Before visiting this Pet Adoption Center, I had called inquiring about an specific dog, and talk to a young lady: Ashley, I explained to her that we were ready to adopt him, but we lived far, about 1:40 drive, but that we will be there the next day for sure. She explained to me, that they couldnt hold the dog over the phone for me, but that I was welcome to come as soon as they open, and fill out the application and go from there, in any case that the dog has been adopted, we had other choices. We left orange county as soon as my son was done with his soccer game, and we got there a little bit after they had opened, to our surprise, there was one family meeting the dog already, they were interested in adopting him, so we started to look for other dogs, and we learned that one by one, the other dogs that we might have chosen they had been adopted, and there was only Figaro left. We were looking for a young lab puppy since I was looking for a companion for my 7 year old boy. I explained to my son that there might be a chance we couldnt get him, in case the other family ended up adopting him, and even though my son really wanted this particular dog, he understood, and was patient, open to any possibility without loosing hope. We had the option to stayed, fill out the application, and wait for the other family to finally decide if they were going to adopt him or not. And since we dont live near that place at all, we didnt really have anything to loose, so we waited. My son was happy to be looking at different dogs in the meantime, and I started to fill out the application, we were there for a long time, I met almost everyone during that time, and everyone we met was very nice, they heard our story and they were very sympathetic and made our stay pleasant. I was very impressed with the facility, you can tell that they provide their best care for these pets, very clean, and I could see a lot of traffic, different dogs leaving for walks or coming back from being walked, as well as staff members playing with cats. After a long waiting, the other family who wanted to adopt our dog, decided not to, and we were just excited, happy; my son was the happiest. Now we had to be questioned and review the questionnaire with one of the staff members, one by one we reviewed the questions I had answered in the application. This took awhile, because they really take their time, making sure you can provide the best care possible for your new pet. After going through the whole questionnaire, they gave us the news that our application had been accepted. And we now are pet owners of the cutest lab pup named Figaro, who makes us happy everyday and we love him dearly.

Severely and utterly disappointed. The entire experience with this place was heartbreaking and unexpected. Lots of things simply didnt make sense and the place doesnt know how to follow their own policy. I want to adopt the right pet for me, and the right pet for me happens to be a black lab that struck a chord with me that reminded me of one my dad had then sold several years back that I loved. Hes free and clear on Thursday May 15th but their hours conflict with my work hours so I send my girlfriend to see him. Being about 4pm, adoptions stop. She likes him. She returns the following morning to put him on hold for me for when I can finally manage to go first thing Saturday morning and now they tell her only the person adopting the pet can place a hold. Ummm, I CANT DO THAT. MY WORK HOURS CONFLICT WITH YOURS. How is this possible to do? I sent an email on Thursday the 15th explaining all this beforehand and they play dumb acting like they didnt get my emails or the right person didnt read it. Anyways, I go first thing Saturday morning and to my dismay, the dog is already on hold. I call every hour after that to check if the family came and decided against adopting him. They tell me to come back at 4pm when the hold expires (stay with me here) and I fill out an adoption form. I live down the street, FYI. 3:45 pm rolls around, no sign of that family according to who I call. Except what now? Im told someone else is already waiting to see him. Sorry, ive been waiting days to see this dog and same-day, ive been waiting since opening. I get there just a few minutes before 4pm to further dismay discovering the staff BROKE THEIR OWN POLICY and let this random guy visit with the dog BEFORE THE PREVIOUS HOLD WAS OVER. In the end, the staff proved to me that they do not care about fairness or care about their policy (despite stating they were following it, obviously they were not) and only care about getting their animals adopted ASAP. It was torture watching my rescued pet shih-Tzu whimper and cry to play with any person or dog that came by her because she wants a companion so bad and this place gave it away out from under my feet. Way to power the puppy mills and craigslist breeders, people. Way to go.

This is my first shelter Ive ever gone to, where Ive felt like I was being discouraged from rescuing an animal. I went in the week they had their "Home for the Pawlidays" event, and by the time i got there, there were no puppies left. There was only about three big dogs and three little dogs left. I ended up meeting all three of the dogs, and fell in love with one of them. Unfortunately, they wouldnt let me adopt him that night, so I waited till the next day. They told me to "really think about adopting him" because hes been returned multiple times. So, I did as they said and went home and thought about it. I decided that I wanted to give him a chance. The following day, I called them and asked if he was still available, and they said yes. I asked if I can come get him and they interrogated me. I have never felt so irritated and angry towards anyone in my life. They consistently told me they didnt want me to adopt him because of my little dog I had at home. I told them I knew what I was getting myself into. When I showed up, the snotty b in the glasses was giving me attitude. I was about ready to tell her forget about it, Ill take my business elsewhere, preferably to a shelter that WANTS their animals to have a forever home. You, miss, should not be working in a shelter. You have an attitude thats absolutely atrocious and I feel absolutely sorry for all the people that have to go through you for an adoption, along with the other girl that was working alongside you. Extremely unprofessional. When I finally signed the papers for him, they told me all the shots and whatnot I had to get him, which I was aware of. Then they proceeded to tell me theyre going to "call and check up on him in a week." Ill have you guys know, its been two weeks and they have YET to check on a dog they supposedly cared about. They kept telling me how much of a rascal he was but hes been fine with me. This shelter DOES NOT care about their animals. Just a simple buck is all they care about. Horrible service, take your business elsewhere.
