I took my 12 month old lab here to have her spayed after moving to HMB. She developed some problems after the op, she couldnt pee or poo and we had to take her back to be given laxatives. She was terrified of going back in. Two weeks later we noticed the muscles around her bottom were drooping. We were worried it was a problem caused by the op and again went in to see the doctor. I couldnt even get my dog to get out of the car at the office. I went in to ask if someone could help me carry her. Instead one of the assistants brought a rope and proceeded to drag her across the pavement at which point I grabbed my dog and carried her on my own. For some reason we walked past the area where the kennels are. Dirty bloody scissors and bandages were lying on one of the counters and in general it did not look very clean. Our usually very happy, patient and kind dog went crazy when she saw the vet, who promptly inferred our dog was violent and made me pin her to the ground before entering the examination room. The vet didnt recognize us and obviously hadnt read the notes as she started telling me this story about how in older dogs, as in women, the muscles in that area will start to droop with age. And she asked if wed considered having our dog spayed! Our dog was only 12 months old and had been operated on only 2 weeks prior! We walked out and never looked back. We changed to Linda Mar Vets in Pacifica who were wonderful and so patient in helping our dog trust vets again. Its taken us 3 years and our dog again happily goes to visit the vet today, without the anxiety she obviously felt at Half Moon Bay Veterinary. We dont know what happens there behind closed doors, but I trust my dogs instincts and would never go back.

Laurie McKinney has been my vet through four dogs and two cats and shes wonderful. Very caring, very reasonably priced. My dogs response to any vet is variable. Isabella loves everyone, Freddie (who has a metal rod holding his foreleg together these days,) isnt that fond of the office. But Freddie is a congenital cry baby. Its true the front office has had some ups and downs over the years, but everyone at the new location is helpful and friendly, and I love the new vets who have joined the staff. I have no hesitation recommending the office.

I cannot express my gratitude or my thanks enough to the team at Half Moon By Veterinary. What was a terrible situation with my 13 year old Mini Schnauzer Annabelle, they made the most comfortable and loving time possible. Dr Nordhagen and Kathy are compassionate and caring above my expectations and we will be bringing Matilda, Kahilani and Kekoa here as this will be our new vet office. Thank you! -Diane

I love the staff here, first off, as they are extremely knowledgeable and caring. The office is spacious and clean, and for a vet office, that is important. They are very close by and for a dog or cat that suffers from anxiety on trips to the vet, it makes it nice not to travel out of town. They offer good hours, including Saturday, and very reasonable prices.
