Very bad experience I had with being one the family members my little Sis pick for the delivery. Everything seems fine and everyone helpful and professional until a nurse called Carmen showed up as the delivery Nurse for the day. She was so unkind I dont understand with so many people unemployed, why the aides and staff at the hospital are allowed to be so rude, lazy and disrespectful to patients and their families...I have never seen anything like it...If you make a complaint, then you are really in trouble!!! All of the aides are aware of the complaint and then you are treated like a leper....Why is it so difficult to treat people with kindness and respect? The hospital needs to hire administrators, who have the time to monitor the employees and see the way patients and their families are treated...Every person has the right to be treated with basic human kindness, and if your employees cant do this, shame on both the employees and administrators. The Nurse Carmen was extremely rude, demanding of you to do as she said even if it was not a rule from the hospital and she would be even bother if you would say another Nurse was nice or even if you use clothes to avoid trasfering batteria to your love one or her little one. So stupid. I know I would not pick this hospital for my delivery day Gods willing.

I was a patient at The Spine Hospital in early August. When I arrived the morning of my surgery, I was warmly greeted and directed to the admission area. Once there, I was treated with patience and kindness and directed as to where I had to wait until being called in to prepare for surgery. Once, the medical staff had prepared me, my family was allowed to remain with me. They were treated with respect and were reassured that all would be well. While in surgery, my family were taken to a beautiful waiting room and provided with foods, snacks and beverages. My wife was kept informed of my progress in the operating room via her cell phone. It was not a text, but rather the nurse and the doctor. The nursing staff, in the recovery room and on the floor was outstanding. They were there when I needed them to assist me or answer any question. The discharge procedure was quick and efficient. This hospital transformed a frightening experience into a reassuring, comforting time. I have nothing but praise for The Allen Hospital - The Spine Hospital. My praise to Dr. Riew , the anesthesiologist, and the staff.

THE WORST HOSPITAL Ive ever been too. My girlfriend is experiencing a bad case of Matitis and theres literally no one helping her while shes there. Shes been in the hospital going on four days now and I can truly say her breast are getting worse by the day. She asks for her doctor and he had the nerve to lie and say he came to check up on her, which he never did. The service is really bad. About two weeks ago we conceived our first child there. May I say it was an horrible experience even thou we had an healthy baby. While my girlfriend was in the process of giving birth, the doctors leave to have a dispute in the hallway which took most of her delivery time. She wasnt hooked up to the "I V" and everything was just a horrible experience. The nurses on the other hand are very polite but lack knowledge of everything, literally everything. The point I am trying to make here is that Im sick and tired of reading about this hospital being a top 100 hospital in the city when clearly it is not. I just want the doctors to do their jobs.

Nice hospital. Its relatively small, so it isnt crazy like a larger hospital. Everything is smaller, from the waiting areas (and I never had to wait long, if at all), to the differerent sections. This makes the hospital experience a lot more pleasent and personal, and seems to make me feel that the staff is more attentive, as there are less patients in each section than larger hospitals . Everything seems nice and clean and non-chaotically orderly. The doctors I have seen listed as working here all seem first rate as is expected of a teaching hospital affiliated with the Columbia University College of Physicans and Surgeons. The doctor I had for 2 different procedures graduated Harvard magna cum laudi and Harvard Medical School cum laudi. The nursing and other staff all seem pleasent and attentive. Staff members including the doctor and nurses not only called me multiple times in the following days,, but send out a thank you card and there is a folow up survey to address any concerns or suggestions.

They managed to turn a wonderful experience into a hostil environment. My niece was going into labor we showed up and the area was dark and dreary no color no life unlike New York Presbyterian where the birthing center is full of butterflies and clouds. Anyway the nursing staff was very rude telling us we could not wait in the waiting room that was completely empty. And we finally begged and she gave us 5min. Then threatened to call security because we were laughing. Then told my niece to leave us home next time. The doctor on call was rude and unfriendly and while pacing the hallway would not even smile or greet us one of the many times we smiled and said hi. These nurses need to take a sensitivity course and some sleep. I have 3 children and can say have never been in such a rude hospital. We left the hospital and my niece will be delivering at the real Presbyterian. Looks like you just lost $10,000.

Except for one excellent nurse named Janet, the staff encountered here is completely awful. When my grandfathers breathing tube popped off we pushed the call button and when no one came we ran to find a nurse. The nurse had no sense of urgency and continued chatting with another nurse until finally she leisurely walked into the room taking her time to slowly put on gloves while our family was in a panic, watching her in horror. My grandfather was in 2 River East and in his final moments one of the night nurses called security on our family because we had more than two visitors in his room. Once we explained to security that we were there to say goodbye, they apologized and left. It is completely unacceptable and disgusting that a nurse would try to deny a family thier final moments with a loved one. This nurse was working the floor and knew the situation. Absolutely horrible.

3 1/2 years ago I had the worst experience of my life giving birth. It was like they were trying to actively kill me. I was hemorrhaging and passing copious amounts of blood and they kind of ignored it. They sent me to recovery and when I stood up a river of blood flowed out. They then proceeded to hold me down while this vicious little mite of a doctor shoved her entire arm up my vagina while pushing down on my uterus. I screamed bloody murder and she got one inch from my face a screamed for me to shut up. The nurses looked shocked. And all I can say is I am lucky to be alive. This was after they threatened to call cps if I refused the hep shot for my daughter. And maybe sounded slightly more educated then the huddled masses that still think doctors are God. This place is horrifying and I pity anyone that has to go here. Run for your life.
