Im the type of person who does not like going to see a doctor. I also do not have health insurance at the moment, but a friends mom told me to go to Banner Estrella because not only was it close to my house, but she said I could apply for health insurance there. So, after being sick for for over three months on and off, I finally decided enough is enough and gave it a go. My boyfriend and I sat at the extended part of the waiting room in these chairs lined up against the wall, seeing as there was no room elsewhere. We arrived after I got off work around 10:30pm and finally around 1:30am I went up to the desk and asked the woman (a different woman than the one who checked me in) how many people were ahead of me. She asked for my name and after she found out, became very rude towards me, asking me, "Where have you been? Weve called you ten times about an hour ago. Youve been taken out of the system." Seeing as I never got up or left the emergency room, I told her that my boyfriend and I had been sitting there the entire time, and neither of us heard my name being called. She then questioned where I was sitting and proceeded with, "Well, you can hear me from over there." Most of the other employees either called patients over the intercom or walked around the corner to call out names. It really upset me to know they did not want to do the same for me. She basically called me a liar and said I would have to be reprocessed into the computer system and get put behind every single person in the E.R. The whole time she was very rude to me and my boyfriend when him and I were not being disrespectful in any way. I wish I would have caught her name. She was a bigger woman, caucasian, blue eyes and brown hair. I can guarantee I will NEVER step foot in this hospital again, and I will tell my friends and family to do the same. I plan on getting that womans name and reporting her for being so disrespectful and childish.

Our treatment at the OB triage on Feb. 11th between midnight and 1:30am was just very wrong in so many ways. My daughter was having some problems in her 33rd week of pregnancy. She called her Dr and was told to go into the OB triage immediately. I took her in right away. She checked in and was called back in about 5 minutes. She wanted me back with her for support, she was frightened about what might happen. The nurse didnt let me go back with her when they called her back. I was told I would be called back in a few minutes. I waited 30 minutes. My daughter was texting me saying the nurses back there were not letting me come back to be with her and gave no reason. I asked the receptionist in the waiting area and she said the nurses would call me back when it was time. Another 30 minutes passed and my daughter asked twice for me to come back with her during that time. Every time she was told NO and never given a reason. They checked her and did their thing and then the receptionist opened her window and told me my daughter would be coming out soon. I asked her why I was never allowed to go back to be with her and her answer was, "I dont know". The receptionist never offered to go see if I could come back, she didnt care. This hospital is supposed to be so family oriented. Well they are not. My daughter was frightened about what might be going on with her pregnancy and they refused her to have any family with her. She was back there all alone the whole time. I am very upset at how she and I were treated. She has now decided to deliver her baby at another hospital and I agree with her. This hospital also doesnt allow fathers/family to go with a delivering mother to her room when she is admitted. They take the mother back first and tell the father/family to wait to be called back to the room later. This is not necessary and keeping family apart during any type of care is just plain wrong.

REMARKABLE! JUST FLAT REMARKABLE "EVERYTHING!" On January 26th, 2017 I was pushed into the ER/ICU by the Ambulance folks and those waiting as I arrived. Thinking I had a heart attack at the local movie theater, about 1:30 or 2pm, they sprung into action. Turned out I had gone into "Afibulation..." which I was also told in the ambulance. Didnt know if Id also had an attack. As it turned out, no attack! Bottom line: I was at Banner-Estrella for the next 9 days. The personal care was just remarkable, the nursing staff whod come in and introduce themselves daily when they had a shift change, and gosh, even the House Cleaning "thoroughly enjoyed their jobs," was honestly pleasant & happy. The doctors/team were around "timely," a couple times each day. When I asked the nursing staff to change the 3:30am daily routine of waking me up and taking blood, the accommodated me by not coming in until 6 or 6:30am. Usually up each day by 4:30am normally, that was the time the early morning nursing staff would come in and check vitals, etc... AND THIS WAS THE BEST HOSPITAL FOOD I EVER HAD! I was caregiver for my Dad for 8.5 years, mom for 3 years; they both passed within months of each other, back in 2009. Id spent a lot of time with my Dad of course, as his nursing home. And between them both, a lot of time at hospitals in and around Los Angeles. I had Dad at West Hills, in the San Fernando Valley, another great hospital... And Banner-Estrella at 91st & Thomas, was right up there with the best of them. I put them up there with a wonderful Mayo I was familiar with, and the great Cedar Sinai in West Los Angeles... What a corporate culture that have instilled throughout the Banner- Estrella Hospital staff. Truly a well run House of Healing!

Horrible hospital! I have been here for going on 5 days now both of my arms are black and blue from trying to get blood from dont feel the nurses are very well trained. Second day here the young nurse on the 4th floor gave me a shot so i dont get any blood clots which i have had shot like these many time due to my health. She pinched my skin so hard while she put the needle into my skin i have the worst welt and bruise ever. This nurse also told me after my surgery to keep a eye on the monitor and if my heart rate drops push the nurse button which my heart rate and blood pressure dropped and i pushed the button no one came 45 minutes later another nurse opened my door and asked if i was ok and shes all omg let me get your nurse my nurse came in and said im sorry we had a meeting with the doctors. Really i could of died while she was in her little meeting. Instead of feeling better i feel worse. Im now on the 5th floor and i was so blessed i had a wonderful nurse names Sue best nurse ever. Unfortunately she cant be here 24 hours but now theres another horrible nurse. I warn everyone try to stay away from this place i rather go to death valley i mean WestValley Hospital. I wish i could post pictures of my bruises on here.
