I had an appalling experience at John Muir the Mammogram part of the hospital. I had a mammogram done because I’m 40, to see if I had any abnormalities. I arrived on a Wed and was not giving any instruction on the part of they might call you back if more images if need. So when I did receive a call the next day like any one would assume, I assumed the worst. The worst part of it though, is that they had a girl who makes the appointments call me. So of course when I asked why, she couldn’t tell me. She did find a Dr. whether she was a general radiologist or imagining specialist or just some Dr. I don’t know. Who ramble off what they or she saw but, I couldn’t really understand what that meant. I later on my own found out you want a Radiologist Imaging Specialist to read your results. Whoever runs John Muir Hospital should realized when you get a call for more testing, especially on life threaten diseases it would be nice to have a nurse or a Dr. call you to help you deal with the possibilities that you may have Cancer. I returned the next day on no sleep, worry, mentally exhausted, sick to my stomach. They took me in and got the first set of x-rays done then cattle me to another room to wait because they needed the room for someone else (and I was told they didn’t have but that x-ray room to use). Then the x-ray technician came back and said that they needed an ultra sound (I started to cry). I asked to speak to the Doctor they kept refusing saying well he can’t tell you anything because he doesn’t have all the test (which I understand but, after an hour of waiting at least come tell me what you suspect you see or what your trying to disprove, any words of comfort by this time would have been appreciated.) I get to the ultrasound room ( all along carrying all my possessions, they don’t have any place for a women to leave here belongings while she’s in a hospital gown going from room to room having everyone watch as she does.) She takes the images and goes to tell the Doctor around another hour pass and she comes back and says he wants more x-rays done. I’m completely a mess by now. I‘m once again cattle through to the x-ray room and ask again to speak to the Doctor and once again told no. More images are taken this time they let me wait in the room still undress in a gown. Finally the Doctor comes in and says “How are you”. I said “Really, how do you think?” He said “nothing’s wrong go home (he was upset like I was bothering him with petty questions). I had to insisted for him to explain to me what he saw and then he said well you have to came back in 6 months to see if this mass grows then we can Biopsy it.. REALLY biopsy and I was told nothing was wrong to go home. Needless to say I will never go back or recommend the unprofessionalism of John Muir Hospital. The name of this Dr. or radiologist or whoever he was is Dr. Sundeep Nayak

11/30/14 Ive been in the cardiovascular building at John Muir many times for different reasons, most recently, last night (Saturday). On the way into the building there are face masks and hand sanitizer. Inside, my husband and I stopped in the lobby to look at the prettily decorated Christmas tree and other decorations. The main front desk was empty but we were able to find a directional guide near the elevator and figure out which floor we needed. The second floor is home to the progressive care unit - where a patient may be moved after ER, but before a surgery. There is a large waiting room with a TV and many chairs, so your family and friends can come see you but not all crowd your private room at once. Outside of that waiting room is a front desk where I found two friendly girls sitting - happy to direct me to the room I was looking for. Many of the private rooms are very spacious - the one I saw last night had 6 people comfortable sitting in it - and only one patient. He had a private bathroom and it was set up very nicely. Its nice to know that your loved one is really being cared for. Outside of this patients room there was another desk with three other staff people working and checking on patients. Everything was very clean (duh, its a hospital). I really have only had good experiences here when talking with staff and patients. The cardiovascular unit is really nice - hopefully you wont ever have to visit someone being treated in there, but if you do, Id trust that they are in good hands.

Ive been going to this john Muir hospital and ER for years, however my last visit this AM was TERRIBLE beyond awful. I go pretty often to the ER due to pain. I get a lot of pain regarding my medical condition, and today everyone who would come in my room was very rude to me and they were all complaining of why I was there. they were like "OH you shouldnt come that often to the ER get a doctor so you dont come here" everyone basically said that SPECIALLY THE NURSES AND DOCTOR. the nurses were so sencitive to things I would say, one of the nurses told me that I was offending her by telling her something in regards my medicine, that is so stupid, I was not offending her in anyway, we were talking about meds and she came up with that. so so stupid. this is unacceptable this is rude and not professional whatsoever. the only Peron who was nice to me was the CT scan lady but everyone else were complete jerks. I will NEVER EVER come back there unless I were to have a heart attack or something like that. Dont come to this hospital people are very bad here. oh and did I mention that when I was getting discharge, one of the nurse pulled extremely hard on my IV while taking it out in purpose, this kind of things SHOULD NOT happen in a "professional" setting. Please dont come here unless you want to be treated horribly.

My daughter was frequently admitted to this hospital since last year. She was treated with respect and kind caring every admissions. Although, there are few HBS ( hospitalist) or ER doctors not caring, most of time, doctors were very understanding of my daughters condition( with rare disease). Just recent visit to ER, my daughter was offered pain med no other doctors ever offered to relief her abdominal pain. There are no other pain med( morphine , Dilaudid) will relieve this pain. Stanford hospital refused to give her. Dr Seng and Dr Zu were angels who saved my daughters severe abdominal pain. They did not think about addiction at this time but only to relief her pain which Stanford hospital always refused to do. Dr Seng, hospitalist, was excellent doctor though did not know how to treat her rare disease ,did not ignore her bowel pain and other physical problems ( Stanford hospital completely ignored everything her physical complaints and pain). Coordinators, case managers, and nurses all were excellent with patient care.

If you have any other options DO NOT go to this hospital! They discharged my Dad last night in a total manic state. Hes unable to walk without help He didnt have anyone to pick him up so they called and paid for a taxi that dropped him off on his porch !... a neighbor got her grandson to help him get in his house and bed (Not sure how long he sat out there) He cant get out of bed on his own so he has a bucket for a bed pan ....he called me and said he was thirsty but cant get up to get water! Seriously how could medical professionals think that someone who cant even walk on his own let alone feed himself is ready for discharge to go home alone? This story could be much longer and he had an experience a year ago that was 10x worse! And this time Im not letting it go! Somehow someone is going to answer for this!
