This Hospital is a down right scam... I went to the ER because I was bit by a Hobo spider late one night when i got into bed. I managed to kill the spider and begin looking it up on my phone... the articles i found online all told me to go to the ER immediately. So I called ahead and told the girl at the counter what happened and that I had the spider with me. Trying to let them prepare whatever they needed to "treat" me... This was about 2am so the ER was my only choice... When I arrived at the ER they had me sign in and sit on a chair to wait for the "Dr." Dr Gregory Larsen Do shows up, looks at the spider then walks off for a second and returns with his iPhone...HIS iPHONE! He googled the spider and came up with the same articles that I did before I came to the ER. The "Dr." Proceeded to tell me that the bite was a "wound care" situation...Meaning they can do nothing for the bite....There is no medical treatment for the venom from the spider itself, the only thing they can do is wait to see what happens and then "treat" the wound... They did nothing for me when I came in.. No treatment no antibiotics nothing... The "Dr." did nothing but GOOGLE it.... The time in and out the door was around 15 to 20 mins of no services rendered....When I asked how much this is going to cost me the girls behind the counter said.."Oh we dont know..They will send you a bill." I was thinking this was going to cost around 200 bucks.. I wasnt happy about that but I brought cash, as Im currently uninsured.. but since they wouldnt tell how much or let me pay I went on my way. So here comes the shake down... They finally sent me a bill. Two bills actually.. one from the "Dr." one from the hospital. The one from the Doc was 206$ close to what I originally thought it would be.. The hospital one was 954$!!! What?! 954$! For what?! They literally did nothing... Nothing but letting me sign my name and sit in a chair... A very expensive plastic chair I guess.. I understand the overhead they have to combat. They stay open 24hours they have 8 people in there doing who knows what. The doctors they employ apparently think that they should make 200 bucks every 15 mins. I guess the ink in the pen that I used to sign my name was laced with gold. They tell you its illegal for them to tell you the cost of the "services" beforehand. It seems to them that the cost is to high to tell you up front because it would cause you to base your decision on whether or not you can pay these outrageous rates. There in lies the problem.... by not telling me how much it costs you took the decision away from me. Had they told me this was gonna cost me 1000 bucks I WOULD have left. And thats ok because it would be MY decision to make. I would be liable for whatever happens to me. By not presenting that choice the hospital has robbed me of my free will and money. I dont even want to get started on the "Dr" himself.... Seems to me an ethical person that is supposed to care for people. Would feel something about charging me 206$ for doing nothing more that checking his phone. Guess he (Dr. Gregory Larsen Do) cares about money more than people. Or maybe he just needs the money to pay his phone bill..

On Thursday, July 21, I suffered a an awful fall on my right side while installing a canopy on my deck. The next morning, after waking up in agony, went to the ER at Redwood. I waited four hours in Redwoods ER Friday in pain from the fall. Then a nurse comes out and announces a four car accident off 36 just arrived and all of us who were already waiting to be seen to expect "a long wait; you may want to come back later..." This is the ER! More staff, and stat! Trauma situation, twenty people waiting to be seen and one doctor in a hospital that apparently staffs 700. My friend was waiting with me suggested St. Josephs in Eureka. By then was too exhausted and just wanted to go home, and informed the nurse I would return over the weekend if the pain worsened. ER was packed with all these auto collision victims. Having been to Redwood previously for arthritis and treated well by Dr. Olesnicky. He listened, explained what was going on physically and prescribed anti anxiety & pain meds. A nice man whom took time to answer my questions. So this scenario about being told to come back later made no sense, especially in a hospital! Today Dr. "Vladimir" (fitting name) was the only Dr. On duty. Lucky me had the displeasure of being treated by this doctor who didnt give me but two minutes of his time- he wasnt interested, Cut me off as I explained the falll, didnt seem interested that I could not lift my right arm without excruciating pain. No interest in my bloody and swollen knee. He just wanted to know why I waited to come in today (Sunday), instead of the day of injury. Explained about waiting for hours on Friday before the four car trauma accident. He shrugged that off. Ordered several X-rays, noticed a few small fractures and said to go home and take ibuprofen. I cant take ibuprofen. This fell on deaf dr. Ears. When I complained to the nurse how rude and indifferent Dr. Vlad was, she was kind enough to give me an injection for the pain. She seemed to understand my distress. The nurses at a Redwood should be commended! Methinks Dr. Vladimir should work for Trump as then he will know what it is like to be treated like dirt. Dr. Vlad, you suck. I feel for your co-workers.

This ER is the WORST ER I have ever been to. The doctors & nurses are the rude, uncaring &have NO compassion towards the patients. The last time I was there, with a bad back injury, muddy & wet from my fall. They never even gave me a gown..The Dr. told the nurse to start an IV,she NEVER did. The Dr. said Nothing else about it. I had to pee, they gave me cardboard bed pan. tho I was in horrible pain. I couldn't go laying down. The nurse was suppose to bring a comode, never did. After all the tests were done,Nothing broken, badly sprained back w/friction burns on my arms. The nurse had me sign release papers. No one did anything. My back was so bad I could not walk. The Dr. suggested I stay with someone else cuz my house has stairs in front & back.Everyone I know has stairs.Another Dr. I know was there having a personal conversation with a nurse. I said,"Excuse me Dr. can I ask you a question?,Hi" & went back to his personal conversation. I Signed the papers. My husband asked for a wheelchair. I still couldn't walk. The nurse shoved one @ my husband & walked away.Asked the Dr. what to do about me not walking? He says the same as before. My husband & I left very, very angry. I could not walk for 5days & crawled to the restroom. I had been to Redwood several times, seems to be the norm there.I will drive the extra miles & go to St. Joseph's! Even if I were dying!!! Dr.& nurses are suppose to swear to do no harm,at Redwood they never heard of that...
