If I could give one star, I would. I wish Id paid more attention to the reviews on here as well as on Yelp (including those "hidden") because Im now another dissatisfied ex-customer. Suffice it to say that Dr. Amy Sachs is incredibly rude, and this facility is in business to up-sell you and bully you into things that arent necessary. And more than that, they LIE to get you to agree. When I was reviewing the estimate with Stetson (vet tech), I questioned a $33.83 Cerenia Injection line item. He said it was to help my dog stop vomiting. When I balked at the price, he said that it would last a week, which would give my dog enough time to recover from her nausea and start eating again. I asked why we couldnt just do a pill since the pills are around $3 each. He emphasized that the injection was better and again repeated that it would last a week. So I said yes. The vet then tells me that it only lasts 24 hours. When I ask them to remove the charge, she bullies and berates me, insisting that it was necessary, and ignoring the fact that I was given misinformation when making my decision. I remind her that I would NOT have said Yes, if I had been told its benefit would have a life of less than 24 hours. She and another tech Phillip stood there and mocked me with their arms crossed. Dr. Sachs said there was "no way" she would reverse the $33.83 on my $311.83 bill. I said Id be willing to take a partial credit of just $20. She continued to refuse and bully me. She said, "Well just have to agree to disagree, and Im not reversing it." I said, "Well, either I pay zero, or I pay $278. Its your choice." She responded, "Okay, Ill reverse the charge but you are no longer welcome here as a patient and should find another vet." Making matters worse, they didnt even diagnose whats wrong with my dog. Dr. Sachs jabbed, "Well if your dog starts vomiting again, shes either terminally ill or she has cancer." WTF? I said, "You told me her blood work came back fine." (I even paid for their most expensive blood panel for $133 because they promised it was comprehensive." Dr. Sachs replied, "Oh we didnt check for cancer. That would be another test for additional money, and wed also do an xray for another $150." Shes rude and cold, and has no place working with animals or pet parents. From what I read on some Yelp reviews (particularly those in the hidden area), Im not alone in this impression. Oh, and yes, they try to push extras onto you. Do yourselves a favor, there are MANY vets in the Salem area. Pick one. Just not this one.

Took our cat who had got into a fight and needed immediate treatment to Vitality and due me having to work I had to ask my 17 year old to take him in ,and Vitality totally took advantage of her ,Did not give her the choice in choosing oral antibiotics which is way cheaper to give the cat ,the doctor decided for her to give her the shot which is triple the cost the doctor said she prefers to give the shot because most cats run away from meds, never even asked if our cat did that or not which in fact he is really good at taking medicine,They did a horrible job at shaving around the wounds and when i called to ask why they picked the most expensive treatment when there was a way cheaper treatment ,i got a snuddy response that maybe my daughter should call me before saying yes to treatment, I said maybe you shouldnt take advantage of teenagers and ask what they financially can afford and my daughter was making a decision that was the only option the doctor gave her, the doctor response on oral medication is I am sure I did tell her there are oral medication but can not recall if i gave her the price My daugther had a friend with her and both of them said the doctor never gave them a choice, IF you want your pet to have the best treatment take them to Willamette Vally hospital in keizer they will give you options and treat you with respect and they do care about what you can afford and not afford ! after all of this I spoke with a few co workers and not one of them had a positive thing to say about vitality hospital ,In fact one of our supervisor said if he would have known i was taking one of my pets there he would have diffentetly try to talk me out of it

I took my dog to this vet for the past 14 years. Every visit they pushed selling and made me feel guilty when I declined things that seemed unnecessary. My dog is now pretty old and her health started to decline. I brought her to Vitality and allowed them to run blood tests and an x-ray as they thought she may have bone cancer and wanted to check her kidney and liver functions before giving her pain medicine for possible arthritis. While they were drawing blood I sat in the waiting room and got to witness the very sad event of two different pet owners coming in minutes apart from each other to pick up their pets remains. Each lady was visibly sad, yet somehow the tactless receptionist thought it fit to say, "Have a good day" while handing over the small box holding what was left of their pets. I doubt she noticed or cared that those very insensitive words caused more pain to show on their faces than was there when they first walked in. Afterwards I waited for the call regarding the results and when no call came, I finally called them. I was told my dog was having kidney failure and my options were to bring her in for a few days to receive IV fluids or bring her in to put her down when it looked like she was done for. I chose neither. My dog slowly started to get better and here we are four months later and shes still alive. When it does come time for her to be put down, I do not want the people at this place wishing me a good day while handing my sweet dogs ashes to me. I will never bring another pet to this vet. I regret sticking around for the 14 years that we did.

I would NOT recommend this place to anyone!! I had a horrible experience taking my healthy Persian cat in for the "Spa day" package. The price quoted over the phone changed drastically in person when I showed up to my appointment. They said it was due to a new person working the phones. They did agree to honor the price after talking to additional staff. Then 5 hours later; 45 minutes before my scheduled pick up time, I got a call from them wanting to sedate my cat with a high fee due to my cat scratching and being upset. I said thats impossible my cat is de-clawed and Do Not sadate my cat, I will not pay additional charges. They said no work was done and that I should just come pick her up ASAP. They did not bathe or brush her, they sent her home dirtier then when she was brought in. They shaved her in patches and avoided any and all matts that needed to be cut, most of them could have just been brushed out. I wish they had not touched my poor cat. They had her wrapped in a towel when they handed her to me and tried to hide the "free of charge" nasty job they did to my cat. I now need to take her somewhere else to get this fixed. This place was rude and treated me and my poor cat horribley. Very unprofessional staff they should not get away with treating animals or people like this!!!
