Tama Veterinary Hospital is located in Milpitas, California. It offers emergency veterinarian services and has a rating of 4.8 according to the information available. The hospital is led by Dr. Tama, who has garnered both praise and criticism from clients.
Many clients have expressed their satisfaction with the services provided at Tama Veterinary Hospital. They commend the staff for being organized, timely, and efficient. Dr. Tama, in particular, is noted for his compassion and thoroughness. Clients appreciate the reasonable pricing and the availability of plans that cover various treatments. The hospital also has a resident cat named Patrick, adding a touch of charm to the facility.
However, not all experiences have been positive. Some clients have raised concerns about the hospital's business practices, describing them as "disrespectful" and "shady." There have been instances where clients specifically requested Dr. Tama but were attended to by other veterinarians. This has led to dissatisfaction, especially when the outcomes were not as expected. One client even claimed that their pet's condition worsened after a procedure conducted by a different veterinarian.
A few reviews go beyond dissatisfaction and allege serious misconduct. One client claimed that their puppy died under the care of the hospital and accused the staff of being insensitive and incompetent. This has raised questions about the level of care and expertise at the facility.
The reviews for Tama Veterinary Hospital are a mix of extremely positive and severely negative experiences. While many praise the quality of care and the professionalism of Dr. Tama, others question the integrity of the hospital's practices. This leaves potential clients in a quandary, unsure of what to expect from this medical facility.

Please read of our experience at Tama Veterinary Hospital and their disrespectful and shady business practices. First of all, this Veterinarian hospital despite of being in Milpitas, is more expensive than veterinarian hospitals in Palo Alto and other affluent parts of the Bay Area, which would be worth and justified, if only they had a little bit more of respect and integrity for and towards their clients. My husband and I first met Dr. Tama about three years ago during the "Bar in the Park" event in San Jose, and we were so impressed with him that we decided to try Dr. Tama. We live in San Jose, where there is plenty of Veterinarians, the ONLY reason we drove all the way to Milpitas was to see Dr. Tama (he is a great Veterinarian). For the first couple of visits or so he would be the attending vet, but after that, DESPITE OUR SPECIFIC REQUEST THAT DR. TAMA SEE OUR BELOVED DOG every time it was another Veterinarian the one seeing our dog. This was at the point that we felt we were begging Dr. Tama to care for our dog. Our dog is an elderly dog that requires especial attention. Since my husband and I do not have any kids, our dog is our child and we want the best for him. The last time our dog had a dental cleaning I specifically asked that Dr. Tama performed the procedure. The person on the phone said Dr. Tama would do it. But they LIED! Another vet conducted the procedure and my dog was left in such terrible condition that we were shocked. When I contacted Dr. Tama he said that it was normal that my dog was unstable, shaky, disoriented, and unable to walk, stand, eat, or drink due to anesthesia. The problem is that this had NEVER happened when we took him to his previous vet. After more than two days my dog was finally able to walk, but we noticed that ever since that procedure his hip problems got worse, what leads me to think that during the dental cleaning procedure he might have been accidentally dropped off down from the table. Despite of this horrible experience I still gave Tama Veterinarian Hospital another chance, as I realized that it wasnt Dr. Tama who caused this to my dog. Again, I specifically asked for Dr. Tama to see my dog. My husband and I accommodated our schedules to fit Dr. Tamas. The day of the appointment once more they did it to us again! A female veterinarian entered the room. When I asked her for Dr. Tama, she said that she would be the one attending our dog because Dr. Tama was not coming until later for an scheduled surgery. When I responded that we had specifically asked for Dr. Tama, she left the room to call him, rolling out her eyes and scoffing us on her way out. Seriously people! WHAT A LACK OF RESPECT FOR YOUR CLIENTS and PATIENTS! I find it very disrespectful, insulting, a waste of our time and money to come to see other veterinarian we DID NOT REQUEST. This is a shady business practice, for Dr. Tama to use his name and reputation as a great vet to expand his business and profit while ignoring clients request. Because again, THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME they "Bait and Switch" vets to us. Dr. Tama demonstrated that he is too important to see our beloved dog himself. He does not deserve our business, and to care for our beloved four-legged child.

I <3 Dr. TAMA!! And the ladies who run the office too! My husband and I live in the Fremont area and have owned dogs together for over 15 years. We have probably been to most of the vets in the East Bay I can honestly say werent happy with a single one. We REALLY wanted to find a vet that we loved and wanted to stay with, but just never felt 100% good about any of them for one reason or another. A friend recommended Dr. Tama when we got our youngest puppy and, although Milpitas is a bit out of the way, we gave him a try. We havent looked back since! Weve been with him for about 1.5 years and have had our puppys full vaccinations as well as visits for some skin issues and two overnight stays (one for eating something poisonous and the other to have a foxtail removed from his paw). They have taken amazing care of him every time - he loves it there - and Ive never had a dog love the vet! The office is well run - everything is organized, timely and appointments go smoothly - the staff is awesome! Dr. Tama himself is exceptional. Hes truly compassionate and wants to make sure you (and your pet) are happy and understand everything going on. I recommend Tama to people every chance I get and will continue to do so!!

If I could give zero stars, I would. I believe the Vet killed our puppy. We brought her in, and she was still breathing, and then when my wife asked to go in the back to see her there was all this "secretcy" before letter her go in the back, and then when she did go in the back, our puppy was in this plastic box and it was already dead and the Vet "pretended" to give her recessitation playing it off like she was still breathing when her limbs were already stiff. ON TOP OF ALL OF THIS, she sent our puppy home with my wife in a supply box AND HAD THE NERVE to still send us email saying: "Its time for your Unnamed Pets first visit. Please call us to schedule an appointment." When clearly the receptionist who collected payment on killing our puppy KNEW our puppy was dead!" Just how stupid and insensitive is your staff and incompetent?! And they still WONT REMOVE us off their email. :: smh :: DONT GO TO THIS VET. THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND THEY WILL KILL YOUR PETS!

Dr. Tama and his staff are the best! Ive been bringing my little kitten, Bentley, here for a few months now and they are all so great with him. Its super easy and convenient to make an appointment and they have always been on time! For the little things like shots or applying flea medication, Im out of there in 5 minutes. For exams, I havent had to wait very long at all and Dr. Tama has always spent plenty of time answering my questions and examining Bentley to make sure he is okay! The facilities are extremely clean as well and I have 0 concerns about the cleanliness of the clinic. Also their prices are very reasonable - I purchased a "kitten plan" for the first year and almost everything is covered with that plan - makes it super easy and I dont have to pay every time I come in. They also have a resident cat, Patrick, who lives at the clinic - he is adorable and brings his charm & personality to Dr. Tamas practice. I would highly recommend bringing your pet to Dr. Tama!

Tama Vet and his staff provide excellent care for their patients and their owners. I started going there to help out the with rescue dogs they board and after seeing the quality of care they provide I started bringing my own dog there. My dog is not easy to handle. He, too, was a rescue and is terrified of vet offices. I brought him in for an exam and he peed all over the exam room and even on the vet tech. They were completely understanding. During they exam, Dr. Lau was very gentle with him. There was nothing wrong with the vet I took him to before, but I felt that the staff here was friendlier and more informative. I had a sense that no matter who I spoke with, they knew what they were talking about. When it came to administering medications, they were very thorough in explaining the directions. I dont feel rushed or short-changed there. I moved to San Mateo and will still make the drive out to bring my dog there. Wonderful service all around.
