I am horrible with computers or would have done this long ago. I recently moved here from back East. I no longer had my trusted vet to go to and my cat "Buddy" was in poor shape. It was coming down to my regret whether or not I could afford the surgeries need to get him better. I disliked putting life in dollar and cents, but had to. Buddy was in poor shape with Urinary problems. He was very sick he was hurting but still wanted to be near me. Dr. Hack was both empathetic to my situation, but also to the reality I faced. I am a poor grad student so have to stretch things as far as I can. Having Buddy greet me at the door has made a load of difference so you can understand my situation. Dr. Hack gave what he called the "College Try" and helped me to nurse Buddy back to his vibrant self again. I did not realize how the infection was such a drain on his personality. He is not able to be out in the real world because he is blind. He "wiskers" his way around the area. Because of Dr. Hacks stick-to-itness Buddy is now back to his true self. Yes his attempts for attention has almost lost me a long period work on a paper; paw almost hitting delete button. I would not do without him. I would not give up on Buddy and neither did Dr. Hack. As I noted I am a Grad. Student and low on funds. Friends were sending me money from home to help with the costs so the people at the Codornice Vet Clinic allowed me to leave a check for the cost and waited till I could put the funds in to cover the check. Life , in this, was more important than a quick return on the vets end of the whole thing. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They made me feel like family. Both they and Dr. Hack kept track on Buddys progress when they did not have to do that. While waiting for buddys Meds, I noticed how all the vets at the clinic treated the animals the same as a medical doctor would treat a human being. I tend to be wordy, but in this case I cannot say enough about Corornices Vet. Clinic. When I find "good people" I stay with them and I have a "NEW" Trusted Vet again!

After supporting and caring for a number of cats over my adult life ( no one really owns a cat), I was at my wits end with current cat, Sophia. She had both a behavioral problem (urinating outside of the litter box) and physical problems -- a stone in her bladder and urinary tract infection. I took Sophia to Codornices Veterinary Clinic for a second opinion on the stone and for help with the behavioral issue. I was hesitant with my first vets recommendation to do surgery on the stone right away, perhaps I was hesitate due to the vets eagerness to do surgery. At Cordonrnices, I met with my new vet, Dr. Grant. He took a lot of time with me, sensing my distress. I left with a list of behavioral management ideas, medication for the infection, a change in diet and a wait and see on the stone -- although it was confirmed later by x-ray. He had explained to me that sometimes kittens with stones can be treated through diet but, rarely with adult cats. I followed the behavioral management tips to the letter, and the litter box issue miraculously ceased -- perhaps also attributable to simultaneous treatment of the infection. The change in diet had its ups and downs, but ultimately successful. The stone remained however, and after a few more months I decided on surgery. I took Sophia in early one morning only be called back to the office a short time later. The pre-surgery x-ray showed no stone, so there was no reason for the surgery. She had apparently responded to the change in diet. That was 18 months ago and Sophia has been fine ever since. We are so appreciative of Dr. Grant and the staff at Cordonrnices. I know not all outcomes can be this ideal but, the willing to take the time, to be so diagnostically through made all the difference in the world. I have a lot of respect and trust with this clinic.

Codornices Vet is an excellent Clinic! My best friends family took their cats and Dogs there for 14 years and from the beginning they were treated like family. Dr. Hack and Dr. Grant saved my dogs life. We adopted my dog from a county shelter and when we got her we thought what a calm pup. Unfortunately what we did not know was that she had pneumonia. We took her to VCA on Solano Ave. in Albany and they gave her some antibiotics. Unfortunately my puppy did not recover, I then took her to Cordornices, and Dr. Hack and Dr. Grant, noticed that she was not on the correct dosage for her weight. They corrected the dosage but she did not improve. Dr. Hack has been practicing for at least 20-30 years and he recommended we get x-rays sent to Davis to check on her lungs. Turns out she had interstitial pneumonia and she needed very strong antibiotics. It was so wonderful to get the right treatment and to know that the Vets here know their stuff. My dog has had other ongoing health problems including a hyper extension in her front paw joint. Dr. Hack noticed this in a routine check up and referred us to the Sams clinic in Mill Valley. Both Dr. Sam and Dr. Hack are conservative when it comes to surgery and instead of a costly surgery, they splinted her for a few weeks and gave me a brace for her leg. She is now 7 years old and has still not needed surgery. I am so thankful to the folks at this Vet. I have stated above about the two main Vets that My dog has seen regularly, but the Vet tech staff is just as wonderful. They knew both myself and my dog after only a few visits and are very supportive and professional with nervous pets. One other benefit is that they are cheaper than VCA and they have good prices for follow up visits. ( they may even still be free)

It is sad to see Dr. Richard M. Hack Jr. tradition all changed, expanded but somehow downsized in technicians under new management. At this time Codornices Clinic is practically run by their unskilled front desk ; condition or symptoms are not screened by a licensed nurse or technician like in the past; the overwhelmed clerks have a negative approach to their communicative skills; Janet the Practice General Manager is not a technician; nevertheless she screens and gives advice of what she doesnt know .A young temporary doctor working for Codornices recently under doctor Cox supervision prescribed my dog an oral pesticide for demodex knowing the dog was highly allergic; the dog became full of pimples all over that required two weeks of antibiotics. There was another drug of choice that she could have prescribed with no side effects. The downside is price, so far the only choice for autoimmune or allergic dogs. I called back asking for the doctor who saw my dog I was told she was a temp help, left a message to reach the "doctor in charge", it was not returned within 24 hours, the next appointment available three days later. Spending $300 and getting a sicker dog is a very sad experience. I do not recommend Codornices to anyone.
