I took my wife in here with chest pains and they rushed her back as I dealt with admissions and as soon as they found out she was on OHP the receptionist wanted my wife taken out of the room she was in and began whispering so I could not hear and upon asking what the issue was I received a curt answer nothing and when the person that was told to go tell the Dr or PA who took my wife back to get her out of that room came back and told the receptionist that the Dr or PA said not only no but absolutely not she was staying put the receptionist went back there herself and ordered the people working on my wife to move her back to the waiting room untill some other room came open she was told again no and continued to work on my wife. When the receptionist returned I was upset by what had transpired and wanted to know why the sudden change and the rude behavior towards my wife. I received no answer just a quick apology and was told to have a seat that I could go back in a few minutes. 20 minutes later I was allowed to go back to my wifes room amazingly she was still in room 6 the one the receptionist wanted her out of. As I approached the room I saw destress on my wifes face and I rushed to her said asking what was wrong. She informed me that the guy trying to draw blood could not get a vein. I was aware that my wife had veins that were hard to hit but never have I had to watch as someone such as the person trying to find a vein put my wife through so much pain and trauma I tried calming my wife telling her to focus on my hands lightly caressing her and lowered my voice to calm her. I watched this man dig around as my wife tried not to move for more then 30 second and then he tried another spot then another then another until finally I told him no more he said he would get the lab to come down this after he put 8 bruises on my wifes arms after over 25 minutes of digging. The lab nurse that came down was sweet and I just knew my wife was in good hands. First try the lab nurse gets a vein in my wifes hand and was done. But can you believe the nurse pulled away to soon shooting more blood on herself and the floor then in the tube. She apologized saying the little amount she got was enough. Frustrated I left the room for a breather you returning I met my wifes Dr. He was very curtious and polite he was for the most part gently with my wife and explained everything very well he and the person that came out and got my wife at the start of her visit get 10 out of 10 stars but the rest of the staff get none not one they were rude disrespectful and I believe bias because my wife has OHP. I will drive my wife to Portland before I ever take her back there. Shame on you people what gives you the right to judge my wife that way. I hope you never find yourselves looking for some help in a time when things were falling apart in your lives and you need OHP. Truly disgusted in Toledo K&D

In terms of the actual care I received from the midwife, it was wonderful. Everything else seems to be a mess. (1) My first issue was in the lab. First, the guy smelled terribly of cigarettes, which is magnified when pregnant. Then, he got a drop of blood on me BEFORE he drew my blood. He didnt notice until I pointed it out to him. He explained that he had a little cut on his finger that he didnt realize was bleeding. He did clean my arm with an alcohol wipe, but obviously still not a super comfortable situation. I meant to call and speak to somebody about this unsafe situation, but I got busy and eventually it fell off my radar. (2) I showed up for my scheduled prenatal appointment to find a sign on the door that the office was closed due to weather. Nobody bothered to call me about this? When they called the next day to reschedule, I was told they sent an electronic message through the online charting system. Thats great, but why would I think to log into that before my appointment? I get a phone call reminder before every appointment to make sure I wont miss my appointment; it only seems fair to offer patients the same courtesy if youre going to cancel. (3) I declined to reschedule that appointment since we are moving out of town, so instead I spoke to somebody in medical records to have my records transferred to my new OB office. I completed, signed, and submitted the records release form. 11 days later, I called my new OB office because I had not heard from them, and I was informed that they never received my records. And so, despite quality care from the midwife, this place gets 2 stars from me because I am sick of dealing with all of the other issues.

Misdiagnosed by a old obese unhealthy doctor on my first visit but then a real professional "Rick" was able to quickly observe that my ear drum was broken the next day of going to the ER. Then after Dr. Rick left the room another obese unhealthy female came in and tried to bully me out of the medication the doctor prescribed because I did not have enough money to pay for it. She even asked me how I was able to eat food if I did not have enough money in a rude antagonistic tone. All of it is on video and please feel free to message me anytime if you would like to hear the full conversation. This ER is a fraud, I have many friends that have received horrid service here, false diagnosis, and have been kept from receiving real treatment. Even the specialist that they referred to me to in their paperwork refuses to see me because I have not given them enough money while I can no longer hear out of my right ear, and my entire head feels like it is infected. Certainly working as much as possible in Newport does not provide me with enough money to even purchase the prescriptions let alone the specialists that are not available for months after requesting an appointment. So much for obamacare, our health care system is a weapon to kill you but even if I need the ER I now know that a bum off the streets will try to help me more than the staff at this horrid "Samaritan" hospital.

From: Philip Russell 1420 SW Crest Crcle Waldport, OR 97394 To: Newport Samaritiin Hospital 930 Southwest Abbey Street Newport, OR 97365 Hello, I was a patient in your hospital, November 4 to 14. I was in room 201. Also known there as 08/07/11. :) I am writing to tel] you the magificent care I received. If I could name each and every person who attended my needs , it would be so very long. The persons who attended me the most were nurse Kellie and assistant Angie. They were beyond any negative thoughts. Another area is the kitchen. The long menu is unlike the menu in any other hospital. But that is not the end of it. The staff who took my requesty wee so gracious and caring. As for the many other nurses and assistants, the list would be way too long to name here. This is an indication of the great staff you have there. Thank you so much for a stay that was as perfect as it could be for an ill person. I would like this letter included in the files of the appropriate people. Thank you, Philip Russell
