Our poor Charlie girl. We are NOT happy campers. One week ago, she was in a freak dog park accident. Jimmy took her to Bakersfield Veterinary Hospital for emergency services. $500 later, she was sent home with sutures and a drain tube. I took her back 3 days later (Tuesday) for a re-check. Her wound looked bad and was oozing a lot of nasty looking goop. I was told to take her back home and keep an eye on it. I was also charged another $100 for an antibiotic that she "had" to have. I go back 2 days later (Thursday) for another recheck and was informed that there was an area of dead tissue and the stitches were coming apart. Sooooo... Youd think it would get fixed right? NOPE. Again, I was told to take her home and just keep an eye on it. One thing I found odd? Not ONCE did a doctor ever come and talk to us or let us know what was going on. Every question I had, I had to ask a tech, who would go ask a doctor, who would then come back out to relay the message. I felt uneasy with their lack of responsiveness or care but thought maybe I was being overprotective so I took her home to care for her like they said. This morning at 2:30 am, she was making a weird noise so I get up and find her SEIZING. I called the hospital to tell them her wound had opened and ask if the meds they gave her would cause seizures. I foolishly thought they would tell me to come in and they would fix it... But instead? I was told I have to pay ANOTHER $98 just to have a nurse *look* at her???!

After southwest tortured my dog for five weeks, then finally directing me to inject 35 units of insulin 2x a day only to go into an insulin overdose seizures, took her to BVH and they took her right in and admitted her. Tried desperately to save her life..although I almost get violent with Ms. Bergoyne when in a grandmal, I felt it took way too long to get the meds into the IV. But I later realized that I was frantic. Since southwest completely destroyed my trust in vets we had to figure something out because we have two more dogs, when our other dog came down with diabetes too we had no choice but to trust someone. We took our other dog back to BVH but guarded her with our life. No one does a damn thing to our animals unless we are right there. I am sure we have bugged the hell out of them, we will bring our dogs pillow ,and basicly shack up for the duration when she has to stay, we call every hour...they know full well that if anything happens to our animals we will come after them too..they truly understand our fears and put up with our paranoia, moral of the story..find a vet that doesnt mind if you check double check then research on the internet before you do something you are not aware of side effects..BECAUSE VETS DONT CARE..ITS ALL ABOUT YOUR MONEY. After my experience, the ONLY 2 vets that I would recommend is BVH-DR. DICKSON & DR. BURGOYNE.

We got our first puppy this month and Heather from Pet Matchmaker Rescue recommended BVH, and boy am I glad she did! Not only are they incredibly professional and knowledgeable with a clean establishment, but they do their best to make sure you dont spend more than you need to. On top of these great qualities I have called multiple times when I am unsure about something regarding our puppy and they always are happy to help, give advice, reassure me and let me know if its something that needs a visit, with extremely friendly and knowledgeable front desk employees. While I have been in for appointments they taken their time explaining everything and answering any questions I have. Finally they provide 24 hour services which is an Invaluable service given many peoples busy schedules! After hours appointments are charged emergency prices (98$ instead of 49.50$ in our case) but they still allow you to come in with any need you have.(for example we got our puppy in Fresno on a Saturday and didnt get back into town until after hours, but we were still able to do his first check up that night!!) Due to their great staff and professional business practices I cant imagine there being a more helpful vet.

Boarded two dogs there for 4 days. Booked well in advance. When I called to check on reservation they said I wasnt listed. After much back and forth they "found " the reservation and they confirmed our stay. They had asked for medical records from my vet which I sent . Vaccinations needed to be updated after they received the documents which I faxed to them. After updating all vaccines for my dogs I faxed them the new documents. I called to confirm receipt and the lady on the line said the record showed the vaccine were outdated . She kept looking at the old records! When she finally realized her mistake she became cold and distant. At that point an apology would have diffused the situation. None was forthcoming. Then to make matters worse...both dogs came down with kennel cough. I tried to get assistance on obtaining treatment suggestions over the phone but they wouldnt help me . Even when I told them I lived over 120 miles away. I spent top dollar to have my dogs taken care while I was away. Aparrently I made a bad choice. This facility make look impressive but ultimately the quality of care and service from these people and their organization is not up to par.

I have taken my animals here for many years. This past October I took in my senior cat who had the Senior panal and xrays. A few days later, I received a call from Dr. Betts (who is just wonderful) who informed me my Cotton is diabetic and walked me through each senerio with or without treatment. It has been quite the journey on getting my boy healthy again, but here we are in May 2016 and with proper feeding and insulin 2x a day he doesnt have to go back for 6 mos. Happy!!! In January we noticed our Stafford Shire Terrier was not herself, same basic workup as my cat. She on the other hand was not going to last much longer. She had cancer, I of course wanted to know what route would be best. Dr Aquire I believe it was explained the different avenues we could or could not take. As it turned out we wouldve have been prolonging the enevitable so we putt her down. We were never pushed to make a choice and were told to take as long as we needed to say our goodbye. Just all around a great Hospital for your fur babies

Dr. Aguirre assumed my pets account from referral from the VCA hospital in Fountain Valley. She keeps in close touch with the internists there and was recommended highly by them. She does not hesitate to call them if she cant answer your questions. My dog is critically ill with an autoimmune disease and Dr. Aguirre has done something I have not had the pleasure of before! She calls you promptly with results and often to check to make sure your pet is doing better when a pet is critically ill and to answer VERY patiently any questions you have. She doesnt rush you off the phone. She wants to be sure you have your questions answered. The lab results are quick and I have found all of the staff to be super helpful. And she was going on vacation and saw our other pet quickly before she left to make sure that the dog is receiving the best care possible for a dog that is very elderly. Prayers that God blesses her richly! We love her care of our dogs.
