Ive Not only had ONE bad experience there, but THREE. I finally moved out of the area and a big part of that decision was because of my fear of having to return to Leominster hospital for care. 1. Went for a day surgery, and while laying there a Male Doctors aide was cracking "Male" jokes while I was having the procedure. The female anaesthesiologist didnt think they were funny and the Doctor showed his frustration trying to shut the male nurse up, all while working on me. I did have issues after the surgery too, and felt they were related to the Doctor being under stress. I saw it in his face. But, I was afraid to return. Eventually I did have to meet the Doc again to find a solution. 2. I went to the Emergency care branch in Fitchburg to be examined in for a broken Jaw in a road rage incident, and asked twice if I should have an X-Ray. Doctor said it was only swollen and to take Motrin. 2 Days later, still with the pain, I went to my own Doctor who ordered an X-Ray. Guess what? It WAS broken and I had to have it wired. 3 days later than it should have been. 3. Had and adult procedure done, and after, while I recovering I woke to a female nurse shoving so hard to sit me up that it hurt my neck. I was so much in a daze that I tried to get her name, but couldnt remember it. All I remember is hearing her whine about how she wanted to leave early and the person in change said shed have to wait until all patients woke up. #Bonus. An emergency room Visit brought me a Doc and Nurse who were arrogant, unfriendly and uninformative. If this is how they are when I am alert, I was VERY afraid of how I would be treated if I wasnt. Since I have moved out of the area and have been dealing with Heywood Hospital in Gardner, Mass, I feel a LOT Safer. Its like night and day. Ive seen first hand how a Hospital SHOULD be. Friendly, informative and caring. If you NEED to go to Leominster, For your sake, I pray that it has changed since Ive been there. Good Luck!!!

Ive been reading the reviews on this hospital and just wanted to add mine. I too hate the amount of time it takes to be seen in the ER but has anyone stopped to think about why? Maybe its the large number of people that treat the ER as a primary care physician. Or maybe its those people that can easily go to their primary care during the week but wait until the weekend when they have no choice but to go to the ER. I cannot begin to tell you how many times Ive been up there because a family member has been brought in by ambulance and I have seen people waiting that have a stubbed toe, a cold, and other such minor things that could be treated at Burbank (as one reviewer noted, which means if they could go there then it wasnt an ER need since Burbank is a Urgent Care facility and NOT an ER). Now, I can confirm that their nurses and doctors are always the best or nice (although I havent had any issues with either or them) but what hospital can say that theirs are always the best and always nice. Both are very overworked in the ER and after seeing so many people that have minor medical needs that are taking up lots of time that are better spent on those that have major medical needs I would think you might be cranky once in a while too.... I know I would and probably be fired for yanking some of them by their hair if I had to tolerate the disrespect Ive seen take place and once I saw a man threaten a nurse for no reason except the doctor wouldnt prescript a painkiller (I wonder why?) So, all I can say is where you gonna go when you need your life saved? Thank God we at least have a place to go.

I decided to try the nearest ER which is at Leominster Hospital. Not being a big city hospital, I expected there would be less traffic. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a make-shift wooden Check-In Station with clipboards and pencils for us to fill out the initial form. There was no-one in attendance. I filled out the form and returned it to the wooden shelf. Soon, three other patients arrived, filled out their forms and returned them to the station, in no particular order. There was a call button, so I decided to use it, twice. Predictably, there was no response. I could see an administrator through the glass talking on and on with the patient who was before me. Apparently, you check-in, then get called for registration. This went on for some time with the admin person, a plump middle aged woman, repeatedly wiping her runny nose with her hand. Left hand, right hand, back of hand, inside of hand. I imagined she was looking for a dry spot? It occurred to me that if I wasnt sick when I got there, I soon would be. I weighed my options and decided on a pre-emptive course of action. I retrieved my check-in form from the clipboard and left!

I went into the hospital for a chemical burn and explain that I recd a chemical burn after being treated with silver nitrate for a keloid removal in my belly button. I explained IN DETAIL what happened and even explained how to treat the burns with Silvadene...instead the doctor looks at the burns and asked me why it was black, I said, I didnt know, because of the chemical? Silver nitrate leaves black staining for a few weeks, but should leave burn marks. She then proceeded to SCRUB the burn with an alcohol prep swab. I asked for Silvadene she refused and told me see my original doctor and to treat the area with heat because of infection. She sent me home with no treatment and advised me to take pain medication when I got home. I did end up going back to original doctor, who was further away, which is why I choose Leominster hospital, and he treated me for the chemical burns. Silvadene cleared them right up. Her incompetence caused me more traumatic pain then I had experienced in a long time.

Arrived by LFD ambulance, Dr diagnosed me with a back muscle strain, no x-ray or any imaging done. Sent me home, gave me anti inflammatory meds. Was in extreme pain for 5 days and went back to ER, the Dr was going to send me home with the same back strain diagnosis, I had to basically beg for them to do some type of imaging. Finally they did a CT scan. I wasnt even back to my spot in the hallway and the Dr caught up to me they are transporting me to UMass Worcester now. I had a burst fracture of my L4 vertebra, bone fragments were protruding into my spinal cord. This place should be shut down, I was very close to being paralyzed because of those halfassed Drs there. UMass Worcester is a excellent hospital, got right into the operating room, my top notch neurosurgeon screwed me back together like a pro. Sorry for the long rant but Leominster Health Alliance hospital is worthless, go anywhere but here, dont put ur life in the hands of these Mickey mouse amateurs.
