While this place may be fine for routine examinations, I was extremely displeased with my experience. Having owned dogs and horses for over 25 years, my experience here ranks among the lowest of the 20 odd vets Ive worked with in my life. I brought my dog in displaying acute lameness signs which presented in under 10 hours while I was at work . After a cursory examination lasting no more than 20 minutes, no obvious pain was diagnosed and my dog was prescribed pain killers plus a standard blood panel due to concern regarding liver/kidney failure or other systemic distress. A Lymes test was run upon my request (the vet did not recommend it). I was told the results would be back within 24 hours at which point wed determine next steps. The next day, I received no call from the vet while at work. When I returned from work, which was after the hospital was closed (they are only open from 7:30 to 6 or 7pm. What kind of hospital is only open during business hours?), my dog had deteriorated to the point where she couldnt get up or walk, and was seriously lethargic. I promptly brought her to Dove Lewis, where the vets couldnt have been more incredible. I was there until 1am, with more than 45 minutes being spent with a vet who in detail discussed what she was seeing, what it could be, and discussed options with me. She fetched the bloodwork at 11:30 p.m. to diagnose my dog, and prescribed anti-inflammatory and antibiotics. Within 24 hours, my dog was 75% better. Within 48 hours, my dog was back to her regular self with minimal energy loss. On Saturday, I called this vet hospital and I was told my vet wouldnt be back in until MONDAY, so I would have to wait until then for test results!!! Im so incredibly lucky to live close to Dove Lewis and have the resources to visit there. If I didnt, my poor sweet dog wouldve deteriorated further and further over the weekend, while my 24 hour results wouldnt be briefed to me until more than 72 hours later. And oh yeah, its probably Lymes or another tick-borne illness (the test that I wanted to run - not the vet). I will never take my animals here again.

The staff at Northwest Neighborhood Veterinary Hospital is extraordinary. From the minute you walk in the door you will feel like you are visiting friends and family. The quality of care your pet will receive is unmatched. My pet never shook from fear nor was anxious for an appointment there. Each visit the staff greeted both my pet and me with great enthusiasm and affection. Time was always taken to listen to any concern or thought I had regarding my pet’s well being, and I felt I was always given quality advice and alternative options to consider. We were seen by our regular veterinarian, Dr Becky Prull, but in her absence always found the same terrific and quality treatment with the next available associate. When the time was necessary to be seen by specialists we were thoughtfully referred on and helped through the maze of decisions to make when caring for an aging pet. At the end of our pet’s life, we were guided so compassionately with making a "most difficult" decision. Dr Prull came to our home after her day had ended and performed the final step, which allowed us to have a very special and memorable final day with our beloved dog. We are deeply grateful to Dr Prull and the wonderful experience we had with everyone at NWNVH and wouldn’t hesitate to enthusiastically recommend them for excellent health care for your pet!

I very much enjoy the NW Neighborhood Veterinary Hospital. Its proximity to my house was initially what drew me to it. Before I researched their services I noticed the wonderful staff walking the neighborhood with some of its less than fortunate overnight or visiting four-legged friends. They were great and I so appreciate the pups getting a good outing. Since actually visiting my experiences have been equally as pleasant. My dog can be weary of some strangers but he knows hes in good hands and is at ease with the staff. I love that all Vets we have seen get on the floor with my 100lb mastiff dane to help put him at ease. Ive appreciated all recommendations on treatment and honesty around risk levels, needs and expenses. They have great deals and rebates for long term medications like flea control and heartworm which help save money over time. Especially with a big dog and weight dosages! This is the level of care and cooperation I expect from such a service and Ive had pretty standard pet needs. No emergencies, thankfully, so I wouldnt say Ive been blown away or theyve gone above and beyond but they definitely have my stamp of approval and in the event that my situation presented an opportunity for them to go above and beyond, I wouldnt be surprised if they really wowed me. Try em out!

I brought my dog to Northwest Neighborhood Vet for annual checkups and the staff was always very polite and gave good service. On my first visit, when Becky looked over my dog, she looked like she genuinely liked her job, you could tell she loves animals and is invested in their well being. My dog was also seen by Nick who I would also recommend. Fun fact: Northwest Neighborhood Vet has a travel specialist, which I never knew I would need, but I made a sudden move from Portland to Guam, and without help from Erin at Northwest, I can honestly say my dog probably wouldnt have cleared customs. Eric walked me through the paperwork, scheduled my dog for the updated boosters and chip she needed, and contacted Guam department of agriculture. She kept me in the loop, and was there through the whole process, like more a friend than a vet. I remain grateful and when I return to the area, will continue services with this vet. So, in both the day to day and in unusual circumstances, Northwest exceeded my expectations in quality and kindness. PLUS they are very close to Wallace Dog Park, on NW24th and Parkrose, so after subjecting my dog to trips to the vet, I would reward her by letting her loose in the dogrun. Bonus!

My two kitties have been cared for by the staff at NW Neighborhood since 2008, when we followed Dr. Shuler there. I cant say enough good things about the clinic and the staff. In short, I completely trust them (and I really!! love my cats, so thats a bold statement). The clinic has an emphasis on longterm and preventative health, and quality of life is always in the discussion when we are considering interventions. Weve benefitted from the good relationships the clinic has with local specialists. Communication with their human clients is excellent. When my kitties have procedures done, I get phone calls with updates. Dr. Shuler will review imaging and consult reports with me, hell share the latest research driving our treatment options, and together we decide what makes sense for that particular cat, and for me too. I feel like I can take optimal care of my cats because I have the support of smart, compassionate, collaborative, and animal loving veterinarians, vet techs, and other clinic staff. I wouldnt go anywhere else.

Dr. Prull and the staff at NW Neighborhood Vet are AMAZING. Ive taken my pups to numerous vets, holistic vets, specialists, and dermatologists over the years and I have never experienced the level of care, knowledge, communication, and competence as I have at NW Neighborhood. Every time I call in they are so incredibly helpful and prompt and always remember my dogs. Dr. Prull is also trained in holistic medicine, and she always gives me a variety of treatment options. She calls personally to check on my pups and accommodates to my picky needs and thoughts without judgment. On numerous occasions weve had to see other vets due to emergency situations and every single one of them (and their vet techs/staff) has been outstanding. They are also very transparent about pricing and genuinely care about your pets. We got lucky because they are in the neighborhood (although they have a parking lot - super convenient!) but I will never take my pups anywhere else and I highly recommend them to any pet-parent.
