My son always used a vet at another location. He moved or sold out to this group. We had just moved here, had an emergency and had to board our dogs. Several were due for shots and we had no time or option to fiddle around with trying to get to a boarding place to accept a waver. I had to have the shots by a particular time or we wouldnt be able to board the dogs the next day. I got lost (stupid GPS) and was a late getting to the vet, so more pressure. The first person to see the dogs spent no time with them, to calm and acclimate them. Instead, shoved a thermometer into the nether regions without any foreplay. The dog nearly nipped them. (New for this dog.) The staff treated me like I was a nuisance, I had to sit and wait for an extremely long time. I am a patient person, not opposed to waiting when necessary, but the chairs were uncomfortable and the wait was very long. I saw a second person, a woman vet, who also lacked animal behavior interface skills. Finally, I saw a last vet. By this time I was desperate for the shots for the dogs. We were rapidly running out of time, thousands of dollars were on the line, and I was subjected to a long lecture. Thank you... I already knew what he was explaining. Yes, it was right for him to explain and had the staff not kept me waiting so long, I might have appreciated his effort. In decades of dogs and shots, I had never been to a clinic where getting shots was such a production. It cost a small fortune and was extremely stressful for both the dogs and myself, since they did not take into account our pressing circumstances. I must say the last vet we saw was extremely good with the dogs, very professional, unlike the others. But, I will not go back to this clinic, as too many of the people were not friendly or good with the dogs.

San Carlos Animal Hospital has such a wonderful, charismatic group of individuals who are very knowledgeable and sincere. All three Doctors are incredibly skilled and know animals as if they were extensions of themselves. These people are dedicated, kind and easy to be around. I highly recommend them... Plus, their prices are reasonable and they wont swindle you in to anything that isnt "necessary" for your pet. They truly care and it shows. Dr. Acosta and Dr. Altman from Sunset Cliffs Animal Hospital are here! I have been taking all three of my pets (cat, two dogs) to see Dr. Acosta and Dr. Altman for over 4 years now. When I heard they moved ALL the way out to San Carlos, I knew that no matter what I needed to keep them as our doctors. They know my pets and my pets feel comfortable with them.

Dr. Acosta and Dr. Altman are both fantastic veterinarians. I have been taking my cat to them since we got her in 2001. Since then, I have always felt that she was in good hands and was being taken care of. Both doctors never seem to rush through the appointments, and they take their time to make sure they know all they need to know about your pet. They always make sure you are well informed of the different options you have, and allow you to make the decision that you feel is best for your pet. In addition, the prices are very reasonable for top notch veterinary care. All of the staff at San Carlos are very helpful and I can tell that they really care about the animals. It’s a great environment for pets, and I highly recommend them.

This new group is phenomenal. Dr. Altman was extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, and willing to try alternative treatments (e.g. acupuncture) help our precious 15 year old black lab, Molly, deal with her arthritic pain. The entire staff was kind & patient, and when the day came that we needed to put our Molly to sleep, Dr. Altman just couldnt be more gentle and understanding. The office even sent us a Sympathy Card afterwards. I would HIGHLY recommend this group!

I highly recommend the staff here. My husband, Jerry brought our dog, Odis to the hospital and they were very professional and kind. Dr. Acosta was very knowledgeable and very caring. Josh was polite and easy to talk to. We are so happy to have found this veterinarian and look will definitely take all our pets here. If you are looking for a vet or to make a change like we were - this is the place to go! Highest recommendation!

Wonderful experience. They let me use a free visit referral card that was given to me under the previous management. They never saw the cards before but did it for me. And they were able to answer questions that no other vet had before regarding Italian Greyhounds. Super helpful and so nice. I felt very supported. All i had to pay for was the vaccines, even though the doses were split up into 2 visits for my pup. <3

Been going to this place for years, took care of my dog Kai, with Cancer, all the way till they put her to sleep at the end. New Doctors took over place, kept staff. New MDS very caring, my Malamute & Husky puppy love them. Very comforting to know how well they treat my dogs. My Malamute dog needed emergency surgery and they recommended good place,kept in contact with the emergency hospital.

I was charged $104.00 for a package of FrontLine while visiting my vet with my cat. The Vet informed me that my cat was allergic to fleas. I got home and researched the cost of FrontLine to find it $58 - $62. I found it at the local PetSmart for $61.50! This is exactly why people avoid going to the vet!

Mislead about pricing, was told my follow up office visit would be free(Within 7 days), when I called, Janelle told me they werent honoring that anymore. It was alarming to me that she was more concerned with turning my cat down, than honoring what they literally told me a week ago.

Very attentive vet and wonderful staff. Around the clock people. You very well may catch them checking up on your animal after hours if you have the misfortune to gave to leave overnight. . Can not say enough to explain my many visits and experience.
