I remember when the Kingston Hospital was a decent hospital. Now, since the Health Alliance has taken over, the quality of the care that you receive there is horrendous. I worked for a local group home where the majority of the residents were elderly, so needless to say I was there quite a bit due to various reasons. Ive noticed HIPA violations (where I told random staff to close administration pages on monitors in our ER room), horrible staff members where other nurses would defend them and their horrible attitudes by saying they "had a bad day", loose and used needles with blood from the previous tenant in an ER rooms left behind, the list goes on and on. Also, the lack of communication (which sits with both parties) between primary doctors and the hospital. I cant remember the amount of times where I would have to go with a family member to the ER, to only be treated poorly and the staff is trying to administer medications that were discontinued months prior by the primary, all without communicating with their doctors. To speak for myself, if Im ever hurt to the point where I need an ambulance ride to a hospital, Id rather my life lie on the line due to a longer ride to a further hospital than to EVER be seen or taken care of at the Broadway campus in Kingston. Health Alliance, youve ruined this hospital.

Brought my 9-year-old daughter there this summer for what turned out to be a migraine. I will credit their staff for being compassionate and patient with her, and for not talking down to me. So my poor review is not in any way directed at those people. HOWEVER. Apparently they do NOT take Blue Cross/Blue Shield. How they dont take one of the most popular health insurance carriers in the country is beyond me, since with an ER you cant exactly shop around for a better deal. Nobody told me this while we were there. I got a bill a month later (after talking with someone from billing on the phone who didnt tell me they dont take BCBS) The bill says... "Sorry. Were out of network for Blue Cross." $2400+ for a couple hours in an exam room and a saline IV. $1500 (ish) for the attending physician. There is no way I can pay this. Isnt this what insurance is supposedly FOR? And people wonder why we need healthcare reform. ARGH.

Poor-fair is more than generous. "Deplorable" would be a better description. The quality of care at this hospital makes me cringe. Although there are a few staff members who are compassionate and competent, the vast majority that my loved ones and I have encountered over the past year have been rude, cold, judgmental, and completely disorganized. Within my circle of family and friends, I have heard an endless list of complaints of negligence, misdiagnosis, medication errors, iv insertion disasters, refusal to give iv fluids to dehydrated patients, dismissive attitudes, and general disrespect that mirror my own experiences. Ive lost track of how many health professionals I have spoken with who have said they would never go to Kingston hospital or bring a loved one there. The only redeeming quality is that they tend to move people out of the shiny new waiting room quickly.

I have to disagree with earlier posts. I visited the ER three times in 8 days and each time I found the hospital staff to be very caring, professional and the hospital was very clean. The doctors of the ER were wonderful. They explained each step of the process clearly. Our questions were addressed without hesitation. The staff of nurses and techs were readily available to help us in any way they could. I got the impression that they were happy to be there and liked their jobs. Other posts had negative reviews but I found the experience to be very good considering that being in the ER is not exactly where you want to spend the day. The staff took excellent care of us so I have no complaints only compliments.

Besides the fact that we had to go to the hospital in the first place, we had a wonderful experience here. Everyone working in the ER that night was caring, thoughtful, and extremely knowledgeable. We were taken care of quickly, which made the experience way less stressful. The doctor explained the diagnosis and treatment plan clearly and checked in with us multiple times. The facilities were clean as well. At one point our TV remote stopped working and the nurse took time out of her night to help us, even though it was a small, non-urgent problem. We were so grateful for her and the rest of the staffs attentiveness. I would recommend this ER.

I cannot say enough about the excellent care that I received from every single member of your medical staff. From the excellent and professional caregivers in the Emergency Room to the staffs at 3 Broadway and 3 West, I was given world class care. You all made me feel safe, and assured me that I would get better. I never had to wait for a response when I rang the call button, someone was right there. I wish I could write the name of every person who interacted with me but I am sure I would leave out a name, so many people cared for me. I have been brought back to health and I am eternally grateful. You are all in my prayers.

Sitting here with my stepdaughter who is in pain. We were taken right away but have sitting in this room for three hours. Last night we went to northern dutchess and in 1 hour had a CT scan, a pelvic exam and given medicine that actually helped. Weve had no scans or pelvic exam, and despite me telling them three times that the medicine from last night was the one that helped theyve given her three other things, none working. The staff has been openly annoyed at us despite me being overly nice to them, and we dont know what were even waiting for. God I miss Benedictines ER.

My husband was in and his report is upsetting. Maggie is wonderful as a nurse. Rose was degrading to others In front my husband(patient). To make a " hygienist" comment, considering I am one, is childish and not professional. This comment was made at some point of the day in front of my husband. I would like to promote this hospital but I cant. We had no choice but to come to Kingston hospital and I regret it besides Maggie and Jay.

Go anywhere but here. Spent an unproductive fifteen minutes in the ER in a gown literally full of holes. A quick conversation with a hurried doctor who failed to diagnose my fully broken arm. My visit cost $2000 plus, for a blood pressure test and a two minute conversation. But they offer payment plans, so thats great. A criminal enterprise that should not be open - that they are out of network for BCBS might be a clue.
