Ive taken my puppy here since I got him at 8 weeks. He had symptoms of a stroke when my boyfriend and I were at work, and when we came home and saw him, we were horrified. He was covered in his own vomit and he had diarrhea. And the stroke took a tole on his facial features - his eyes and mouth were droopy. He acted like he was terrified and like he couldnt really see us. His legs were stiff, he was slightly hunched to one side and he couldnt control his bladder. He kept having seizure after seizure while my mother was trying to get in touch with a vet with an emergency number, since it was after 7 PM. We brought our pup in to North Whidbey Vet Hospital because they were the only ones that answered. Haji was restless the whole ride, from and during the emergency visit. I had to hold onto him to make sure he didnt fall off of the examination table. First thing I noticed about the head vet was his choice of grammar. I wasnt too thrilled to hear him call my sick puppy a "fart," "ugly," and say "he is so cute its disgusting" after he had gone through a stroke and seizures, so his face showed exactly that. I also didnt appreciate the curse words he chose to say at random, or that he kept the thermometer in him for a good couple of minutes, when it shouldnt even take a minute (he had a fever of 102.8). After inspecting him, the vet said that he looks fine, that his abdomen feels normal, that I shouldnt be so upset and that he isnt dehydrated. My puppy had puked a lot earlier and his gums and eyes showed it - not to mention how hed try to keep water down, but couldnt because his mouth became paralyzed from the stroke. Although the vet said he wasnt dehydrated, he gave him fluids (for no longer than a couple minutes), and shots to help keep him from puking. Then his advice was this - give him a little bit of white rice and a little bit of water every half hour tomorrow. Tonight, dont give him anything! Take away his food and water. And once you notice he wants more, give him more rice and water, and gradually transition his regular food into the rice. Once he is able to eat his regular food with the rice, give him half of an antibiotic (which he gave me 2). He didnt seem worried about Haji at all, despite of his irregular face and that we mentioned the seizures. So I asked the vet, "What do you think caused this?" And he simply said, "He ate something he shouldnt had." Which wasnt true, because there is no possibility of him getting anything he shouldnt have. He only eats what I give him and I always keep an eye on him. I told the vet this, and he was like, "Well Im sure he has chewed on a twig before? Or grass?" Yes, he has, but twigs and grass do not cause full on strokes and seizures. So it ended with the vet saying to call the clinic in the morning if he pukes or if he doesnt eat, which will then lead him to taking X-rays, even though he thought it was unnecessary since he wasnt worried at all with everything we had to say. At the end of the appointment, which didnt last for more than 15 minutes, I owed over $200 ($150 for the emergency appointment), which I wouldve paid anything to help my puppy live and feel better. Our puppy, who wasnt even 9 months old yet, didnt make it through the night. He had passed away at 3 AM that following morning. We tried contacting another vet, only for him to let us down too. At the end of all this, I believe that something couldve been done to make it easier for my puppy in his last hours, but he had to endure the multiple seizures and strokes until he passed away that morning.

BEWARE - I was at my in laws house for the evening & their puppy fell on the hardwood floor & broke every bone in her paw. It was 7pm on a Saturday so we didnt have alot of Veterinary choices as far as what was open. Puppy was crying, couldnt walk, and needed to be seen, so I went online to google some places and came across this one. We called, spoke to a gentleman and he said he could be there ASAP so we drove there. $150 for the visit for him to basically say "I dont know what is wrong with her and we should wait to see if it gets better within a few days". They took her home, and she suffered in pain for 2 days. Monday morning, they called, and took her back in. Thats when they did the X-Ray and found all the broken bones in her paw. They wrapped up her entire leg in a "cast". The cast was basically medical tape, wrapped tightly around her. It was done SO poorly. Her hand got so infected that she had to get rushed to another vet, and they could not believe how horrible this cast was. She could have lost her leg! Not to mention they said that the level/kind of drugs they had given her was practically lethal for her size. Worst case of vet malpractice I have ever encountered. The guy when we got there, didnt even seem like a licensed vet. He was wearing sweats & sweatpants and a beanie. Granted it was Saturday evening, but still. It was a disaster inside. Messy, dirty - HORRIBLE. Biggest mistake! Thank god we found care in time to save the puppies leg, and maybe even her life!

My mom took her cat in today to be put to sleep. He is old, has cancer, and failing kidneys. This place has been caring for him for months. Removing the cancer and hydrating him. My mom called me this morning to let me know she had dropped him off for the last time and that she wasnt going to stay because it was too hard. I called the vet to find out what time they would be performing the procedure to see if I could come be with him. Say goodbye. The receptionist advised me that they dont normally have you there when they do it (?), and that the staff had all formed a very strong connection with him, so i shouldnt worry. While I am glad that in the MONTHS that they have been caring for him they have formed a connection, I found that response to be completely selfish and insensitive. We got the cat when I was 14. You think I dont have a connection with him? Maybe I wanted to be there for him. And to have a chance to say goodbye. But no. Apparently the staffs connection with a familys pet is more important than that of the family itself. I cried, left work, and ran home to snuggle my puppy and reassure him that I would never let him go through that alone when the time comes, and will never take him to a vet that thinks their bond with my animal is stronger or more important than my own.

TERRIBLE. If I could rate this "hospital" below one star, I would. I went in because my pregnant cat had passed a placenta and at the time I didnt know what it was. While doing the evaluation on my cat, my kitty passed her mucous plug, the technician had no idea what the discharge was and the actual vet never commented on it. When I showed the vet what I had found, he told me that it couldnt be the placenta. He also stated "Im not saying your cat isnt pregnant, but if she is, shes not going to give birth anytime soon." Well she gave birth that night after the visit. They then proceeded to tell me there COULD be some major complications internally that we dont know about and wont know about unless we open her up or take our chances. He ball parked the procedure to be $200 to $300. I decided to take my chances, because why would I let someone who cant even tell me whats wrong with my pet cut her open? I would NEVER recommend this establishment to ANYONE. I honestly dont see how they obtained a license to practice.
