RIP OFF!!!! I had an eye exam back in February 2012 and I was asked if I would prefer to pay them and then get a refund from my insurance company or if I wanted to pay AFTER they got paid from my insurance company. I opted to pay them on the spot and wait for a refund. At the same time I also bought a pair of eye glass for over $900! Not knowing anything about eye glasses I figured that was the going price. Later that week I found the same exact eye glasses with the same lenses for $300! Not at just 1 other store, but at ALL other stores. Thats a 200% markup! To make matters worse, today, June 25th 2012, I received ANOTHER invoice from them for $95.63. Supposedly my insurance didnt pay them enough (even though I had already paid them in full after my exam) and they pocketed my refund from the insurance PLUS a 200% eye glass mark-up, and 6 months later they want an additional $95.63. All for a 30minute eye exam and a pair of $300 glasses. I explained the above to Phil (who answered the phone) but he was just interested in getting paid. I paid and informed them I would never be back, but they couldnt have cared less.

I have been going to Dr. Gordon Wong for 16 years. He is a caring, patient doctor, and in my experience he is willing to do whatever it takes to provide his patients with good vision. I have a complicated vision situation post-LASIK, and he has provided me with the latest contact lens technology for the last 8 years. Its not budget eye care, but if you have standard VSP coverage through your employer it is generally covered (except for standard co-pays) as any eye doctor would be. As with any "fashion" item, frames are expensive - and this is La Jolla. I dont have to worry about that. If youre not concerned about frame costs and want your eyes properly cared for and corrected, with a clear explanation of your particular vision situation, Dr. Gordon Wong will not disappoint.

Dr. Wong was awesome! He is the First optometrist to ever explain my astigmatism to me and also the first to give me a different contact lens for each eye. I thought I used to see well with my last set but when he put the new contacts in my eyes I could see tremendously better! He also explained to me my options for contact lenses with details about my eye comfort and didnt leave out any information about the difference in cost etc. Its refreshing to have a doctor who seemed to really care and wasnt just trying to get me out the door. I really recommend going to him to anyone, but especially people who have worse vision or a separate prescription and/or people who like to really weigh their options when it comes to contacts and comfort!

Gordon Wong is bar none the very best eye doctor I have ever had. I have had visual and other various eye challenges throughout my life. Gordon spends the time and attention with every patient, carefully explaining procedures and conditions. He has state of the art equipment to handle my eye health and checkups with almost every aspect of care, and he provides excellent referrals to other health care professionals for things outside his scope. I love that Gordon now has a new office in Del Mar, as well as La Jolla. He is wonderful!!

Dr. Wong is always very polite and gracious, prompt, explains what he is doing, answers all my questions, and is everything that I want. I have purchased frames and lenses from his shop but many times do not after an exam and do not feel that I am being pushed. My husband and I have been with him for several years and will continue with him and his staff.

Nicely located in La Jolla with a beautiful all glass storefront. The red awning really stands out so its easy to find. They had a wide selection of designer frames, some that I have yet to see elsewhere. The staff is very friendly and with their suggestions I was able to find exactly what I was looking for.

The selection of frames is fantastic and the staff help you pick out the right look, which seems to work as I always get compliments. Even thought I no longer live in La Jolla, I always make my way back to GWs for my eye exams.
