All Metro cut my parents HHCs pay rate by one dollar an hour. She learned this via a sticker, placed crookedly on her earnings statement, on Feb. 17. The pay was dropped retroactively as of Feb. 13. When I spoke to Metro Cares director, I was told it was a call on my parents Medicaid provider, Northwell Health, and he was sorry and that it was painful for everybody involved. Really? So why not a letter, dated a few weeks before the face, so that we had time to get our ducks in order? Why a sticker, alleging that the pay cut was due to "rising operating cost," which would contradict what he told me about Northwell? The practice does not sound legal. I am in the process of filing a complaint with Northwell and with the NYS Department of Health. My parents situation is heartbreaking enough without this nonsense.... I would caution all seeking employment to DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Go elsewhere if possible!
