My experience was great! I delivered my child in March and the staff was amazing! I will share my story since there are so many negative ones here, here is a positive one!!! My water broke at home and I called my Dr and asked what to do, go there or to the hospital? They told me they would let the hospital know I was coming and to just go. Upon arrival I was greeted at the desk by a cheerful woman who directed me to labor and delivery and wished me luck! When I got to the department I was taken to a room and given a gown to change into. The resident came in, introduced herself and checked me. She said my water was definitely broken and I was 4 cm. I already knew from prior Dr apts that I was already 100% effaced and 2cm dilated. They hooked up my belly monitor and the nurse continuously checked on me asking if I was comfortable and if I needed my epidural yet. When I first arrived in my room, my nurse introduced herself, she went over any special requests I had or birth plan I had and offered me a small meal, gingerale or water. I arrived around 7pm. My family was coming from over an hour away and they all arrived around 11pm, which the nurse knew they had traveled far and "broke" the rules and allowed all 5 of them to be in my room until around 1am when I got my epidural. One thing I didnt really like is they didnt allow my husband to be there for the epidural. We both work in medicine and dont have issues with that kind of stuff but its protocol so I didnt fight it. My anesthesiologist was AWESOME! He was very cheerful for 1am. My nurse held both my hands and coached me through it. Soon after my nurse came in to tell me she was leaving early from her shift as long as I was ok with it and introduced the new nurse who would be caring for me. This nurse was awesome as well. After my epidural she stayed in my room and monitored me and baby for a few hours. Now I was ready to push and it just so happened to be shift change around 630-7am... So now I was a litter nervous because this nurse I had grown attached to had to leave and this one I had just met was going to be there for the birth, BUT she was even MORE AMAZING than the 1st two!!! I was lucky and MY OB was the on call Dr so I got to have him for the birth! We did about 5-6 rounds of pushes and that nurse coached me through it all!!! She helped me push up, she rubbed my back, she was everything! She commented how my husband was one of the only dads in a long time who hung out down by the Dr watching it all!!! I didnt hold his hand because I had more force holding my thighs when I pushed. Now something they do that I LOVE is the GOLDEN HOUR!!!! And they are serious about it being an HOUR!!! Take it, LOVE IT, ENJOY IT!!!! After all the excitement and your post partum care begins, the nurse got me all set to be wheeled over to my room. She personally brought me over and wished us luck and she even got teary eyed and said she loved being apart of our birth! Now my husband and I are pretty easy going people. We both work in medicine, Im a sonographer, hes a physical therapist so maybe our views of things are different than others. But I would recommend this hospital to anyone who is delivering. My post care with my nurses was awesome. The pediatrician taking care of the babies medial needs was great and would come in and personally speak to us. My Dr came every day I was there to check on me (3 days). It was great! Your experience is what you make of it. We had so much fun with the nurses and even the cleaning staff! I breast fed and my boobs were basically out the entire time I was there, so the cleaning staff, food service staff, and who else knows saw my boobs LOL!!! Oh and they have a lactation nurse who comes in and helps you, teaches you, whatever you need daily!

This was the most unprofessional dealing Ive ever had with the healthcare field. Aside from the woman who gave us a rundown of how the texting system works, every single staff member I spoke with was incredibly defensive, if not openly hostile. One would expect a bit of compassion when dealing with a major surgery - such as the one my mother was undergoing. Firstly, we were told that the surgery would take 2 hours tops, then the same with recovery. We were also told the surgeon - Dr Katherine ODonnell - would come talk to us once my mother had been moved to recovery. Both of these were untrue. While we did receive a text stating my mother was out of surgery, the surgeon did not come out until I spoke to the women at the surgical desk nearly two hours later - hour 4 by now. I understand that lives are literally hanging in the hands of these surgeons, yet you would have thought I accused the woman of high treason instead of merely asking for an update on my mother. Instead of looking into said update, both women sat there arguing with me that that doctor ALWAYS comes out to talk to the patients family. I didnt get any actual answers, and I instead returned to my seat frustrated until the surgeon finally came out nearly an hour later. Completely understandable that shed gone directly to the next patient/the OR was running late, but it was not acceptable when every question I asked was met with a clipped response that brushed off all of my concerns. We were to return to the waiting room for nearly 3 more hours before my mother was released, all the while the only update repeatedly given was "shes doing great and will be out in about half an hour." As it turns out my mothers 02 stats were actually not that great, thus the reason why her recovery took so long. While the staff assisting my brother, aunt, and I gave us absolutely no indication of this? The staff helping my mother behind the scenes assured her that everything was being relayed to us. Great to know this hospital is at least consistent across the board with how helpful they are. When we were FINALLY able to go back, the discharge nurse acted as if we were annoying her by asking questions regarding pain management & symptoms to beware of. At one point she said something to the tune of "weve already explained it to your mother." The same one who was just under sedation anesthesia and couldnt even legally sign herself out of the hospital??? This is also where I will mention that said hospital never gave my mother a follow up call to ensure she wasnt having any issues, and here it is 3 days later. If, god forbid, my mother has to have further surgery? I will be doing everything in my power to ensure it is not at this hospital, as well as I hope someone reads this before they let their own loved one be taken here.

My son and I have spent a total of 12 hours on two recent days in the ER. The entire experience was a nightmare with the exception of the doctors and nurses in actual patient care. They were great to us. The experience before going into a room comprised the nightmare. My son has severe arthritis and recently had spinal surgery. Last Friday, he experienced severe pain in his calf- a classic sign of a clot. We spent 2 and one half hours in the very uncomfortable waiting room before being seen for what I and his primary care doctor consider to be a very serious condition. To top it off, we had to return on Saturday morning for the doppler test of his leg because no one was there to do it on Friday evening. We returned yesterday, Monday 7-10-17 because my son now had chest pain and couldnt breathe- a classic sign of a pulmonary embolism. He came by ambulance from his doctors office after almost collapsing there and he lay on a gurney for three hours in the hallway. No exam, no meds for his pain and no oxygen until I begged for it. They were completely understaffed and ambulance after ambulance delivered patient after patient who stacked up in the hall. Finally a male nurse came on duty and helped my son with his pain and got us into a room in just a few minutes. Care after that was very good. This situation is critical to the community and really needs to be rectified ASAP. My advice is to avoid this ER if at all possible.
