Dr. Schwartz is the worst. I had never been to see a dermatologist before so I didnt know what to expect and nobody explained what would happen. I had itching and very dry skin with bumps for months. On my very first visit he never once looked at my skin. The only thing he did was tell me I had dry skin due to diabetes. Ive had diabetes for 20 years and never once had a problem with dry skin. He said I needed a complete physical even though I told him that I get a full blood test panel every 2-3 months to monitor my situation. I told him that my primary doctor had given me some pills and a cream. The pills were too strong and didnt improve the itching and the cream did nothing. So what does he do, he pulls out his prescription pad and proceeds to write me a prescription for the exact same stuff with a lower dose of the pill and an ointment instead of a cream. He also recommended that I use a lotion called Sarna, which is very expensive and works but I have to use it constantly and at 11.99 a bottle I try using it sparingly. I will admit that the ointment works better than the cream but the pills nothing I get better results taking Benadryl which of course dries out the skin and back to the original problem. After being with him for approximately 5-6 minutes he tells me he is going to give me a UV treatment. Didnt give me a chance to ask what that meant and he didnt tell me what that would do just called in the nurse and said give her a UV treatment. I had to ask the nurse what that meant. They had me go into a UV room for 5 minutes, while in the room I started getting itchy after about 2 minutes but I hung on. After the 5 minutes I came out to get dressed and my skin was on FIRE and itching like I had been attacked by fire ants. I told the front desk what was happening and they called the nurse. The nurse told the doctor what was going on and he asked how long I was in the room and then said give her a B12 shot. The nurse suggested I take 2 Benadryl and she gave me some sample Sarna lotion. That night my skin was burning when I scratched it and the next morning I looked in the mirror and I had mild SUNBURN. I found out that the UV room is a tanning booth. I have very light skin and never go in the sun if I can avoid it. You would have thought someone would have noticed that and told me I may get sunburn. I would have said forget it. This all happened on my first visit. The next visit I went in the doctor came in asked how was the itching better, worse or the same? I told him the same so he prescribed more pills at a higher dose and said keep using the ointment and the Sarna lotion. He asked if I had a reaction to the UV room and I told him what happened he said okay and to go back in the UV room for a shorter time and he had the nurse give me a B12 shot and a trip for 1 minute in the UV box a total of 2-5 minutes with the doctor, the nurse and the UV room. I got treated like this for a $50.00 co-pay plus cost of the ointment, pills and lotion, it was not money well spent. Not worth it, I will never recommend this doctor to anyone. I even put in a complaint to my medical group about him and his office. One more thing, when I was waiting in the lobby on the first visit I asked this man what time his appointment was because they were running a little late and he said at 2:00 the funny thing was I had an appointment at 2:00 so how could the doctor be in 2 places at one time. The answer, you only get maybe 5 minutes with him. I asked my medical group for a referral to better more up to date dermatology group, they couldnt be worse then Dr. Schwartz.

The office is nice and clean the receptionists are very polite to you and your children. The rooms are clean but very old like with no running water or soap and I thought it was unusual due to Doctors having to wash their hands before and after each patient (OSHA LAW) Dont get me wrong they have a sink and paper towels in the room. So I watched as the doctor interned the room and noticed he never washed his hands or even sanatized them, never put on a pair of gloves which are clearly in the room and being a dermatologist and having to touch other peoples skin that should be ur main priority. I watched as him and an older nurse talked horribly about another patient while I was walked to my room, practically right in front of them which was sad because they didnt speak that good English in the first place. Ive never been to a dermatologist before so it was an awkward experience he asked me why I was there rudely and then told me that It was just scar tissue that it wasnt a big deal and if I wanted him to cut it out I had to go home and look up the word DERMATOFLBROMA witch is what I guess I have on my forearm and back and write a 500 word essay. Then make another apt. To me it seems like he doesnt like his job to much but Like WTFdont take it out on ur patients or maybe he just doesnt like HMO PATIENTS. I think im going to Report this office to my primary doctor so he doesnt refer this docor anymore I think its best if he hangs his coat up and spend time with his grandkids or something. Maybe its time for him to retire!
