in extreme pain from bacterial infection and are not willing to help. Because i am in such a large amount of pain the nurses and Drs will ignore me for hours upon hours because as i was told by one nurse emily "maybe we would help you if you wete a little nicer", I was put in a room with no heat, even though i was shivering all day. They gave me one thinly warn out blanket. I had to put on my street clothes to get warm. Not once did they bother to check on me. This hospital is full of Drs and nurses that seem very elitest. They are the only one that understand how YOUR body works. They do not consider anything you might tell them. The only reason i came here was because i was deathly ill. Or i would have gone else where. I have been to hospitals in Puerto Rico, where you have to bring your own pillow, blanket , toiletries, and it compares to this crap hole. If you want to live go to another, people come here to die if they want to or not. Use caution!!

My mom had a stroke Dec. 1 and we took her to the HH ER immediately. The ER staff was wonderful and very empathetic. They monitored Mom and kept us informed about what was happening. Mom was admitted and in the Neuro-ICU and stayed until Dec. 9. The nursing staff was beyond fabulous-besides their professional duties they were extremely caring and sensitive to my moms needs. I hope I never need their services again but I am happy that such a good team is available in my neighborhood. An earlier trip in mid-November to the ER for an unrelated problem Mom had was also a positive experience. In spite of how busy the ER was, she was seen and treated in a timely fashion. The patient advocate was also great-she made sure we were comfortable and being cared for. She even got me a cup of coffee! While its important that the patient has an advocate-a family member or good friend-I saw that when I was not there, that moms care was very good.

The poor rating has nothing to do with hospital care; it has to do with billing and the staff in the billing department. I have been receiving bills for claimed services (already collected from medicare for the most part) that took place in July of 2016. I have written letters, I have called and most recently when calling, been hung up on! The person on the other end wanted my account number and when I gave her what is on the bill and, it did not start with a "1", SHE HUNG UP ON ME! The bill is for $65 but, even if it were for $0.65, I would not pay it. No one seems to care about verifying records and validating it is my bill. My next call will be to Medicare for paying out on a fraudulent claim.
