I started going here back in 2010, switching from LI vet who was awesome, purely for convenience. After the first visit with my dog and annual exam, three weeks later his gallbladder ruptured and died. I gave them the benefit of the doubt as maybe it was unforeseeable, but I think a good vet could have prevented it. In any event, I got a new dog from the same breeder in 2010. In 2012 I went simply for his second visit for his annual shots. They charge $90 for an annual exam. I decided to split the shots up. When I came back they charged me $60 for a follow-up "visit" saying he got an additional antibiotic shot (frankly that I never wanted in the first place but didnt feel like arguing with the vet) because of skin issues identified in the prior exam. So basically they want $90 per annual exam plus $60 per additional "visit" for 5 minutes of time, so which is the equivalent of in the minimum $720 per hour plus the mark-up on whatever drugs they sell. It sounds like a pretty sweet gig especially compared to all those human doctors who get paid significantly less, have significantly more schooling, significantly more legal liability, and have to deal with the headache of the insurance companies and administrative burden (cf. cash business). In summary, if you dont mind paying more than human prices for your dog for the convenience of getting a few shots every year from them, go on ahead. Otherwise you might feel like youre getting hosed.

I scheduled an appointment with this vet because my dog had an ear infection. I stopped at the local dog run before going to the appointment and asked other dog owners what they thought of this vet,: they ALL had negative things to say, including that they over-charge every small little procedure. Anyway, I had no choice and went ahead. I thought, all I need is to get the ear medication and that would be it. So the vet did confirm the ear infection and insisted on using a different treatment instead of the drops. The treatment (which is an additional $45 on top of the $85 visit) consists of injecting the medication in the ear where it solidifies and then stays in the ear for 2 weeks. Nothing else to do... "It always works!" Well, 1 week after the visit, the ear actually got worse and there is still a lot of red/black gunk coming out of it. I called this morning to ask if I could just come over and pick up the drops (which I know works) but they told me I had to come in for another visit at $85, just to make sure they prescribe me the rite drops, if needed. So instead I just ordered the drops from Petmeds and will get them tomorrow. I will not go back to this vet and will travel further uptown for my next visit...

Ive been in the area for a while and this was my first visit as a new french bulldog owner. In addition to charging me for services i did not need (inspected for ear mites even though the dog had been preventatively treated for all 6 months at breeder; test came back negative obviously) the doctor began to push all sorts of insurance on me and even said that my frenchie was likely to have to undergo "nasal passage enlargement surgery" sometime in his life. The absolute absurdity (confirmed by my breeder of over 15 years who immediately recommended i go to a different vet asap) had me very upset. This vet represents the cliche over priced, unnessecary procedures to make money, and taking advantage of clients that permeates the worst of NYC and is everything wrong with the state of our current human medical system. I recommend you find a different vet unless you like paying over 250$ for a simple vet visit. They wont even do any procedure, including 2nd round vaccinations, unless they charge you for a doctors visit.

Completely overpriced. Charged ridiculous fees for the most simple of tasks. My dog is heartworm positive (which we know, and has been treated for...), and the vet scared the living daylights out of us. Completed tests that were unnecessary. I got a second opinion from a different vet who has experience with heartworm, she put my mind at ease and knows exactly what to do! When I called BPvet to let them know what the second opinion said, he questioned her years of experience in heartworm knowledge/treatment (kid you not - He said - "She doesnt have years of experience with heartworm because she doesnt work in the south"... Um - she worked previously with the ASPCA and tons of rescue dogs who are heartworm positive..), and then proceeded to tell me incorrect and inaccurate information. I wouldnt fault him had admitted that he has little experience with heart worm positive dogs. YIKES! Not a good feeling. Do NOT recommend.

All of the vets here are extremely nice and helpful. This vet office is affiliated with one in West Village (and has great digital medical records for your pet!), so it is convenient for you in multiple locations. My Japanese Chin has gone here since he first came into my life... I am so thrilled to recommend this wonderful veterinary practice! Its pricy, but for your fur baby, the service is more than worth it!

They are always super helpful and available for my two puppies. The wait isnt long and for a typical check up, it only takes about 20 minutes.
