Animal treated: Dog, 14 yr old Hound Procedures done: 5 teeth extractions/1 calcified tumor removed/1 large skin tag removed/2 small tumors removed on tail/ eye infection treated/ ears infection treated/ refill heartguard plus I have 3 rescue dogs of varying ages and breeds. My oldest one is about 14 and last week I was checking her terrible teeth (she has some fractured teeth) and noticed one was very loose and gray, definitely needed to be pulled. I had not had her teeth worked on previously because my last two vets were unsure about the anesthesia risk, that she might be too old. I checked online and it seemed I really should get her tooth pulled at this point, the pain they live with can be masked. I moved to California last year so I hadn’t found a vet yet.. I went onto Yelp and begin checking to see about vets. I had one recommend to me at work but the Yelp reviews were only 4 outa 5 and some of the comments were concerning so I kept looking. That’s when I found AVMC. They have great yelp reviews so I made an appointment to see Dr.Caprio that Monday. When I met him I found him to be very informative and professional. He explained that dogs can be in pain and still eat and act normal, he asked me to weigh the thought of her living her last years in pain versus risk of anesthesia. He said he would run bloodwork and use a safer form of anesthesia but that he felt comfortable in working on older dogs but the bloodwork would tell him if her insides were healthy. He also reviewed her ear infection and eye infection and made suggestions. I agreed to his treatment plan and he took my dog in the back for bloodwork, urine and eye test along with an ear cleaning. When he came back he told me what he found with the eye and we discussed treatments for her ear and eye along with the fact he would call me when he gets the bloodwork back. I started to use the medicine for my dog and her eyes and ears got better within a couple days, I could tell she was much more active and alert, I think the infections limited her eyesight and hearing or caused pain. On Wednesday the doctor called me and explained the bloodwork showed everything was normal and he felt very comfortable in pulling the teeth based on her internal health. I scheduled for this past Monday and dropped her off at 930 for surgery at 12pm. While I was there we reviewed what would happen and I asked him about a tumor and some skin tags that we had briefly discussed in the previous vet visit. He agreed he could also remove the tumor and skin tags safely. I kissed my baby goodbye and hoped for the best. They called me at 230pm to tell me surgery went well and that my dog could be picked up. I went in to pick her up at 5pm she looked wonderful, she was alert and walking around and yeah, she wanted to get outa there, but she looked great. Dr Caprio ended up removing 5 teeth, one calcified tumor on her back a large skin tag and two smaller moles/tumors on her tail that were growing. They also clipped her nails and the teeth looked cleaned! I really felt like they gave me the VIP treatment! They gave me medication to give her and today she seems normal and is walking/eating like usual. Based on this experience I would not hesitate to take my dog in for surgeries like teeth extractions/ tumor extractions or other ailments. My dog looks and I am sure will be feeling better and that is PRICELESS. And to add to the other comments, yes, his prices are very reasonable and less than I had been quoted at two other vets for the same procedures. It’s amazing to me that I spent twice the amount with other vets for tests that told resulted in NOTHING and he SOLVED her issues for half the amount. Not only do I recommend this veterinarian I HIGHLY suggest NOT to put off treatments for your dog, my only regret is not finding a vet who could SOLVE her issues sooner.

There were many close to me but I saw the high review and decided to drive a little further to go to AVMC. Im glad I did, Dr. Carpio is nice and very patient with my questions. We werent sure how ill my dog was but Dr. Carpio was great in explaining what first to do and then well decide the steps later. He understood the cost factor. The entire treatment ended up costing me 2K but they allowed me to used two Yelp deals and offered 20% off on the dental surgery. They had a deal for 20% off for dental cleaning but since my dog had to do dental extraction, they still honored the discount. They were understanding of my schedule, I couldnt pick my dog up after 4pm on surgery day so they offered to keep him overnight for free. I picked him up the next day in the afternoon and they didnt call once to bug me to come get him. Everyone I encountered in the office was very nice.

After a nightmarish experience at Alta View Animal Hospital in Mountain View, a simple Google search brought me to AVMC. I dont hesitate to call them anytime. I love AVMC so much Ill never go anywhere else! They fixed my Mabel up when she came in with a messed-up spay procedure. They continue to care for her like shes their own. They know her when she comes in the building! They make it easy to file with my insurance company as well - doing the entire process for me. Dr. Vuong is the best, too. Shes always given me her professional recommendation with a personal qualifier, like Ive asked for. You know, the "what would you do if she were yours?" question. GO HERE!

I have been through a few DVMs for my Rottie in the past; even to the extent of going to UC Davis Small Animal Hospital for a thorough medical work up, to no avail. My dog’s condition persisted until I was referred to the Advanced Veterinary Medical Center by a friend who knows my dog’s medical problems very well. As soon as I entered the center with my pet, Dr. Carpio looked at me and quickly sensed my concern for my Rottie. His kind demeanor and willingness to work with me to alleviate my pets unrelenting medical maladies were a source of comfort for me. Although his center is a 12 mile drive, I’ll do it anytime. He is my new DVM and I’m very happy with him.

I am not from Ca. and was very concerned about finding at Veterinarian that I could trust to have my fur babies best interest at heart. With a focus on care and not countless unnecessary testing that breaks the pocket book. Thankfully my fears where quickly put at ease the moment we walked in and meet with Dr. Tan and Dr. Carpio. The Doctors and staff where so sweet and took the time to explain everything as well as give me choices in treatment approach. My Charlie Bear is back to his healthy and playful self :) Thanks to AVMC♡

Im very glad to find this place and meet Dr. Carpio and his team. I took my 2-year old Corgi for neutering but he happened to bleed in his penis area. Dont know if the blood is coming out of his penis or external, Dr. Carpio did examine the situation and picked up six foxtail inside his penis, along with numerous foxtail deep in his fur over the neutering surgery. Thanks to Dr. Carpio, my Corgi is recovering safe and sound right now. Ill bring my other dog to this place for neutering soon. Strongly recommended!
