I have two children, one is easy going and brave, the other is anxious and scared. Dr. Tyler saw my daughter, the easy one. He was great with her. Unfortunately, we had to come back for my sons visit as he had to have three teeth extracted. They assured me that a conscious sedation approach would put him at ease and that he would not remember a thing. They quoted me $441 that my insurance wouldnt cover. As I was trying to make this as painless as possible for my child, I agreed to the high cost. Our appointment would be with Dr. Randy this time. They gave him the medication upon arrival. After 10 minutes, they wanted to begin the procedure. I said "he isnt sedated yet". They said "this medication works that way" and not to worry. They began the procedure with injections and it went downhill from there. He screamed and cried. I could hear him down the hall and ran to see what was happening. The doctor snapped at me when I suggested that he was not sedated. "I cant give him any more medication!" I told him that he could obviously feel what they were doing and he said "while he might feel this right now, he will not remember it at all". My mistake here was trusting that as the doctor, he knew what he was doing. My child didnt remember leaving the dentist office that day, but he could tell you a description of every person in that room during the procedure and what was said. Their timing and administration of the drug was completely inadequate and negligent. I called to ask them to reimburse the portion of the bill that was for the sedation. They said that was not their policy. I again reminded them that we were assured that this was going to allow my son get the procedure done without traumatizing him. They chose not to care. I called a pharmacist and two other pediatric dentists in the area. Here is what I found...1) They underdosed my son. 2) Protocol calls for 30 minutes to an hour for full effect. They had NO IDEA what they were doing. I promised my kid that we were going to do everything in our power to make this a good visit and this office created a nightmare. And then the doctor didnt have the decency to return any of my calls and instead made his staff reach out to me. Not even to check on him after the procedure, that was obviously very traumatic. Bottom line is that if you have a routine visit and an easy kid, go ahead. If not, this place is awful. Dr. Randy is impatient and improperly trained to handle difficult cases.

My child visited this dentist at Kids First Pediatric Dentistry in Chandler (Dr. Randy Weinshel) and he seemed nice, and informed me that my child needed 5 cavities and a crown after the exam. I didnt have a good feeling when he told me this as it seemed excessive and my child never had one complaint about a toothache... plus everything was fine at the last cleaning, 6 months prior. He then proceeded to tell me that he was going to give my child a sedative cocktail in addition to the nitrous oxide and I CANNOT be with my child throughout the procedure. That was discomforting, especially since he continued to tell me it was for "patient comfort" when I knew very well it was simply for the "Dr. comfort". He also told me that this is how it is done at most dental offices, which is NOT true come to find out. The shocking results: With all of this not setteling well with my motherly instincts I took my child to get a second opinion. NO WORK NEEDED TO BE DONE. Dr. Weinshel wanted to put my child through an invasive procedure, without mom or any familiar face around, charge me almost $600... for nothing but to make a buck. Please be careful if you go to this dental office, but I highly recommend you dont. It is my opinion that he shouldnt even be in practice trying to take advantage of me and my child the way he did. There is another dentist there, Dr. Tyler Carter whom seemed nice, however I dont know if he shares the same negative practice ethics. Thank you for reading my review, and I hope that sharing this experience however unfortunate it was for us, that this helped with your dental decision.

We originally choose Dr. Tyler because the office was close by, but we are so grateful for good fortune! My older daughter was scared of dentists and now she doesnt blink an eye when we go. They have TONS of patience and I get to sit back and NOT worry about anything. They have a way of putting the kids at ease and there is just enough to keep waiting kids occupied without going overboard. My youngest who is now four went through a period of time when she would not brush and after Dr. Randy explained about Sugar Bugs, she is super good about letting us help her. Neither of my girls have ever had a cavity and I credit the dentists because of the excellent care they take, the skills they teach my kids in a fun way to be good brushers and flossers and the latest technology they use. The team makes going to the dentist and getting the best care a BREEZE -- even the business side with cancelling and rescheduling and so on. Like, the others, I cant say enough good things about this office. PS: Like all smart business owners, these guys even market to parents (free target gift card drawings and so on ...) and simply ask for a truthful review if you have the time. Nothing fake about it, simply SMART.

After moving to Arizona in 2015, the first pediatric dentist we saw here recommended multiple treatments/procedures for each of my four children. None of these treatments had been recommended by our previous dentist, so I was a little skeptical that they were actually necessary. I decided to try Kids First Dental, upon the recommendation of Garn Mason Orthodontics. Needless to say, I was a little apprehensive, based on our first dental experience here. I was relieved when Dr. Tyler told me that they only needed sealants and one small filling. Dr. Tyler was so nice and seems to be very conservative in his treatment approach, which I appreciate! Everyone in the office was very helpful and friendly, from the front office staff/treatment coordinators to the dental assistants and hygienists. I highly recommend Kids First Pediatric Dentistry! Thank you so much for putting this Mom and her kids at ease!

Everyone at this office is so helpful and friendly. Today was my 3 year olds 5th or 6th visit, Ive lost count but every time we come we are greeted and seen right away. I had my 12 month old with me today so I had my hands full and the dental assistant took it upon herself to help my sitting my 3 year old on the x-ray chair (it was his first time taking x-rays, her calm demeanor made him feel comfortable and he did great, there was no fussing from him), taking and putting on his backpack... she was very helpful and very calming to my son. Everyone being so calm and relaxed gives this place that feel and that is wonderful since so many people have a fear of the dentist, they do awesome work here. Now if I could just get my husband to get himself to the dentist, I wish he had a dentist like Dr. Tyler when he was a kid, uh! Kuddos to the Doctors and staff. Love you all!
